HOW IT ALL WORKS: The January challenge runs for five weeks, from December 29th - February 1st.
Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!
We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leader board. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get January on the road!

Hello Slimpossibles!
I'm Mica, one of the maintainers of the team.
I am a semi-retired bookkeeper; I work 3 days a week at a plastics factory. I started my weight loss journey at 220 lbs in 2001. I reached my goal weight of 130 at the end of 2003. But I regained (not all of it) and had some up/down weight cycles of about 3 years each...finally succeeded in maintaining in my range successfully. I've been holding pretty steady since 2019. Determined never to regain.
Most of my exercise is walking. I do a short strength training workout early in the morning. If weather prevents me from walking, I have a stationary bike, a walking pad, and an elliptical for cardio workouts.I sometimes do yoga in the evenings.
I look forward to getting back into my maintenance range asap, and staying slim for January. 💙 My teammates keep me accountable!💙
Below is my weigh in from Saturday December 28:

Weigh In Day: Saturday
PW: 130.3

Maintenance range: 127-133, center weight 130. I'm OUT of my maintenance range. Food has been a free for all. Holiday shenanigans are over. Back On Plan Now.

Hi everyone! I am a 45 year old empty nester 🥳 in Alabama. I work a full time desk job, teach step aerobics twice a week, and help my chef husband on occasion with large catering jobs. I am always on the move so I know all to well that I cannot out-train a bad diet.
Holidays and a trip to Nashville (just got back today) has been anything goes so it's time to get back on track.
Glad to be on the team and I look forward to getting to know you all!
My comfortable weight is about 160 ish

Hi Mission Slimpossibles! I'm Kathy, I co-captain Mission Slimpossibles with the amazing @trooworld and @micaroo4 is our wonderful motivator. I've been part of this team since the start of 2019 and was our motivator until a little over year ago when I became co-captain. I live in the Sacramento area with my two cats and have a new roommate moving in on the 1st. I'm currently trading office work for treatment with a functional medicine practitioner as I'm trying to improve/heal CRPS and spinal issues. I also file claims, volunteer for the food bank farm and in their greenhouse at the high school, and have my own big garden. I'm looking for a different group to volunteer with as I just resigned as secretary for a local charity and miss it. I do seated cardio, weights, and stretching most days but am coming back from a week break due to a burn on my lower arm, wrist, and hand.
I'm in charge of logging all the weigh-ins, if you're unable to weigh in due to travel or being sick please let me know preferably in advance so you aren't dropped from the team. I'd appreciate it if you try to weigh in even if it's a bad week as we all go through the challenging days and no one will be upset with you if you've gained. I think of the weigh-ins as a friendly competition as you aren't in trouble or letting us down if you gain, we're all rooting for each other to do well and understand the ups and downs of this.
Let's have an amazing January!1 -
@trooworld Lauren put down today's weigh-in for you, she entered everything from when she closed December's chat (thank you!). I bet you're sick of liquids! What kind of pureed foods can you do? That feta soup from skinnytaste is pureed does that count? I did go to the ER, they gave me some bandaging stuff and recommended bacitracin. I have a couple different kinds one has zinc and aloe. I haven't gotten into my actual aloe plants I'll go to the burn center Thursday and figured I could ask more questions then but the ER had said aloe and honey are fine. It takes up a lot of space and I'm using a lot to keep it wet so that's the main reason I haven't (I ordered a 6 pack of bacitracin and go through 1/5 a container each time I change it). Hugs I'm sorry the walking was too much, I'm glad you're feeling better today take it easy.
@TeresaW2024 Lauren already took care of getting you and Chris's weigh ins in the spreadsheet. I still need to weigh in I wanted to wait until the 1st but will do it on the 31st. Thank you! I wish you had a Spaghetti Factory too it's a fun place especially with kids. LOL the burn has been itching since the beginning, it's been peeling the last couple days and that's crazy itchy! Hugs I love your attitude about it going to be a great year, you got this!
@19shmoo69 How the heck are you?
December week 4 winners you all rocked it being at the top! Way to go @Jactop @txcritter69 @19shmoo69 @gemwolf110 !

@AprilRaineyBattle Hi it's great to meet you! We're happy you're here, welcome. Your weigh-in day is on Monday, does that work for you or would you like to change it?
Hi team! I cleaned, gardened, ran to the store, and walked the neighborhood for awhile with a friend. I'm waiting to hear my work schedule this week but the first few days I'll still be getting the house ready for Renee to move in, have to spend a lot more time in the garage. Not much else is new, have a great Monday!1 -

Been in this group since early 2020ish, I think
I've struggled with weight since young adulthood. I've lost decent amounts a couple of times and gained it back. I've used multiple methods. Now at my "mature" age, it's a real struggle to get the scale moving down. (moving the scale up is super easy!) It's discouraging, but I'm not giving up.

New Year, same me lol
I'm Bethanie and I'm a 40 yo 911 telecommunicator. I have a caffeine addition I'm on Zepbound which is helping tremendously. And my my bum heel is finally starting to feel better.
I haven't been active in the group the past several months. I had to train a new dispatcher from June to September; then another new on starting in October. I do most of the interacting at my job so no dice. I've also spent the past 3 months being moved between mids and night shift. They're 12 hour shifts so I've worked 1200-0000 or 1800-0600; back and forth.
I'm finally back on days 0600-1800 and I'm happy3 -

MY INTRODUCTION
Hi everyone. My name is Chris. I live in Southern California with my husband, cute one-eyed pirate pug named Daisy (8 yrs old) and pug pup name Violet who is 2 yrs old. Up until my mid-20s, I was a healthy weight but then the mid-20s hit and along with that came medications that made me gain weight as well as poor lifestyle choices. At my highest weight, I was 256 lbs. I just had gastric bypass surgery on Dec 20, 2024 to save my life. I had to do something fast as I was losing my mobility. I hope to get down to around 165 lbs, or whatever is healthy for me. For exercise, I like to walk with my husband and friends. Up until my surgery, my arthritis in my knee limited me a lot. I am doing a lot better since surgery. Besides walking, I do water aerobics. My husband and I love to cook, I've got 8,892 recipes saved but who's counting? LOL Seriously, I do and they are all organized, so if you need a recipe for ANYTHING, let me know! I've got everything from healthy foods to pet treats to recipes for cleaning supplies. My hobbies: reading, making artwork and crafts, photography, and cooking. I do straight-up calorie counting of healthy foods.
Now, it's your turn! Tell us about YOU!

Way to go @Jactop @txcritter69 @19shmoo69 @vegan4lyfe2012 @askewcr and @gemwolf110 for making it onto the leaderboard!
@TeresaW2024 I hope that, besides church, you stay out of the storm! Sorry about the cupcakes. You have a good attitude about the new year.
@AprilRaineyBattle Ooh is that challenging having a chef for a husband? I hope you had a good trip.
@Katmary71 Okay, so is my starting weight the current weight (239.0 lbs) or the previous weight (240.6 lbs)? Sorry, I am a bit confused. And yes, I am sick of liquids lol. I had a moment of clarity yesterday that was this: I am thinking about regular foods because I haven't been able to chew and I've been having the same things for weeks now lol. I don't start pureed until probably Friday but I believe that feta soup from Skinnytaste would work, good idea! Oh good, I'm glad you went to the ER and glad you are going to the burn center. Wow, that must be a big area to use so much bacitracin. I'm sorry that happened to you. Thank you. Wow, what a busy day you had yesterday!
@19shmoo69 I agree with @Cornanda, I miss you!
@AprilRaineyBattle Congrats on the loss!
Hi all. This weekend (both days), I had a funny experience: I was wearing yoga pants and my underwear bagged down to below my butt as I walked. This has never happened before and I thought it was the underwear on Saturday but when it happened again on Sunday, I am thinking I am losing enough for them to start to bag lol. A good problem to have, no? We did a little running around yesterday. We ended up at the coffee shop reading, which was nice. My goal for today is to start organizing my clothes by size so that as I go down in sizes, I will have stuff to wear.

My phrase for the year: "New year, new me!"1 -
Hi, I'm Teresa, and I've been here for a long time! I live in Athens, Georgia, with my husband, mom, sister, and little dog. I also live in the same town as my niece and her four little kiddos, who you will hear me talking about a lot. I work part-time as my church's administrative assistant and am very thankful for the flexibility I'm given to work mostly from home on my own schedule.
I have struggled with my weight since I was 12 years old. I've lost and gained over the years, with my most significant loss of 80 lbs. reached three years ago. But my husband's health declined, and he developed dementia, which has been a huge stressor. I also dealt with a lot of family stuff, and my coping was to turn back to food. Unfortunately, most of the weight I lost has come back on. It comes back on soooo fast!!
I am so tired of going into my closet and having nothing to wear because it's full of smaller-size clothes that I can't fit into. This year, I turn 59 and have set a goal to lose 75 lbs., which is just 1.44 lbs. a week! I am NOT going to be here at this time next year, still talking about how much weight I have to lose and how much my feet and back hurt. I deserve more than that, and I'm going to make it happen! Let's have an awesome 2025!!2 -
Hi - hopefully I'm doing this right Copying my intro from the end of the Dec thread.
I'm Jess, I'm 38 and live in New Zealand. I work in an office in a role that is basically being a professional nagger. Long hours and stress mean I've really dropped the ball on tracking and being active.
Feels like I don't have much of a life outside of work at the moment, but I enjoy going to see a show/live music, and have been thinking about picking up dragon boating if I can organise my time properly.
One of my goals in 2025 is to spend no money on clothes as I have a wardrobe spanning multiple sizes and my house will explode if I buy more!
@TeresaW2024 Always good to meet fellow naggers hahah. I've also set MFP to lose about 75lb at 1.5 a week so I hope we both see success in December! You asked about dragon boating - it's kinda like rowing, but with 20 people and facing forward. The boats also have carved dragon heads/tails (I think it has an origin in China)
@micaroo4 I love your baby steps ideas for the walking, I will give that a try. I tend to better if I schedule things in and 10 min to start is much easier than finding 30/60 minutes.
@trooworld Your underwear story is hilarious, a good problem to have indeed! Sounds like you'll be needing those organized clothes quickly.3 -

Quick check in. I feel like Christmas was so hit and miss but mostly a miss with tracking and eating.
My brother and nephew arrived 2 nights ago and I am still helping out at the new agility place with lots of painting. Still busy but not hectic. Went to the store yesterday and got fruit and veggies, then washed and cut them up so that is a start. I also tracked yesterday and I have a plan for my food today as well. Haven't been to the gym in ages, I am doing exercises in my room before my company wakes up. Baby steps...
I am tired as are my girls, they actually both fell asleep on my lap last night with Ty lying on Vannie as well, that was a shocker that Vannie allowed that and neither one moved for 45 min

from cornanda, @micaroo4 - what do you change when your weight goes out of range? You are such a successful maintainiac. Please share.
@Cornanda - Just small tweaks. I add more vegetables and cut back on the carbs. Specifically planning to add more soups with lots of greens. Fills me up, but cuts the calories. I also will ramp up the exercise a bit. I cut way back in December due to the cold, the dark, and being otherwise occupied. It's still cold and dark, but I have more time now that the holidays are over - and I have more motivation, now that I'm out of my maintenance range!

It might be worth exploring! I tried it for my 30 minute a day of intentional exercise goal. Here is how it went...
MY PROMPT I INPUTTED: Hello! I'm a bariatric patient. I want to define the following goal for 2025: increase my intentional exercise to 30 minutes a day. Please help me break that goal down.
CHATGPT's RESPONSE: That's a fantastic goal! Here’s how you can break it down into manageable steps:
1. Set a Baseline
Assess Current Activity: How much intentional exercise are you currently doing? This will help determine the starting point.
Track Your Activity: Use a fitness tracker or app to record your daily movement for a week.
2. Create a Gradual Plan
Start Small: If you're new to exercise, begin with 5–10 minutes daily and gradually increase by 5 minutes every 2–3 weeks.
Incorporate Variety: Choose low-impact activities that you enjoy, like walking, swimming, or cycling.
3. Schedule Your Workouts
Set a Time: Pick a consistent time each day for your exercise.
Build a Routine: Tie your workout to an existing habit, like after breakfast or before dinner.
4. Plan for Barriers
Identify Obstacles: Think about what might get in the way (e.g., weather, motivation).
Prepare Alternatives: For example, have an indoor workout plan for rainy days.
5. Stay Accountable
Track Progress: Keep a log of your workouts to monitor improvement.
Seek Support: Join a fitness group or involve a friend for accountability.
6. Celebrate Milestones
Reward yourself for reaching small goals, like completing 15 minutes a day for a week.
7. Consult Your Healthcare Team
Ensure your exercise plan is safe and aligns with your post-bariatric needs. A physical therapist or personal trainer familiar with bariatric patients could provide tailored advice.
Would you like me to help you create a detailed weekly plan or suggest specific types of exercises?
I then asked it to give me a detailed weekly plan and it did. It gave me a plan breaking everything down and it was very helpful. I think I will do this with other goals!
Want to try it? Go to: https://chatgpt.com/ it's free and easy to use!2 -
@jellytree You did it perfectly! Thanks, I agree, a good problem to have. I do think I'll need the organized clothes sooner than later!
@laurelfit57 It's hard during the holidays but I'm sure you did your best. Cutting up fruit is a great idea! Aww, what a cute pic!

My phrase for the year: "New year, new me!"2 -
Hey! I’m sleepy girl from Canada. I like to complain about the weather and my busy schedule. My name is true to me. I like to sleep and am typically fighting my iron levels. I’m hit and miss on here but eventually poke my head in. I have 2 boys, 10 and 16 and work full time. My hubby is soon starting a work shift where he will be gone for 8 days and home for 6. He’s our main cook as I dislike cooking and can’t come up with ideas the kids will like. So might need to do some meal prep soon. My dog is my main exercise buddy as he will go out in blizzards, rain storms or heat. Hoping to get back to our work gym, but will see how my schedule is with hubby gone.3

My intro:
Hello everyone and welcome to all our newbies! My name is Jennifer and I’m a single 50 year old. I have an American Blue rabbit (her name is Kismet). I have 3 children in their 20s and they have all blessed me…I went from zero to 4 grandchildren in the past 20 months and #5 is due in February! Son Marcus and DIL Ashley have Sophie (20 mo) and will be induced February 10th due to pediatric aortic stenosis (Amelia). Daughter Sydney has Oliver (10 mo). Daughter Hunter and SIL Michael have Byron (18 mo) and Brayden (6 mo). I go by Grammy since I consider them to be my Grammy Awards 😊
Here's a picture of my mother, children and grands:
L to R: Sydney holding her son Oliver, my mother, Hunter holding her her daughter Brayden and my son's daughter, Sophie, and Marcus holding Hunter's son Byron.
I love to rubber stamp (I’m a Stampin’ Up demo) and make cards. I'm an active member of my church, and also love horror movies. I have worked in Community Development at my County for almost 20 years.
I have always been a yo-yo dieter, but mainly up. When I lose weight, I can never seem to keep it off for longer than a year. I have 57 pounds to lose (goal is 150). I am a Negative Nancy, but I am trying to stay focused and positive. I am using a daily planner to note anything of use…how I’m feeling, if I have an NSV, if I have something good or bad happen, etc. I’m hoping I can look back after each month to see if there are any patterns. I am also planning on buckling down with resistance bands and building strength.
My Mantra: 2025 is MY year!3 -
@askewcr – Praying for a quick recovery!
@Katmary71 – Thank you for the card! Such an unexpected, sweet surprise! I won’t be trying Chocolate Ginger Turmeric. I don’t like chocolate. @micaroo4 listed that one. I don’t have a fancy tea journal. Hunter had gotten me a very pretty lined journal with a dragonfly on the front. I thought about what I wanted to write in it and decided a few years back that I would keep track of my teas. Each company is listed on its own page. I write the flavor, note if it’s black, white, green, rooibos, herbal, oolong, jasmine, chai or mate. Then, after smelling it and drinking it, I decide on a score from 0 to 10. Sometimes I’ll add an extra note, but that’s basically it. Just counted. I have 32 companies listed so far. Here’s a picture of the pages of Ohio Tea Company (my favorite) so you see what I mean. It’s really just for myself. I agree with the loose leaf balls. They let too much through. I like the fine mesh strainers. I don’t babysit for Hunter on a regular basis. She’s a SAHM. I helped her out all the time, though, with diapers and rocking and feeding…but she said I never helped her with anything. That was a serious bone of contention. Anyway, I think you may have her confused with Sydney. I watch her son, Oliver, 4 to 5 days a week while she works.
@Cornanda – Hugs on the weight gain. I have shared a picture of Kismet before, but it’s been quite a while. Here she is in all her softness (she feels like how I imagine a cloud would feel).
@trooworld – I’m glad you were able to start the healing process at home. Not sure what your MIL was thinking. Oof. And Woot Woot on the loss already!
@digger61 – Hugs and prayers!
@19shmoo69 – Hoping you start sleeping better! You are missed!
I HAVE THE HOUSE BACK TO MYSELF!!! Of course, Hunter doesn’t have all her and the babies’ things completely out yet, but I’ll make sure it happens soon. My kitchen is a literal mess. It’s going to take several days to clean up what she left. I’m sure I’ll cuss and stomp the entire time about it, but it’s gonna get done. She’s extremely happy with their new apartment. I’m very impressed, too. Generous sq ft layout. She called today to tell me that Byron would stand by his bedroom door and yell, “Da-da!”. When Michael would respond, Byron would laugh and shut his door. He may only be 18 months, but he knows his space! Hahaha!
I overindulged during Christmas, even though I said I wasn’t. At least I can say I’m ending the month lower than when I started. Shut up! I know it’s just 1 pound, but I’m taking it as a win! (Please read that as I intend – being silly!)
2025 is MY year!
