    August Goals

    Miles tracked: 75
Apple Challenge: 14 walking workouts this month.

August is starting steamy for me. Humidity is in the high 80's so I'll be keeping inside today.

I watched some of the Olympics last night outside on the back porch. I've set up an old slide projector screen to use with my little modern projector. It ended up working pretty nicely. I need to add a better sound system b/c it was a bit hard to hear over all the crickets that were out in the yard. lol.

It was a little rough in the house yesterday. A work problem isn't going as smoothly as it should. It was stressing both Ry and myself. I know it's bad if Ry wants to stress eat and talks about missing a cheeseburger. 🍔 Instead I fried up an avocado for him. I had a little leftover prosciutto so I wrapped a few avocado slices in that and baked those. Sometimes the body just wants fats. 🤷🏼‍♀️

OK, I did not make my 3 miles/day goal (93 miles), but with 80.8 miles total, I analyzed why and found out I only worked out 16 days in July and I need to bump that up to increase my miles. I know crap went on, but still I need to focus on at least 1 mile a day of concentrated heart rate increase. This being said:
August Goals: Work out at least 25 days in August and do 3 mile walks on Sunday. Limit after dinner eating (ADE) to 5 days or less!
August 1: Just Walk: Walk Off Fat Fast: 30 Minute Big Burn: Miles: Total Garmin Miles: ADE

It is HHH here as well @Deeder522 and tomorrow is supposed to be even worse!! One of our goals was to stack wood for 1 hour each day, but we could not do it today. It is just too hot and humid for us to do that kind of work. It also looks like tomorrow is not going to work out either. At least the wood is getting good and dry! :ohwell:
Stress is also not good for Ryan so it must have really been a rough day for you two! Thank goodness for the Olympics as they are a great distraction. Dennis and I usually are a bit snappy at each other when it gets HHH like this, but we have been watching the Olympics every night after dinner with our dessert (ice cream of course) and they have been a nice diversion from the heat. We have not been snappy at all as we have been comparing notes on our swimmers and gymnasts!
I slept most of yesterday as the filling and the 3 hour drive did me in. I hate fillings in the back teeth because my mouth is small and my jaw, cheek and corners of my mouth are sore for 2 days afterward. I got home at 12:30 and fell asleep until 5:30! Dennis, bless him, made dinner and then I fell asleep during the Olympics and did not hear a thing until 8:30AM this morning!!!! He said he thought I died so he made sure I was breathing! Thankfully, it's over and I do not have another one for another 9 years!!!!

Struggled through a Walk n Talk with Jessica Smith this morning.

We had some rain come through last night which is nice. It didn't break the H&H. It looks like early next week before it becomes more comfortable.

I have work scheduled for the next several days. I have 1 client upgrading their computer system and then an old client reached out needing a new machine as well.
Also, I'm still fighting Cocmast for another client.

I am surprised you are having problems with Comcast as they were great with us. They are not great on refunds for outages, but beyond that, we liked them better than Charter, which is who we had first when we lived in Davison. They were really bad. Here we have Spectrum and Comcast wanted to buy them out, but NYS said "Nope-no monopolies allowed here!" Spectrum is good though so no complaints-except for Mac eliminating ports. :grumble:
I tried a Jessica Smith walk first and could not get into it, so I went back to Leslie, but I am going to look through her older stuff because I need a change. I need more 2 mile walks (30 Minutes) that are fun. Leslie was a slog today for some reason!
    Stay cool!

Friggin hot again today. There was no workout except laundry and some basement cleaning. All that running a household stuff adds up. Furnace filter change, add salt to softener, Shower/tub cleaning, floors. I swear it's getting worse with age. 🤣
We did get our new mailbox and post-installed this week. We also moved it to the other side of the driveway. I can see much better when trying to pull out and I love having a bigger mailbox.

I hemmed and hawed a bit this morning before deciding to do 1 mile with Leslie. I went through her YouTube page and found 1 of her workouts that was just her. It was from Walk with the Ball which is a DVD I had never heard of. No ball work in the video but I could see the big ball in the background.
Is anyone familiar with that DVD?

I got my early morning chores out of the way including turning on the sprinkler, only for it to rain 10 minutes later. LOL.
I have work booked for almost the entire week so I'm about to feel very busy and probably overwhelmed a bit by the time Friday comes along.

Well, the only thing I am doing consistently is not eating after dinner!!! Honestly, Dennis and I simply could not take the heat anymore and went to an Air Conditioned Hotel for the weekend and watch the Olympics! Neither of us could face moving ... so we didn't! I know, First World problems right. :blushing: Today, the air was cool and dry and I opened this house up and cleaned it from top to bottom, did all my laundry and even managed a 30 minute workout!!!! My energy is BACK!!!! I can take the heat for a few days but the oppressive humidity this weekend did me in.
I hear you about cleaning an old bathroom. They do seem to get worse with age. The one in this house was from 1963 and the tub, sink and toilet were all blue, the walls were a kind of textured material and the floor was that old 1X1 tile that is placed in a pattern, blue of course and the grout was so old that it was permanently discolored. I would try to wash the walls and it would destroy any cloth or sponge so I used a brush and water went all over. Bleach does nothing on a blue toilet I learned and forget the floor. Even a brush did not help it. The darn thing was always CLEAN, but it looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks. I was very happy to see that go!!!!
Enjoy your busy work week Ca Ching!!!!

I washed my windows today .. well one set anyway. The spiders are ubiquitous up here and their webs are all over the outside of my windows and I can't stand them. We have huge windows lake side and they are so high off the ground that I cannot reach them. I need to use a long handled swiffer from the inside to get the webs off and it is a mess. They stick to everything. The side windows are designed to be cleaned inside and out from the inside, but the big stationary windows are the ones they like ... of course!!!! :explode: Anyway, the living room windows look much better and Saturday, I will tackle the dining room windows. I really need to find a window washer for this house to battle the spiders and their feasts!!!! :blushing:
It was another beautiful day in the north country although they are threatening us with Hurricane Debby's aftermath. We are sitting just to the west of the "extreme flood" line so it could go either way for us. The mountains tend to drain fairly well but we we have some rivers that will sometimes flood in the spring so it might get dicey. Florida should just keep its water right down there as far as I am concerned!!!

Today was the busiest day. Tomorrow will be busy as well. Today and tomorrow are new workstation setups. Which is kind of fun in that I'm setting up a new computer but the mental interaction with the client can be exhausting. I get home and I feel like I just did a 5k.

The heat broke yesterday and I've been in jeans again. lol I think we are safe from anything Debby is throwing out there. Ryan has always been the type to make sure we are on higher ground wherever we've lived. For someone who loves to swim, he sure doesn't want water surrounding his house. Unless maybe if its a moat. 🤣🤣

I've finished my busy work week and can start to relax and refocus on some fitness.
Ry made a few laps on his bike last night after dinner. Very exciting for him. Today he has PT.

    Happy weekend!

It was a very breezy 1-mile walk outside today. 💨

Ry had a rough night last night and dropped 3 pounds after spending time in the bathroom. 😖

I took it easy this weekend. Today I did with 1 Miracle Mile.
Ry is slowly rebounding from last week's rough night. I was able to bike 5 laps around the farm yesterday. We'll pace for the next couple of days.
Tomorrow I have an early breakfast date so my walking workout may have to wait until the evening.

@Deeder522 Nice work on the exercising consistently. I have been sticking with my Leslie every day this month and the scale has budged a bit. Sorry I haven’t posted at all in August, but I have been reading your posts and following your activity. Also sorry Ry was sick and OMG 3# lost is crazy. I decided to join a MFP challenge. 10# by October 31. I’m confident I’ll get there with the help of this group. Have a great Tuesday!! My goal is Leslie tonight.

I did a 1-mile walk around the cornfield last night. I saw a Pileated Woodpecker, a flock of Turkey Vulters, a flock of turkeys, and a 1 bunny.

Unfortunately, I was also starting to get sick. Sore throat, sinus congestion, and a cough now and then. Tested myself for Covid with an at-home test, glad to say it was Negative.
So today will be a rest day and will have to take it easy the rest of the week. 🙁

2nd C-19 test was still Negative but I spent all day yesterday in bed. I'm semi-functional today but having to pace myself because I get tired quickly. It's mostly down to a severe cold now.
Just a bit of a set back.

Covid + this morning. I'm hoping the worst of it was last night when I spiked at a temperature of 102 and my heart started working like I was doing a Leslie video.
Ry also tested + this morning too. I think he's 1.5 days behind me.
My friend in NY said she has serval co-workers out with it right now too.

Saturday night was unpleasant. It felt like a fever without an actual fever. Today my symptoms are slowly ending down to coughing congestion and fatigue. I get tired quickly, so I'll be pacing myself for a while.

    Walk for me, girls!

I'm getting back in action today, all be it slowly. I'm about 85% recovered with just a few things holding me back. I can tell my energy has returned, so I wanted to do everything, but I know I can't push like that. Luckily, work is quiet right now. That isn't something I'm normally grateful for.
The business, by the numbers, has been kinda dreadful.

After a week down I have to make it to get groceries. The weather looks nice so maybe so gentle outdoor walks will help clear the rest of this out.

I have had a rough week and a half!! I have no idea why other than it has been one thing after another. We got hammered with rain from Hurricane Debby and I needed to go in the torrent to unplug our culvert drain. I got behind on washing my windows and that put me in the dumps. Dennis is complaining about his right knee a lot because he is doing more than he should and without pain killers, his right knee is in very bad shape. Please send good mojo to keep me from killing him before Setp 27 when he goes in for surgery on the right knee!!!! :blushing: Now it is freaking raining again and I am over it all!!!
Yesterday, my son texted me a ton of pictures of flooding from torrential rains in Austria. I was totally freaked out because I did not know they went to Austria!!!! A little tid bit he did not mention!!!! UGH!!!! Thankfully, I did not worry since I did not know I had to, but Geez, what if something had happened. Kids do not grow up even when they are 44!!!! :ohwell:
Anyway, today I decided to pull up my big girl pants and JUST DO IT!!!! ( I actually wear Reboks, but Nike has a better slogan for me  ) Then I come here and see that you two are dealing with COVID and I feel like a real putz!!! NY is experiencing a rise in COVID infections and we are supposed to go to a class reunion this weekend. I am going to social distance for sure and you two have reminded me that COVID is not gone. I feel so bad for Ryan-that poor guy takes 3 steps forward and 4 back. I am amazed at his strength and yours @Deeder522!
My plan is to be much more disciplined through the end of August, but come September, and my favorite season, i intend to become very dedicated to my health! You both heard it here right? Get well you two!!! Til tomorrow!

Popping back in to say I'm in the slow recovery stage now. It will be a while before I have the stamina for a 15-minute workout. Mostly, I'm doing stretching b/c I'm sitting so much. I'm sleeping through the night again. C-19 recovery isn't much more fun than the actual infection.

    Stay Healthy!

Sorry for the double post. For some reason, MFP did not show my post even after I refreshed several times so I though I lost it. This site has been doing some strange things lately.
@deeder522 I am so sorry you are still so sick. I am surprised you are even able to do muscle work considering how fatigued you must be! I am glad you are able to sleep again though as that goes a long way to getting well.
@lclark04957 Thanks! I am trying to be consistent but there is just too much going on this month. I need a job! Retirement is killing me!
I'll be gone for the next two days for my husband's 60th class reunion. These people stay in touch with each other and have for 60 years! Small town rural schools create bonds that last a long time. It's sweet. While we are down there, I am also going to visit my sister, but we'll be back Sunday night and hopefully, I can get in a 15 minute walk!
    Til then, walk strong!

I decided to push myself a little today so finished Leslie’s Miracle Mile. It’s a 30 minute 3-mile workout. It’s a good pace. I used to do it quite a bit a few years ago, but stopped. Not sure why. Lack of motivation, stamina, age, or maybe a combination of all three. But I decided I miss it and will make it a goal for me in September to try and do it at least 1x per week. 2 would be ideal. Have a great weekend everyone, and I hope @Deeder522 is feeling better and @zichab enjoys the reunion!!

I've decided that Monday will be my first walking workout officially. I postpone work for 1 more day to have the long weekend to continue healing. I got an excellent night's sleep last night. I think my stamina is slowly building back up.

I hope you enjoy the reunion, @zichab.

@lclark04957 I have the Miracle Miles set and have been considering trying to do it again. I've never made it all the way through.
