Weigh In Day: Saturday

Up again, sadly. I think it may be some water weight as I have been drinking a lot of water due to having seasonal hayfever and drinking cup-a-soups so probably too much sodium also. This week I will be looking closely at portion sizes, particularly at dinner time.
Hope you are all keeping safe and well.5 -

Slight increase. Not surprised at all. Last weekend, I traveled to one state for a family reunion, then went to another state to have dinner with my parents, then back to my home state the next day. We also had pizza and we had leftovers for a couple of days so I’m sure some of this is sodium related.
I also have only worked out two days so far this week, but I have a 45 minute spin class tomorrow morning, and then I have Sunday to get a 4th workout in. I aim for 4-5 days or around 150 minutes of spin/strength workouts, so I should be on target.
My husband and I are seeing some friends tomorrow and going to a baseball game and then dinner afterwards so that will be fun! I’ll have to remember sunscreen because I always get sunburnt at ball games 😅4 -
@micki48 !
At first my negative thoughts wanted to take over and say “you should be at 219 to then lose from there” but I told them to shut up and just enjoy the pound loss lol6 -
Today seems to have been the day of the deer around our place. I saw the same 2 young does several times - they are lovely young ladies. They were politely browsing outside the garden fence, then near the blueberries but also outside the fence, then finally they struck it rich in the orchard where there is no fence and some nice little apples they could reach or find on the ground. I tell you, their restaurant makes them work for it!
It sounds like we are all starting to get the summer indulgences into the past, and having some success this week! I know I have done much better than last week, that is for sure. Let's keep our eyes on the portion control, partner control and keep up the great work!5 -

@PlaneMonkey Happy Birthday!
@jugar we have been having a momma deer and her 2 babies wondering around our yard for the past few days. No blueberries or apples for them to munch on though!
This past week has been super stressful at work. I talked to one of the supervisors and was actually able to adjust my schedule some! That was a huge win! And then I came home and went for a walk with my hubby. It's amazing how fresh air and walking can improve your mood!7 -

My weights have been weird this week, and I'm tightening the reins on the wagon by prepping literally every. single. thing.6 -

I was up early today and realized I forgot to post my weight yesterday morning.
My water has been down and I succumbed to salty chips for snacks Thursday and Friday so, I’ll make some adjustments this week and see if it makes a difference. We’ll be out of town later this week - going to NC to see mom for her #93rd birthday! It’ll be great to see her in person. She’s finally decided to give up driving and is giving me her car. Yowza! What a relief that she’s choosing to let it go before “having” to.
Time to put together curried deviled eggs for my former singing group’s annual picnic.
With any luck, it won’t be raining. We’ve had a whole day and a half without it…whatever will we do?!

I'M ON TIME THIS WEEK!
.....AND have a loss!

I've been trying to tweak my diet to get the cholesterol lowered, but that vegan gluten-free thing is just not really what I think I am going to do FOREVER. I usually don't make changes unless they are changes that I feel like I can live with for the rest of my life. I really do not see a future without meat. I bought some of the plant-based grilled "chicken." It is NOT GOOD. The "beef" patties weren't bad, but it's still not a cow.
I'm very conscious about the source of meat. All of my beef comes from a friend that raises cattle. I get to meet the cow, see how it lives ... that's important to me. I'm not concerned about the end result as long as it's quick and humane. How the animal lived is crucial. The same with pork. I have a friend that raises hogs. At any time, I have the invite to interact with them. I raise chickens and turkeys myself and I hunt, so there's that. Hopefully eating "cleaner" will be better? It's the carbs that get me. I have really got to watch those quick snacks and potatoes. AH! Potatoes!
I'm not really worried about gaining weight at the wedding. She decided to do a pasta bar. I am gluten-free, so I don't eat pasta. Same with the cake. I'll get my little salad and be happy. My boyfriend doesn't even eat the salad, so I KNOW we'll be stopping somewhere and getting food. (Boyfriend ... I hate that word for some reason. It's cute when your 16, but in your 50s, it just sounds stupid. LOL).
Anyway, I'm happy with the weight loss this week. I have a grandbaby's birthday party today. We start decorating the venue tonight. The wedding is at 4 tomorrow, and then .... Mamma can have some of her paycheck again.9 -
I have a question for how people plan out their exercise for the week. I seem to be really consistent with either strength training or cardio, but not both. Earlier this spring, I was doing a lot of jogging and prepping for the 5k. Over the summer it's been body pump 3 times a week but no cardio. Do you exercise 5-6 days a week? Or double up on the days you do exercise? My husband and I are going to do another 5k in october so I want to start jogging again (plus the health benefits) but don't want to stop my body pump class.
Any thoughts are appreciated!2 -

I'm no good at putting workouts together, so I tend to follow programs that have already been curated. It makea it really easy, I just cue up the video (YouTube) and press play.
At the moment I am following Caroline Girvan's Fuel program. This one's 30 days and is mostly focused on weights. She also has a few Circuits in the mix. I aim for 5 workouts a week, and I have recently started going to yoga once a week. It seems to work for me.
Once I finish CG'S program, I shall start one of the Fitness Blender plans that I bought ages ago. Again, a mix of strength and cardio. After a week's deload, of course.
I would like to do a daily walk each day too - but so far I'm not doing so well.
Hope this helps.

@lauren_989 I have been thinking about your exercise question. I tend to do cardio just about every day, sometimes relatively steady for endurance and even pacing, sometimes a shorter session with intense intervals. I try to do Pilates other core/stretching/balance every day - sometimes short, sometimes as the central exercise of the day mixed with some strength work. Real muscle building sessions only 3 times a week but this also tends to be the thing that gets left out. If I don't do those concentrated strength workouts, I at least mix strength exercises in with the Pilates and other stuff. It's always a bit of a messy jigsaw puzzle, though!

Had to share our first ever pineapple.
We planted the top about 3 years ago. I thought it would never grow, so I planted flowers around it, just making it part of my garden flora. It survived wild pigs, poor soil and lack of attention. But it gave us dessert tonight.
We have been doing yardwork most of the day. This was a great reward.6 -
Sunday: 10,980 + 60 min body combat class
Monday: 7,489 + 60 min body pump class
Tuesday: 8,992
Wednesday: 7,092 + 60 min body pump class
Thursday: 3,056
Friday: 7,620
Saturday: 12,241 + 60 min body pump class + 30 min jog @ 4.4mph
Thank you for the feedback on my question! I will have to see what works for me, alternating cardio and strength on different days, or trying to do them both on the same day. Hence today, I did both body pump and jog for the first time again in months lol5 -
