Okay @$$ movers, here's the new thread for the JUNE 2024 Move Your @$$ Challenge!

PLEASE READ the directions below.

We welcome all newbies and welcome back to the oldies!

"Rules of the Challenge"
1. Set your goal and post it to the thread....distance ONLY (Miles or KMs) - NO minutes, NO # of workouts, NO # of calories, NO # of steps - DISTANCE ONLY.
2. Make your ticker if you want to use one (see directions below or in the FAQ thread) or add your goal to the thread.
3. Get moving your @$$ starting on the first day of the month.
4. Post as often as you can to the thread so we can keep the sheet (see link below) up to date. You are welcome to report what you are moving each time BUT please make sure you post the TOTAL miles (or kms) moved each time you update.

Please don't post any previous month's miles here. We will continue updating the previous month's spreadsheet using the old thread for approximately the first 5 or so days of the new and current month. Please add only your current month's goals/miles to this thread. Got it?

The purpose is to set a distance goal (KM or Miles) and track your distance for the month - please only do one or the other...if you are doing KM just report in KM - we have a formula in the spreadsheet that will convert it to miles for us.

You are challenging yourself, not competing against anyone else.....the distance can be on a treadmill, stairmaster, elliptical, bike, roller blades, walking, running, biking, hiking, swimming (if you can measure).....just set a distance goal and do the work.

Report to the thread often to keep us updated because we track our info on a spreadsheet (see link below) so you can see how you are doing compared to the group but not to openly compete with them. Whatever goes on inside your own brain is your own business.

The idea is to set your goal and reach it before the end of the month.

Welcome to all - new and old.....have a great month challenging yourself!

Link to the Google spreadsheet where you can view (but not edit). The Challenge Admins will update it for you at mostly random times.....but typically a day or so. Don't hold us too tightly to that though.

Directions for making a ticker:
Go to either www.tickerfactory.com and create a Fitness ticker. Then copy the "BB code" and paste it into your posts on this thread each time you do an update. (More detailed info is located in the FAQ thread on the MYAC Group page.)

Welcome and we hope you enjoy your stay and that you find this helpful in realizing your fitness goals!

Thanks Dave and Janet for keeping me motivated to move.
@Dave: Thanks for the update on your FIL and wife. I'm glad she will not need surgery and FIL surgery went well, I know full well that stubborn streak. We basically told my dad that he did it our way or he could go live with my sister on her farm. He finally got it. We no longer gave him choices, we told him do your exercises or spend the rest of your life in some facility be it hospital or nursing home. My Piriformis syndrome came from lifting him from the left side.

I put in for 150 this month. Got lots of extra miles dog walking my neighbor's dog for a week. Not sure what I will get this round. My sciatica is still with me and I am going for acupuncture for my rangeless shoulder. I am afraid to stop moving for fear everything will freeze up. Wish I could get back on my bike.

My pup seems so much better. He wanted to play the last two days and this morning he is back to bringing me his toys in the am. He still wants his walks, but they have sped up. Next Friday he loses his manhood and gets a Gastropexy procedure. His platelet count has gone up as well as anemia. He did not have any tick diseases. He had a gastrointestinal infection. Thank you for good thoughts. My lean lab dropped two pounds being on a bland diet. Not good for him, so back to getting him to his 68 pounds.

    Happy June!

I'm in for 50 again. I'm hoping that will be easy and I'll be able to exceed it, but as I'm reading about all that life is throwing at some of you, we never know, do we? I'm back in New York where the weather is fantastic so I've been able to run or walk everyday. 2/50 this morning.

@clepant - so glad Brinkley is doing better! My labs were 68-70 pounds and the vet always commented how he wished other owners would kept their labs thinner.

@darkrider42 - Yikes! I'm just glad things didn't blow up during your mini-vacation. And glad things are going the right way.

@kar328 - I hope you get it sorted out. Sounds painful.

@Clepant - I'm glad Brinkley is doing better. How old is he now?

@GrandmaJackie - I love the photo of Parker and Pete! I'm sure San Antonio has changes since I was stationed there back in 1990  I did love the community there. There was so much diversity from the German community in New Braunfels, the old west history, the hispanic heritage, and the beautiful hill country. I really hope you have fun there. The only problem I had there was car theft. I had my car broken into twice. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING OF PERCEIVED VALUE IN YOUR CAR!!! I didn't mind loosing my wife's Garth Brooks cassette tape (yes I'm old). I hating having to take the time to have my window replaced.

@Dave - I am so glad that your wife isn't going to need another surgery. I confess I'm not the best patient. I could feel my foot swelling in the plaster splint they put on so I cut it off and put another one on. They weren't very happy about that. In all fairness, they wanted me to stay in bed for six weeks. Since we are short vets at the ER, that wasn't going to. happen. My foot was swelling because I was back to work two days after surgery. 😱 I'm sure you are making sure she is taking good care of her surgery site. She is lucky to have you to help.

The gym got it's money worth out of me today. The manager on duty was in an organizing/cleaning mode so guess what I ended up doing?

5.1 miles/30 I actually hit almost 15K steps at work today.

@GrandmaJackie - OMG, those guys are absolutely adorable.

@clepant - I've never gone to a chiropractor, I've always been nervous about getting my neck done wrong and rupturing a major blood vessel. I'm hoping the laser can do something, it really seemed to get rid of the bursitis issue. My recheck appt is in the morning and I will start dealing with this. After all my steps today, it's hurting.

I never have any neck manipulation. Just exercises that worked the hip. It definitely helped.

@Janet: I am happy that Brinkley is lean. My vet said he is getting so much exercise that I could boot up his. Food with higher protein and fat content. He was 67 lbs. but his bland diet dropped him to 65. He is my walking buddy. We really cover a lot of ground.

@Dean.: Brinkley just turned 19 months on the 29th. He graduated from Advanced Life Skills on Saturday.

@Dean: Brinkley went back to the vet this morning with a 104 temp that rose to 104.5 while there. Platelets dropped again. Put him on Doxycycline and ran cortisol test for Addison and blood clotting test. A shot of Dexamethasone to see if he had a bounce back in his energy level tomorrow, Put him on cooling pads. His fever is gone but he still is not back to his old self.😢
