I thought about waiting till Friday to weigh in, as I have to fast tomorrow then prep for a colonoscopy Friday morning, but decided that would completely ruin my next 2 weeks of weigh in. LOL
@MaddawgMadsen Thats a tough one, I think you should definitely start submitting resumes and putting feelers out there, I know for a fact, at least here in MD what you do is in high demand. At the same time, I think you need to have a chat with the pres and ask for the accommodation of working from home during adverse weather, you basically have PTSD/anxiety from a previous accident, and it should be accommodated with no issue, it isn't like you are asking to work at home every day, but I know that is easier said than done and some people just don't like to budge. Hopefully, he also knows that finding a replacement is not going to be easy, therefore it's much easier to accommodate an employee with a proven track record. Is he the person who sets the benefits? As for PTO, ours sucks too, it must be a lumber industry thing. Congrats on the house, only a few more days...
@Zumbaforever, I'm sorry, people suck... Stay Safe.
@micki48 Did you do your Pilates ? Very pretty picture, I love pictures of snow...
Have a Happy Valentines Day everyone.... 1 piece of chocolate each...

This isn't all good habit building. I donated blood on Friday.
@ashleycarole86 - Tuesday, February 13th - 5,152 steps - one hour of CrossFit3 -
@Gidgitgoescrzy - the benefits are written into our handbook and any changes to the handbook are ratified by both the president and the secretary/treasurer (so both of us). So, I can't make changes without his buy-in. I've gotten him to budge on a few things - accrued PTO rather than a set amount given on an anniversary, inclusion of vision and dental insurance, allowing our one floating holiday be a true floating holiday for office employees, and lightening up on salaried employees being required to do more than 40 hours/week. It seems like working from home and the PTO thing are the two things he won't budge on other than allowing accrual.
I appreciate everyone's advice. I will definitely start looking more seriously at the positions available. Most of what I am finding currently are entirely remote, or would be too large of a pay cut. I'm nervous about what 100% remote would do to my mental health and social well being, but I won't know until I try it.
Thanks everyone! Happy Wednesday and happy Valentine's Day!1 -
So many interesting things today! And I finished and submitted my investigation report. What an ordeal the writing of that formal document has been - but now it is done and dusted, so I can pay more attention to all the other things in my life!
@MaddawgMadsen I agree with @Gidgitgoescrzy that you have a good position to speak with either or both of your people about how best to put a little flexibility into your work arrangements. If they know you are not happy with what is happening but want to explore ways of making it better, you might not have to actually go and apply elsewhere. I hope it all works out OK! oh - and @Gidgitgoescrzy you can have my Valentine chocolate piece. I don't like the stuff! Enjoy
@stayFITTer thanks for letting me know that quoting someone does not tag them! Sheesh. And yes. You are for real in the 170s. Even if normal fluctuations (NORMAL!!) put you back up for a minute, your range now includes the 170s. Everyone's weight even at the most stable floats around about a 5 pound range. Don't sweat it! Sweat. But not that!
@lauren_989 put that jog in your agenda for tomorrow and rock it! I'm counting on you
@zumbaforever I am so sorry to hear about the shooting of Sgt. Krinkee during what should have been such a "normal" part of his workday. Thank you. Take care of yourself.

@MaddawgMadsen I have to be around people. I would not do well working from home. I totally understand your hesitation.
@jugar congratulations on getting that done. I have a friend who edits books.
Thanks for the well wishes everyone.
I did an old favorite of mine. Body weight workout

@MaddawgMadsen - I’m curious; does your company have a HR department? You shared that you and the President have had to ratify the benefits (PTO) in the past, but was it presented by another group for consideration?
I work in HR as a business partner and I have gotten questions like this from others before. I agree with others here that it’s likely time to start looking at other roles, however, before you go back for negotiations, I recommend considering if you’ll stay happy at your current company.
Most employees who receive retentions because they were offered other roles usually leave within 1 year. Leaders usually think people look for other roles purely based on compensation, but that’s not always the primary driver, so when they offer more money, and the person stays, they think they have solved the issue. The employee then realizes that what they actually wanted didn’t change and they leave anyway later on.
Happy belated Valentine’s and Galentine’s Day! Yesterday I had a spin class after work that I barely made because of traffic, but I’m so glad I went. It was a great class! My husband and I are celebrating the holiday tonight with a night out to dinner. I’m planning on having the sea scallops because they are some of my favorite, and a glass of wine.
My average weight week over week continues to go down which is good and it’s nice to see now that I’m weighing myself daily and tracking my weekends more closely.5 -

@zumbaforever - I am sorry to hear about the sergeant that was killed doing a routine part of the job! We had a sergeant shot and killed where I live in November during a routine traffic stop. It is a scary world!
@wishfuljune - I am the HR department lol. We have a company of 20-30 employees, so many of us wear multiple hats. I do have an accounting assistant who helps with benefits, but ultimately I am responsible for everything administrative including HR.
Thanks again everyone for the advice. I am still looking just so I have information to present when I do talk to the president and/or our German finance director. I will talk with them before I make any big decisions.
@StayFITTer - way to go making the 170s part of your weight range! That is huge!
@jugar - great job completing the investigation report! Now you can spend your time doing the things you actually enjoy. Well earned time!3 -

Hello Team
I've been away for over 2 weeks. Had a great vacation in Mexico and it's taken a few days to get back to normal life. Will be catching up with the group in the next bit.

@cleaneater80 - I need to travel with you! You go to Mexico and lose 3.6 lbs?! I'm glad you had a great vacation. It is nice to see you back on here.4

I had a good day today! And I got out for my jog after work. I stayed up way too late last night reading a book. I do that once in a while, but bad idea on a work night.
@cleaneater80 great loss while away!4 -

Today was solid - I feel like I made good progress at work (definitely could have logged off sooner, yet again - aiming for 4pm sharp tomorrow!!), had good meals, lots of protein, and did my first strength/weights workout of 2024! Yoga was good for January and now I am contemplating building a short, regular yoga flow into my day, every day. I think it would be good for stretching and there were some ab/core-focused moves in the Jan challenge that made me pleasantly sore.
I will fall asleep on time tonight! Looking forward to Friday. I get Monday off so it is a long weekend and I think I will try to do a day trip for snowboarding on Saturday.3 -
How is it Friday? Wasn't last Friday about 4 days ago?
OK - I'll face reality. Here are all the weigh-ins due through Friday:

@MaddawgMadsen I try to believe the good out weigh the bad. I have to. My department and the city sent out special units to assist with the barricaded suspect. It ended last night with the suspects death after firing shots when instructed to surrender.
I had a good day. Got in some heavy lift and a good stretch.2 -

Good Morning Beautiful People!!
Well, I gained, but it was .3 so I’m considering it a win considering my lack of accountability this week and TOM.
Hubby and I have already been to the gym today and I’m 65% of step goal already. 🎉 Now is Coffee ☕️ Time. We are doing taxes 🤮 today then lunch with dad ❤️.
What is on the agenda for you today? Whatever it is be the rockstar that you are!!
❤️🦋

Went to body pump this morning and now eating breakfast. I'm having a good week and looking forward to a green number on tuesday 😄
@ChelleChelle1031 I may be the only one who looks forward to taxes to get $$ back! We use the free version of turbotax and it's super easy! We did our taxes last weekend and they time it to see how long it takes...21 minutes! I know some people may have extra stuff than we do though.
Now to figure out what I'm doing the rest of this weekend. It will be sunny but it's chilly today with a breeze that makes it even cooler. Have a great weekend everyone!3 -

We typically owe, however hoping for a refund this year as we paid in extra estimated taxes. But we won’t know today… showed for our appointment today and the girl that has done our taxes for 10 years and confirmed with me less than a month ago, decided she was not going to work Saturdays anymore. Apparently her assistant missed rescheduling us. Irritated to say the least, as we arraigned other plans around this appt.
May have to give TurboTax a try next year.
Vent over!

Had a lot of chat to catch up as life got away from me the past few days. I have been busy morning to night most days and there isn't a lot of spare time. Yesterday was Brad's birthday so after a long work day we had a nice night out. Tonight we go out with friends to celebrate. I can feel the warm sun on my back and I've moved only 500 steps so far today so we are going to take our sweet angel of a dog out for a nice long walk here shortly. It's a long weekend here in Alberta so I'll enjoy the one extra day off work to recharge a bit.4
