My diabetes med has a shortage so I'm back to tracking every carb and making sure that it not processed for the most part.
I dropped by fresh market and picked up a veggie box of asparagus and red bell pepper, along with a rotisserie chicken, and have good whole foods for the past two days. All I had to do was steam the veggies. Delish! $22, dinner for two, for two days. Nice!1 -
Yikes. That is terrible on the diabetes meds. I wish Benny were more agreeable to eating asparagus. He likes rotisserie chickens from this one place but they are so expensive now.0

LC, so far so good.
Exercise, finally, walk today and good workout at PT yesterday, walking stairs too...getting some laundry done.
Will be able to pick up my new prescription late Monday or early Tuesday.

Been on rybelsus for a week now, as trulicity was out at the pharmacy. It's a rougher drug to take it orally rather than a shot (nauseous), but it is better after about a week. Heck, I'm just happy to have the substitute drug. It keeps me in a healthy BG range unlike insulin, even though my LC eating has been on point.
PT is going okay, but I cut back on doing my homework when I was ill. Have to get back to that.1 -
My husband and I have realized that it is always something to deal with, healthwise. Can’t get a drug, a drug not being covered by insurance, etc. Sorry you’ve had to struggle with a lot, no med, side effects with new med, being ill, doing PT…you seem to be dealing with it well. Hugs1

The new drug is working pretty good. I won't be asking for an increase in meds though. Haha.
Still tracking and doing the LC bit.
Still need to start homework PT again. I lose any gains I make fairly quickly at this age. There is no time to mess around. Need to do a little each day. It's like an older car needing more maintenance.
I was so ill the past week. I've had two better days, today being one of them. Just catching up on laundry and dishes!
Reading a wonderful book called A Thunderous Whisper--very exciting. It's an historical fiction novel about what happens to a small Basque village when the war finally comes to them. 60 percent of the novel didn't deal with the war coming to them, thankfully, as I am sad now that war has come.

Tomorrow I go for a bone density test and a diabetes doc follow up appointment. I need to make a lot of appointments for spring and summer, but haven't felt like it. Need to do the neurologist, the eye doc, and the dermatologist. I also need to go to the dentist, and may get dental insurance from physicians mutual.
I wonder what changes will show in my brain after having Covid and long Covid. I hope not much. I have developed morning tremors which doesn't make me happy. It doesn't happen every morning though.
I am happy PT is enabling me to walk better.1 -
I also worry about the effect these repeated infections have on my health.1

Rybelsus seems to be working for me. I lost another 4 pounds! It's great to have little appetite. I still have to watch what I eat of course. I am at 218 now! So thankful! My new goal is 210.
The doc called in my prescriptions to CVS Caremark so I hope all goes well with that. She gave me the phone # too. It's the mail order pharmacy. The regular CVS pharmacy is a royal pain in the butt, but it's my "preferred" pharmacy (better prices). Plus, they've stamped out the competition (mom and pop pharmacies) by not contracting with them.
My anxiety is high these days. I'm hoping to get outside to walk more. It's good for my mental health. I get so frustrated with myself sometimes with these feelings. I've been watching funny stuff to compensate and staying away from the news.
Daisy has an entrenched UTI and will be on antibiotics for 2-3 months and then we'll pulse her on and off antibiotics. Sis is covering the cost of the meds thankfully, as I am getting major hits in my pocketbook with the tests.

Walks just helps so much with mood, as we all know. I realized today that with all the snow that we had I really should get out in snowshoe I bought them two Christmases ago, so my husband and I could enjoy winter outdoor activities together as his back would not allow for downhill skiing and my anxiety level has made me rule it out for my future. Maybe not ever, but I’m not getting off the easiest slopes offered1

I also did not have good luck with CVS. When I wanted a glucose meter I had a prescription for, the kind which is supposed to be covered under Medicare, they charged me full price for the meter and all of the supplies. Medicare caught it and reimbursed me but I didn't intend to ever go back. I and several others had to stand in line for a half hour waiting our turn while a drug addict "shopped" for drugs - "Would you call my doctor and see if I could have oxycontin?" Really!!! She had other suggestions of meds she wanted, like she was ordering from the menu at McDonald's. She was on enough junk meds to bring down a horse. High as a kite. My feet were killing me.
Our preferred pharmacies are CVS and Kroger which totally sucks here too. They will tell you to pick your meds up as they are ready and they aren't and then they keep having you come back for hours and hours and hours on end.
The news is horrible and I avoid it too. The news people should be ashamed. They spend all of their time stirring up unrest in all of us which causes us to distrust each other. It causes seriously mentally ill people to do atrocious things like mass shootings.
Poor Daisy. Bless your sister for helping her too!
MaggieGirl, I do not enjoy doing much of anything in snow. I fall too easily. Feel weighted down with all of the clothes.

Howdy! Daisy had the trots from being on 2 mo antibiotic broad spectrum. I confined her to my bedroom with pads, and got her back on her advita probiotics. It works!
I switched to Walgreens as my 2nd preferred pharmacy, and will see if the doc can put the prescriptions on express scripts. I had the worst time getting my tresiba, and the person at the doctor's was giving me a hard time too. I was a broken record and kept saying "please resend it.". She only sent 1 months instead of 3 and I had to pay $105 for 1 mo instead of 3 for that cost.
I wish I was young again and didn't have all these drugs. Rybelsus went from $11 to $100 for one month, and is now $660 for 3 months. Sneaky price increases.0 -

Some med prices are out of control. I just started a rx pill for keeping cancer at bay and weirdly, it was inexpensive (less than $20/month), but my insurance company only allows a 1 month fill, not 3 months, as they typically prefer. This is for a pharmacy store or the mail order. There is no rhyme or reason sometimes.1

I kept within my BG range 66 percent of the time, even though I ran out of my tresiba and I was sick. She said I was doing very well. So nice to get positive feedback from a doctor.1

Yes, it is. My doctor doesn't seem to have much good to say to me lately but then I seldom get to go to him.1

Main emphasis is on decluttering and getting rid of expired stuff that started to accumulate in 2022, due to sis and me getting Covid and then long Covid
So far, I've worked on my brother's upstairs room, the linen closet (yay!), part of the kitchen. I also defrosted my upright freezer, cleaned it, and got it started again with the promise to myself to not overpack it. I further cleaned out the main fridge and freezer. I now need to clean the shelves.
My plan is to continue w/ the kitchen, then move to the back porch to make that into my PT room again.
To add some flexibility to the routine, I can choose to pack up my sister's clothes she no longer wears, pack up books I no longer want, and pack up certain kitchen items to schedule the Salvation Army to come pick it up! Easy peasy. Simplifying things all around is a good tactic.
There's so much more to do, but that list will do for now.
My BG remains in target for what my doc wants, A1C 6.7.
I had to go on 7 mg of Rybelsus during the trulicity shortage, and that wasn't so pleasant. It made me stomach upset and gave me heartburn all the time.
I'm now back on trulicity which is 50 percent cheaper than Rybelsus, and my BG is easier to control. I may even go lower on my A1C.
I've made appointments with the eye doc and to get my brain and spinal MRIs. I found and read my MRI from 2020, which stated my lesions may be from TIAs and/or MS. I will find a way to get a spinal tap done. No one told me about the possible TIAs! I have no lesions in my spinal cord, only my brain.
Since my decluttering began, I feel like I have more energy. I hope this trend continues. My doc referred me back to the neurologist as she said I may be having a flare. I had been practically unable to get out of bed much for months.
Lower carb eating is going well. I started to take my vitamins again. I started my B12 shots again. I've been cooking some great meals with having more energy. Things are looking up!0 -
You are doing so much work! Be sure not to go overboard. It sounds like you are really going through a lot, health-wise. I hope everything gets figured out and your health improves. My husband has an autoimmune disease and it is not fun when he has a flare. Understatement.
Balancing blood sugar is difficult (speaking from helping my mother years ago). I recently had my annual check-up and my A1c is exactly as it was a year ago---0.1 less than prediabetic (5.6). I have read that research is showing that berberine helps and I was taking it with my breakfast (almost always oatmeal) and lunch (main meal of my day, with balanced macros). I was taking it for at least 6 months prior to the blood test, so it appears that it didn't help one iota. When I'm done with the bottle, I will stop taking it. I did start, however, adding 2 oz of cottage cheese with my morning oatmeal, to add protein to hopefully not spike the glucose. If you have any diabetic tips, Becca, I'm open to them. The diabetic classes that I attended with my mother were many years ago now. I've Googled a bit, but I should do more. I eat fairly lowish carb. My dinners are almost always salads and our dessert is a sugar-free popsicle (tastes just as good as a regular one).
Both my mom and MIL had TIA's over time. Other than knowing what they are, I have no information on them.

My BG is swinging up a little high and then too low. I'd been partaking in some snack foods which I'm sure has been causing that. Now, my snacks are fresh fruit with cottage cheese or goat cheese with bell pepper. It's yummy and I don't have to worry about my BG going too high. I've also tried to stop snacking so much.
I need to take my vitamins more often, but I'm taking them sometimes which is better than nothing.
I took a nice drive to an adjoining town for an appointment with a new provider. It was a nice drive--country roads once I got out of the city. She has telehealth too so I can do that during bad weather.0 -
Carb intake is going better. I love trulicity. It helps my cravings too.
I opted into Sprinly for food delivery as it is vegan and gluten free, no diary. Some meals are very high in carbs though. I can't find a good meal service for my dietary needs. I check Trust Pilot before opting into anything. It helps.
I split the meals with my sis so it does bring the carb count down a bit. At least all the plant food can up my fiber intake. I may not stay with it though. Perhaps a week or two per month to give me a break on cooking.
