Usually a vacation doesn't give me the motivation to lose, this one did, hmmm. Maybe it's not the vacation, but the fear of spending a ton of money and not being able to enjoy everything. Who knows, but it will be worth it. 6 more weeks ! My original goal was 145, but I think I am going to go to 140 so it takes me out of the BMI - Overweight category. Not that that matters, but it's been drilled in my head for so long, It will be an accomplishment.
Yesterday was good, I have done the treadmill for 30 minutes everyday so far this month, it's been raining everyday too, I am over the rain.
@lauren_989 Don't give up. Do what everyone says, try one thing different, or just do what I do keep plugging away, eventually you will find what works for you. Don't let it get you down. Plus if you quit, you will just be mad at yourself.
Have a great day !6 -

Where things are today
Mood - positive and excited
Today, I need to address - getting ready for visitors. This is not something I do very often! BIL will be staying at my son's house (because dog). Former BIL and wife will be staying here. All will be eating together, so food planning has to happen. I'm usually the chaos kind of person, but for a few days I have to be all about order!
I do not want to - procrastinate
I absolutely will - be organised!
I refuse to - skip Pilates and strength workouts. Short Pilates before rehearsal, slow version of strength after rehearsal.
My one piece of advice for myself is - listen!
My one tip for others is - as usual, breathe. Take some time to really enjoy both inhaling and exhaling. Let it all go.
I have a lot to do - getting to it! I would say that my first version of "morning routine experiments" went well, and I am in action and more engaged than my usual morning, even though I slept in a bit.4 -

I believe I'm at least a little in the green. Yay! Also, only 3 lbs until the next decade and I think I can do that before I fly out on the 19th for Portland (Oregon).4 -
Some beautiful Wednesday numbers! @Gidgitgoescrzy I remember the first time you hit below 175 and how thrilled you were, and here you are almost 30 pounds less than that!! WTG And @MaddawgMadsen here you are almost in the new decade, and definitely in the green1

I just signed up to do a virtual 5k race that helps support the Save the Manatee foundation. It's called the Save the Chubby Mermaids race. The cool part is that it can be run anywhere at any time. There's no deadline for when it can be run. If anyone is interested in joining me, here is the link: https://runsignup.com/Race/CA/Anywhere/SaveTheChubbyMermaids?raceRefCode=k8lvIafK0

Ugh. That's all I can say. I have beeen in this group for a while now and I don't feel like I have made a major dent in my weight loss. I hate starting the month red, but I know I did it to myself. I feel like I am about to just give up.
Keep going, I can understand because I'm in the same boat. What I tell myself is what would my weight be without the group and some accountability?
I started my Peloton fitness challenge a day late and did a run yesterday. My legs are feeling it today in a good way. Doing some stretching today and out to walk the dog.1 -
@maddawgmadsen OMG thats so funny, I am joining you, just so I can get that shirt ! Chubby Mermaids... Haaaa haaaa

This week is really busy w work!
I also work a night schedule so my eating schedule is all over the place
However since joining this group on Sunday and committing to healthier habits I have been sticking to my diet and exercise routine
My goal is to get out of the 200s !4 -
So, I just typed a nice long post that didn't save 😑
Long story short, thank you everyone for your support! I am not giving up, just had a rough few weeks.
I am going to focus on tracking my food (I stopped a few weeks ago) and decrease my calorie deficit. I am going to work on consistency with eating, even if I don't lose weight as fast. I was eating 1300-1500 calories per day, but I am going to increase it to 1800 per day. We will see what happens with this. Today I tracked and am at 1710 calories. One day at a time is all I can focus on at the moment.8 -
Hugs all around for you wonderful people. Your courage and pluck are inspiring.
Thursday! Here it comes:
@ashleycarole86
@bowens1973
@eggfreak
and still hoping for news from @CarolAnnM2 - we miss you!
New people who have been quiet this week are also invited to come in and make noise
@trudy_eh and @RachelSibiya1 how is it going?
Thanks!1 -
Where things are today
Mood - determined
Today, I need to address - this blizzard! It is gorgeous. And the power will probably go out.
I do not want to - stall
I absolutely will - get out on the snowshoes
I refuse to - scatter my energies all over the place. Focus!
My one piece of advice for myself is - check off all the things on my today todo list.
My one tip for others is - feel jealous if you do not have a lot of snow coming down today
My new morning routine experiment is on day 2. I discovered that drinking a lot of water on an empty stomach is horrible. It gave me stomach and intestinal cramps and serious discomfort for a good 20 minutes. I'll stick with smaller amounts. Or herbal tea. Otherwise, the experiment is interesting!5 -

Enjoy your visitors @jugar
And you brought the snow back to Alberta too.. gee thanks!
@cleaneater80 I have that exact same thought. I have basically been gaining since January 2023 but I'm reminding myself I would have gained faster and more significantly if I wasn't here.
Have a great day all!4 -
Good morning Team,
I had a good day yesterday, although food intake was pathetic, I don't think I ate enough to keep a small child alive. I was sooo busy, I was teaching a co-worker how to do the bank rec, then I had a facial afterwork, So my food for the day consisted of a protein shake, a mini stroopwafel, and my sesame salad. By the time I got home from the facial it was past my eating time, and I still needed to get on the treadmill, which I did, so it was a super low calorie day.
I signed up for yoga class this sat, the Chubby mermaid 5k yesterday, made plans to go visit a friend in 2 weeks... Sounds like April is my time to rejoin society, I've been an absolute hermit since Oct last year.
Hope you have a wonderful day!

@Gidgitgoescrazy - glad to have another Galveston Diet person here. I was born in Baltimore and still have some family there.
The last couple of days I have been overwhelmed to the point of panic about clients and projects - just too many things to keep up with. I am headed out for a 2 days cabin & hiking trip with my 13 yr old daughter today - a much needed break. The time being present with her, in nature, and moving my body will do me a world of good.
Intermittent fasting & anti-inflammatory diet are going well overall. I've only had one day where I felt extra hungry.
I hope everyone finds focus and calm today, those are my goals!4 -
@jugar - I am happy that you get all the snow you love while I get a nice, sunny, almost 70 degree (Fahrenheit) day. No jealousy. Just grateful we each get what makes us happy.3

@jugar
I won't be able to post my weight Saturday, because I'll be away for the weekend.
Here is my weight stats for this weigh-in. Weighed this morning.
PW: 291
CW: 291
I'm in a plateau right now, and don't seem to be going anywhere with my weight.
Hopefully, next Saturday we'll see a loss and I'll be in the green.
Hope this is ok, Kmarie 😃3 -

Absolutely OK! You can always shift your day around when needed, or ask to be excused for a week if you are away or ill - we're pretty flexible! Have a great weekend!2 -
Snowshoeing today was fabulous! I know it won't last, so I enjoyed every minute. Sadly, I also ate like a crazy person, so I needed to burn off those calories!

Hello everyone!
@jugar I would like to rejoin the team on the support team. I am working on a new plan for myself. I will be spending the first few months working on my habits but won't be actively trying to loose weight until I have my habits down.
I'm Kristi from Spokane Wa. I'm 41, married with 3 kids. I work full time as an occupational therapist at a preschool center. I took a break due to a lot of stress. I am currently job hunting and have some very good leads on some part time school district jobs closer to home. This should help with stress. I have been working on increasing my calories over time and maintaining my current weight. I haven't been working out much. Definitely looking forward to some team support.6 -
@jugar Okay that is a beautiful picture, I bet snowshoeing in that is quiet and peaceful.
@conleywoods Welcome back Kristi, Good luck on the job hunt, I hope you find something that is not stressful.
I did not want to get on the treadmill last night, but I did it. I only have 20 minutes left on my show, so I have to find a new one.
It finally stopped raining, I am so glad, it was depressing.
Have a wonderful day, and weekend.

@conleywoods
Welcome - so great to see you back. Good news on the job front, sounds like some promising changes are in order for you!
We have been catching up on sleep this week around here. Brad hurt his knee so he's been getting some diagnostics done on that to rule out anything serious. TGIF!!3 -
Trying to change my relationship with failure.7 -

I made it to all of my workouts this week! This is the first week since... December? Maybe January. It was a surprise for some people in my spin class when I made two in a row. Today when my alarm went off, I wanted to go straight back to bed. I was (and still am) so tired! But, I needed a three-peat. I made it to all three classes this week! And, two evening CrossFit classes. My body is tired!6
-
congratulations on a fantastic workout week @MaddawgMadsen ! Your body will adjust to the new level of exercise over a few weeks - but be sure to give it a rest day from time to time. Both crossfit and spin are intense!
@StayFITTer your goal of getting to be friendlier with failure is a great one. Here's a good story about that. Before I retired, I was a professor of music, just so you get the context.
I had a colleague who really helped our university students get to love failure once they learned how to use it. We co-directed a concert at a high profile venue in Montreal one time. He was the director of the laptop orchestra (all live electronics), and I directed the contemporary music ensemble. We decided to do a joint venture - improvisation-based work, different combinations of class members, and two pieces for the entire gang, completely improvised. During the performance, the first full-group improvisation was awful. They weren't listening to each other, it was just a lot of individuals doing their thing, and the result was a bunch of chaotic noise, leading nowhere. A failure.
During the intermission, my colleague went to them with a huge smile and told them they were in a fantastic position - they had just failed miserably! But in the second half of the program they would get another chance! They would be able to think about what did not work, ponder why it did not work, and then get out there and try again with a different approach. They were surprised at how good it felt to have failed, because it gave them the opportunity to reach a height they could not have reached without having learned from that failure. And they did.
We all need work on that relationship. The self who failed deserves the support and cheers to figure it out, and to get out there and do it again in a new way to see how that works. Every time - and guaranteed it will never be "perfect"!3
