Hey everybody! It's cold and snowy where I am in Alabama today and the weather has me sleepy and wanting to bury myself under the covers. I finished 1 week of Whole30-ish as of yesterday and feeling pretty good. It's not been as bad as I thought it would be and I don't miss certain foods as much as I thought I would.

Does the weather make anyone else want to go into hibernation?

We're (finally) having a normal Pennsylvania winter of well below freezing and we're expecting snow again tomorrow. Not really a big deal, but I'm exercising indoors exclusively (barring shoveling)! I had a relapse and was too sick to eat a normal amount of calories, though I had enough to be safe. I was also too sick to really move around a lot, so no yoga.

I'm back on it today! I seem to have dropped 3 lb. this week, which was unexpected. I hope it stays off for my weigh-in day!

ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: It's a 2-parter. 1) What Healthy New Habit have you struggled most to establish? 2) Which of your Old Habits has been the hardest to break?
    1. Slow Down when I'm eating
    2. Diet Coke

    1) What Healthy New Habit have you struggled most to establish? 2) Which of your Old Habits has been the hardest to break?
    1. logging food, if that is considered a healthy habit.
    2. always being hungry

@vegan4lyfe2012 I stay behind. Now that I deleted the app it will be worse. I tried backtracking to see where the sanitize conversation started and the amino acid conversation started but I could find neither. Not to mention with the topics not being in a singular thread it makes it difficult for me to follow.

@laurelfit57 There's so many great varieties of chili too! I can vouch for skinnytaste's chicken taco chili and her turkey and sweet potato chili (I added black beans and chipotle pepper). Just get back to no sugar today, you got this!

@TeresaW2024 I keep thinking of your dream I had a lot of those type of dreams when I first started dieting and cutting calories real low, I'd dream I'd go to a party and see the off-limits bread and eat the whole loaf at a party which is something I'd never do. When I quit smoking every night for about a year I'd dream I failed and I smoked, I'd wake up upset with myself but I hadn't actually done it. The thing I DO like about amino acid supplements is they aren't something you take for a long time and once your brain balances out you can stop. Joann Ross goes into it more in The Diet Cure as far as explaining aminos but the psychological part of cravings is more in depth in The Craving Cure. Enjoy the snow and keep being awesome with no sugar!

@Cornanda The fires are in southern CA so not near me (I'm in northern CA) but close to @trooworld. They're awful really sad situation. Oh no I hope the heart cath goes well on Tuesday for your Dad, I'm sorry to hear his surgery is postponed.

@trooworld Thanks! Hugs your body's been through a lot hang in there and try not to internalize the increase on the scale, you've been doing great and I definitely don't think it's weight you gained just fluctuations and recovery.

@AprilRaineyBattle Congratulations on one week of Whole30 behind you! Yes I want to hibernate when it's cold both normally and because my pain's a lot worse with cold. Perfect time to stay in bed with tea and a book!

@morenin Congratulations on 3lbs down though being sick isn't a fun way to lose it! I'm glad you're sounding better today.

ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK
    1. Eating on plan is a struggle lately. 2. Wanting to snack at night is a tough one for me.

Hi team! Worked out this morning then went by the farm to drop of yesterday's seeds. I went to get free compost and the two closest places were completely out so I decided to fertlize the yard instead and also went to the community garden. I have some work to get done tonight. I hadn't heard back from the woman I work with so I didn't have to work today, I usually text then wait for hours to find out last-minute I need to be there fast and that dynamic is frustrating. I had no sugar last night I decided to eat some crackers instead just to have an ok snack and have avoided sugar today. Have a great night and happy Saturday!

@micaroo4 Yes! Just don’t buy it!! :D One of the reasons I’m loving having my Walmart groceries delivered is that I don’t have to walk down the aisle being tempted.

@AprilRaineyBattle We had snow yesterday, too, in Georiga. I think staying in and hibernating is a great idea! Good job finishing the first week of your Whole30ish plan. Remember that you deserve a healthy body, and those “certain” foods aren’t your friend. :)

@Katmary71 Dreams are so funny! :) I’m just getting to the part of the book where she discusses the different craving types. Good going on not eating sugar! Maybe add some protein to those crackers. ;)

@trooworld I’m glad your boss told you to stay home if you feel bad. Take advantage of it! Have a great day looking for those wild birds. That sounds amazing! We have vultures that like to hang out on the arms of our cross on the steeple at the church because we have a large piece of property. I find it hilarious when they are up there on a Sunday morning. :D

Good morning! We had our snow day, and it was so pretty! It was great that my 35-year-old niece and her kids could see snow for the first time. They built a snowman and did a little sledding down a small hill. We had to force Maggie to step on the snow to go potty. She wouldn’t go this morning, so she is in her crate until she decides to be brave. :D The scale has me down 5 lbs since starting my no sugar/no snacking challenge six days ago! It would be so awesome if I could keep this mentality, and the weight would melt off. I know it won’t be that easy, but a girl could wish! :)

ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: It's a 2-parter. 1) What Healthy New Habit have you struggled most to establish? 2) Which of your Old Habits has been the hardest to break?
    1. Getting in more movement throughout the day. I do well with my morning workout but then I tend to sit the rest of the day.
    2. Snacking! Once I start it’s so hard to stop, which is why I’m striving to have a no snacking rule for myself

Thank you for your kind words about my Dad. I'm not freaking out. I am concerned about this being a start to Dad's health declining too. He was adamant that I should not come up for the cath. He may stay one night if they do a stent. My sister will handle this one. Navigating his pride is challenging, but I respect that. Last night he emailed and said what if he needs open heart surgery...... he is worrying a lot and he already has too much to deal with because of Mom. He's facing his own mortality and Mom is not able to support him anymore. It has to feel mighty uncomfortable.

@trooworld Have a wonderful time with your friend on the wildlife watch, that sounds amazing! Busy day have fun at the comedy show too! Your boss sounds great, I'm glad you have the group to know what you're experiencing is normal. You've never missed work over little stuff try not to feel bad if you need a little more time at home.

@TeresaW2024 I'm curious to hear what you think of the descriptions and if you think it explains you well. Weird that something so small can have such an influence on us, I had severe fight-or-flight when I first joined here and lost a lot of weight and the cravings were awful. Since taking GABA I don't have cravings were I want to stuff my face anymore thank goodness. Congratulations on being 5lbs down that's amazing! How fun to get to experience your niece and kids seeing the snow for the first time that must've been a lot of fun.

@Cornanda I'm so sorry your Dad is struggling right now, it's hard not to worry with something so serious coming up. I'm glad he's able to talk to you about it and not bottle it up, you're a great daughter.

@Digger61 You must be back home now right? How are you doing? Also you're currently on the support do you want to go back to weekly weigh-ins now or wait a bit?

Hi team! Did a light workout this morning then went to the farmer's market to talk to the mushroom grower, three of us from the farm are being sent to class next week to learn about growing mushrooms for the farm. My Lion's Mane mushroom started at home too! I took the cats in for nail trims, Asher's been yowling since we got home. I had my neighbor to dinner which went well, she loves the skinnytaste Giant Parmesan Turkey Meatball and I made that, potatoes, and broccoli which was real good. Have 8% of my book left so headed to bed, have a great night and Sunday!

@Cornanda Watching the ones we love to face their mortality is super hard. It brings out so many emotions in them and us. Hang in there my friend! <3

@Katmary71 Do you grow your Lion’s Mane to turn into a supplement or do you cook with it? I’ve heard good stuff about taking it and other mushroom supplements. I have a Lion’s Mane supplement that I give us, but I wonder if we should take one with different mushrooms. Give me your thoughts!! :)

Good morning! It’s not yet 8 am, and I’m not sure if we will go to church. It’s so cold, and yesterday Joe wasn’t feeling well. I will see what he wants to do when he wakes up, but I would be thrilled to sit on my couch and watch it on YouTube. :) Other than that, I have no plans for today other than finishing up my latest puzzle and do some reading in the Craving Cure book. Have a great day! :)

I gained 3 lb. back overnight, probably because I was starving yesterday and gorged myself on cake. Have to do better.

I'm really, really depressed about my weight gain. All week, I've been eating far below my supposed calorie amount. One day of extra cake, and despite the calories not adding up, I'm up 3 lb. The calories aren't adding up! I'm so tired of being hungry all the time. I don't see the point of tracking, when my body doesn't seem to conform to the laws of science!

@micaroo4 It's a strange relationship depending on trackers, isn't it? I think if I wasn't constantly trying to beat my step goal I wouldn't have come out of remission with my pain condition.

@txcritter69 Oh no having stuff like that around is hard, I polished off the chocolate chips I've been trying to avoid at night. At least now they aren't tempting me! Sometimes I can handle moderating but in general I try not to have stuff like that in my house.

@morenin Hugs did you have that cake the day before your weigh-in (just saw you did)? If so it's likely the carbs and salt is what that gain is, hang in there and weigh in a day or two and you should be back on track. And drink lots of water!

Go Mission Slimpossibles in 3rd place by percentage and 2nd place by lbs! @AprilRaineyBattle @lisalisa123 @bethanie0825 awesome job team winners!

@TeresaW2024 I got the Lion's Mane kit as a gift from my brother and SIL, she chose it because it's shown evidence for helping nerve conditions and the brain-spine. It helps memory too I think it's the perfect one for you and Joe to take. Once I learn more I'd be happy to give you more thoughts! I bought a bag of dried turkey tail mushroom for boosting the immune system, I was told to add one to tea each day to keep from getting sick. I'll report back as I learn more, the farm's going to send me for the medicinal mushroom class too which I'm personally more interested in as if I can get my brain to “reboot” it's possible to get my CRPS back into remission. The woman I buy my marijuana from micro doses for that reason and for bipolar disorder and it's helped her. I hope Joe is feeling better today and you get some rest and reading in too.

@trooworld I saved you for last to get another good look at those amazing photos! Such magical creatures very cool! I'm glad the comedy club was fun, I haven't gone to a comedy show in ages.

Hi team! Asher yowled all night I'm so tired! I had a good time with my neighbor but the lack of sleep has me feeling like I'm coming down with something. I got caught up on work and have been cleaning. @TeresaW2024 I have my new scrub brush for the bathroom charging, I can't wait to try it out! I have to get the cans out then I'm going to help my SIL get her tulip bulbs in. Have a great night and awesome Monday! I ate the rest of the chocolate chips last night, silver lining is they won't be calling my name anymore since they're now living on my hips right? I'm going to bribe myself with an award if I stay on track until weigh-in day this week.

    Happy Sunday!

Its been a super busy day today. I did a 2-hour workout at home because I was practicing some advanced step aerobics moves with my husband and then did the 21 Day Fix upper body workout. Forgetting that I was meeting the kids to go to an interactive game room with lots of jumping, running and moving. I ended up with over 220 active minutes today. The youngest goes back to the dorm tomorrow so we had to finish up last minute shopping and then I came home to meal prep. Yellow split peas cooking as I type.

Hope everyone had a great Sunday.

ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: It's a 2-parter. 1) What Healthy New Habit have you struggled most to establish? 2) Which of your Old Habits has been the hardest to break?

    1. Spending more time on flexibility and stretching workouts. I always feel like if I am not jumping/bouncing/moving hard and fast, then I am not doing enough. I focus too much on calorie burns when I know I need active recovery days and longer periods of stretching but I get so bored with it.
    2. Not eating nut butter before bed. Before Whole30 I did it with peanut butter and now I find myself reaching for the almond butter since I am supposed to be avoiding peanuts for a bit. I think I need to just stay away from nut butters for a while. I have limited control with them.

@trooworld OMGee. I love birds – they are my favorite animals. Thanks for sharing the pics, sounds like a great time.

@TeresaW2024 Are you doing no sugar including naturally sweet foods/fruit? Or just added sugars? You may have said somewhere and I missed it. It has been the toughest not to add any kind of sweetener to my coffee on Whole30.

$morenin Don’t let it get you down – you’ve got this! I am the same way. Additional sugar and carbs and my weight on the scale shoots up. Even though I know its impossible with my intake to gain 3lbs overnight and it’s probably me retaining fluid, it’s still irritating!

@micaroo4 – I hate when that happens! Or I forget to charge my tracker and it goes dead before or during a workout. It really is almost like what you did without it doesn’t count or it didn’t happen.

@ txcritter69 I couldn’t have chex mix in the house. I can barely have bare apple chips in the house. Snack foods are my nemesis.

@Katmary71 I sincerely doubt I will see numbers like this again but I hope to continue on until I reach my goal. I have increased weights a little with strength training and I fear a stall or slight increase is on the horizon as my body adjusts (thats been the experience in the past) though I do seem to have dropped a few inches.

    Hi 👋

Not much really happening today, I did some cooking to put in the freezer and watched the playoffs. I moved around all day the last 3 days and my watch only reflects between 4, 500-6,500 steps.

Lol, I crocheted a groove into my tension finger so, I can't crochet for a couple of days 😩
Lol... I haven't heard of anyone doing that before.
