Which watch model did you get @lauren_989
I got a new one too - my old one was starting not to hold battery anymore

@Alatariel75 you bet - I've got you down!

    Dec 31 exercise:
    7639 steps + 33 minutes Peloton

    I got the Forerunner 255

I like it mostly so far. I just noticed that it doesn't capture all my steps. I just walked around the room into another and my step count stayed the same 🤷🏼‍♀️

Not unhappy with that, considering how the holidays have gone!

    Sounds good @strong_fit_ells
And hey - weighing the same a year ago is a definite accomplishment!! Can't wait to see what progress you make in 2025

Started our year off with another Peloton ride
It really does feel good to be moving our bodies again in this way

Just myself and @lauren_989 who reported in for week 4 of the December step challenge so I'll just highlight:

#1 for the entire month was @zankash23 with 226862 steps
Both myself and @lauren_989 reported in for every day of the month and only 10k steps separated our month end totals
In week four @lauren_989 met her pledge three days to my one.. a feat given the time of year!

Looking forward to an active 2025!

Happy New Year! I logged all my food today. Took a walk yesterday but didn’t do any specific exercise today yet.

I still have a few gatherings including my daughter’s birthday on the 3rd. We’ll probably go out to dinner. I’m also meeting up with friends tomorrow for lunch. Once I get back to school next Monday it should be easier with my normal schedule. I’m also going to try to get back to the gym. We have an amazing gym at school. I just have to be brave enough to workout in front of a bunch of high schoolers.

I can be brave and do it.

I'm struggling this week. I'm trying to make the best choices but the holidays were... not great, and although I love my mother in law, she's been here for 9 days and I'm not coping with having a house guest this long, especially one who is very negative about everything.

It was a really long and wearing year, and I really needed some down time in this break and I've definitely not had it. MIL goes home Sunday and I go back to work Monday, and I just want to cry at the thought.

At least once I'm back at work and have my house to myself, I can truly get back on track instead of having to cater to a guest and stick around instead of going for my long walks.

Going back to work will almost be a blessing. At least I will have some peace and quiet, and routine.

Happy Monday, oh wait I mean Thursday ! I am so happy we are getting back to normal, it's been crazy.

Yesterday we did our 1st day hike, and it was not as crowded as I thought it would be, because it was super windy, but we did 3 miles, then I had to go hunt down the ranger to get my sticker, he was way on the other side of the park too.
I also did 20 min of pilates when I got home, I am doing the down dog January challenge also.

Food was good and I tracked it, but it could have been better. I am just glad the holidays are over, and I can resume normal schedules.

    Have a great day !

    Hi Team, Happy New Year.

I'm Joann, I live in Alberta and work full time in Public Health and also slowly taking my MPA. I have a 10 year old daughter and 2 year old German shepherd dog that keeps us active. The end of 2024 was rough I was finishing 2 classes that really wiped me out but had a good break the last few weeks and feel like I am ready to start 2025 with some new energy and perspective. I was in Texas just before Christmas for my brothers wedding and had a great trip and much needed break. Now that I'm home I've had time to put my house in order and do some reflecting.

@strong_fit_ells I also didn't lose any weight this year but it was a heavy year and my attention was focused elsewhere a good part of the year. I feel really accomplished that I didn't gain.

@Alatariel75 It sounds like you have a difficult relationship with your mom, and 9 days is a lot being in close quarters. Hope you can find some peace and rest now that you are back to having your space.

Small loss. I will take it. No steps yesterday and probably very few today. I seem to be coming down with whatever chest and sinus congestion illness my husband had this last week. I am so tired of being sick, but hopefully this is the last of it.

    @ashleycarole86
    Sunday, December 29 - 7,165 steps - 2 hours of pickleball
    Monday, December 30 - 7,994 steps - 1 hour of CrossFit
    Tuesday, December 31 - 6,812 steps
    Wednesday, January 1 - 161 steps

@lauren_989 - I switched from Fitbit to Garmin a little over a year ago. I made the switch because my Fitbit suddenly stopped holding a charge after only a couple of months. The Garmin still holds a charge for almost a week. I love this about it. It does not count as many steps as what the Fitbit counted. That would be about my only complaint. But, it could also be that the Fitbit counted more steps than I was actually getting. Overall I am glad I made the switch to Garmin. I hope you like yours too.

Oh! And, I have the Venu Sq

@cleaneater80 not really, my mum in law and I get along well and love each other, it's just very tiring having a guest in the house, and I wish I got to spend some of my 2 weeks off not playing host. She has different tastes and levels to us/me in meals and entertainment, so I feel like I've spent all my time off having to do and eat what someone else wants. That's just standard for guests, I guess? My only real issue is that she's a very negative person, and that gets really wearing. Her favourite topics of conversation are things that she hates or wants to vent about, and I'm not usually like that so I find it confronting.

    Roll on Sunday.

I had 2 good days here again. I need to get back into eating smaller meals and drinking enough water. I feel like when I increase my water, it helps with my hunger. I have tracked every day for the last 6 days as well!

@strong_fit_ells you maintained this year and didn't gain, so that's a win!

@cleaneater80 welcome back! I'm glad you were able to get a little break and some down time.

@Alatariel75 I know what you mean by having a guest in the house. Even if it's my parents (and not in-laws) I feel the same way and on alert.

@MaddawgMadsen that's good news about the length of charge on the garmen! I really am liking it so far.

@ashleycarole86 excellent job getting on the peleton! It can be hard after not exercising for a while. Keep it up! :)

I was down a little today so hopefully that holds for tomorrow. Honestly, I have not been fully committed to be perfect yet. With the holiday, some gatherings, and my daughter’s birthday, it has been hard. I think I have done a fair job maintaining so I’m not too worried but I look forward to getting my act together and have those perfect days.

I have been logging my food. I got a pretty cool stamper set at Target tonight. It has a tracker, water tracker, and a few other stamps. I have a journal I am stamping them in and keeping track in there. It helps to physically make a check for me.

We are supposed to go back to school on Monday and now they are calling for snow so we may get a snow day. We shall see.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Yesterday was good, although I did find a stray candy cane that I had to eat. I love candy canes, so I do buy myself 1 box each year, even though I don't use them for the tree anymore.

I did restorative yoga yesterday, I seem to have done something to my shoulder, I think maybe I did not use the best form while I did farmer carries. I swear it's always something. Hopefully it goes away quickly.

Have a great friday, and enjoy your weekend.

    Friday weigh in (on time!)

    PW 222.6
    CW 221.2

I’ll take it considering I’m easing back in. I closed out my diary yesterday. And….drum roll…I made myself get on my mat and do 15 minutes of Pilates this morning. It felt so good to do it. I can’t remember my last time. So my 10 minute goal is done ✅ .

@ashleycarole86 So glad to hear you and Brad are taking on the Peloton 100 day challenge. I know you can do it!! And I’ll be waiting for your daily report. Not quite as sophisticated here, but my husband hooked up our old wii. It’s still a lot of fun and an easy way to get in 10 minutes of exercise if I haven’t done it some other way. We are expecting two rounds of some snow so no excuses.

Tonight we’re celebrating my daughter 37th birthday at a new restaurant called Terrain. It looks really good and has some great choices for healthy meals. I’ll take photos.

@Gidgitgoescrzy Sorry to hear your good effort to move gave you a hurting shoulder. I sure do understand that. I’m always holding my breath that the little I do does not aggravate my body. But better to move than not move, right? Hope it goes away quickly. 💕

Hope everyone is making good choices toward your goals.

    Friday Weigh In
    PW: 252.9
    CW: 251.8

So relieved to have 2 losses in a row, although I can't say I know for sure how I did it. There has been a near constant trail of chocolate wrappers in my wake for 2 weeks.

I'm Kay, 30, living in Boston and working in finance downtown. Been with this group a few years now and I want to commit to being more active each month than I have been. The check-ins are so key!

Caught up on posts. @MaddawgMadsen I hear you on illness! I got to my mom's place on Dec 19 and on Dec 21 woke up with a scratchy throat.... I've been blowing my nose nonstop since. I think my sister brought something with her when she traveled. Such a bummer to spend the holidays sick. I am finally starting to clear up, thankfully. Please feel better!!

@ashleycarole86 100 days! Love the idea, sounds not easy but doable.

Seeing a bunch of losses in the last few posts, woo! Go team.

I had a bit of a rocky start to the year... I planned to leave my mom's place on Jan 1 to finally go back to Boston. 30 min into my trip on the New England Thruway in the Bronx, an absolutely insane driver cut across 3 lanes of traffic directly into me, and fled! I was not injured at all, no air bags, which is amazing. But my poor 2012 Corolla that I have had for 7 years is totaled. :'( Lucky that I was still close to Long Island, my dad was able to come pick me up and the car was towed away. But even more luck! A witness traveling behind the offending vehicle got pics of their license plate! She pulled over immediately after seeing what happened, flagged me down, yelled her phone number across the highway at me, and texted me the pictures! Turns out the other driver (a woman) has the same insurance company as me, and she is not contradicting my story. So hopefully on Mon/Tues, they can officially declare that she is 100% at fault, and my policy won't have to pay anything out.

So now I have to buy a new car. Big ugh because man, they are not cheap, even used, these days. But I was thinking about a new car this time last year and didn't pull the trigger. Fate intervened in a lot of ways already in 2025 lol.

I lost track of the new years resolution question exactly, I don't really do resolutions but I do like to have goals for the year. My main two are quite simple for 2025: get stronger, and save money. The car situation is already straining the "save money" goal LOL. But I think I should do some kind of strength assessment when I get home - how many pushups can I do? What's the most reps I can do of shoulder presses with 10 lb weights before failure? Etc. If anyone knows of a basic online template for such a thing, sing out!

@Kali225 I'm glad you didn't get injured in the car accident! That is a crazy area to drive through.

@ashleycarole86 I love the 100 day challenge for the peleton. Even doing something small every day is better than nothing!

@micki48 great job getting on the mat today 😊

@Gidgitgoescrzy I hope you didn't hurt your shoulder. Ice it up!

I had another good day today. Hoping to walk around the house to get the rest of my steps in. It's supposed to get cold, so I want to get back into just dance to help move about some 😊

Oh our dinner out tonight was so good. The place was beautiful too. It’s in a greenhouse. I got a Harvest bowl with chicken. It was amazing. We also had a cheese board to share. dn5kj2lp94pt.jpeg
