@TeresaW2024 Hi! I'm the stressed craver followed by comfort and fatigued. Yvonne was saying I may be feeling so exhausted because I stopped taking GABA too early but at least with fight or flight I got stuff done! Are you going to try gaba?1
-
@TeresaW2024 Yes, I am very lucky they will let me, if I am able to physically. Those fires are terrible, the worst in the city of LA ever. One of the rescue groups I follow (The Pug Queen Foundation) is very close to the fire and I'm very worried about it and the pugs. Hopefully they can get a hold of that fire soon. That's great you had a great night's sleep the other night. You are doing great, keep it up!!!
@Lislisa123 Go, Lisa!!! WOO HOO!!!
@DrewsAnna Way to go! I hope you enjoyed your day to yourself.
@laurelfit57 LOL! Yeah I would never have thought of that about my house either. Of course, MY house isn't sanitary, it's got dog hair all over the place lol. I hope it does pay off. I feel like crap! LOL Sounds like you did great at the dinner theatre. Oh gosh, I really want to put the decorations away but I have no energy! Have a great day.
@Katmary71 Thank you. Unfortunately, I think I am going to have to go out of work again, we'll see what the surgeon says. I'm trying to be my own advocate! Good job with the workout! And good job with the one margarita! Have a great day.
HI all. I called the surgery center and talked to a medical assistant. She was surprised I went back to work already. She was going to send a message to the surgeon and get back to me (although I have yet to hear back from her). I stopped working yesterday at 10:30 am, I just couldn't do it. I felt awful the rest of the day. Hopefully I hear back from her today. I might call her if I haven't heard from her by noon.

@DrewsAnna I will post a pic of the book below.
@laurelfit57 I think after the holidays we all need a break from the sugar. Just make sure you eat enough protein to balance the sugar withdrawals.
@Katmary71 I’m looking forward to seeing what Aminos she recommends for me to use. Will she give me brands, or do you have some that you would recommend? I looked up Amino Acids on Amazon, and there are a lot of choices. I want stuff that will do the job. My stress will only increase as Joe progresses, so I must be ready to deal with whatever happens. Reading the book so far is just a refresher course on how horrible our food industry is and how very addicting! Time to be set free!!
@trooworld I am sorry that you aren’t feeling well. I hope the surgery center can help with what you should and shouldn’t do. You probably just need to be really gentle on yourself after undergoing something so jarring to your entire body.
Good morning! I dreamed I was eating a big plate of cookies my niece made and then woke up mad because I had failed the challenge. THEN I realized it was a dream and I was happy again! My sugar withdrawals have been really mild, but I think that is because I already sorta fast 14 to 16 hours and eat a lot of protein. The no snacking is harder because when I work my puzzle in the afternoon, I really just want to munch but I’m drinking coffee or tea and powering through. Today should be easier. All I keep envisioning is walking into my closet and not hoping something fits but choosing what I like because everything fits!
Here is the book that Katmary and I are talking about. If you never really understood just how horrible the food industry is and why it's so hard for someone with food issues to lose weight, this book might be for you.

Just a quick check in. It’s been a busy week. Kids are still on school break. So I spent time going out with my youngest. Glad the scale moved in the right direction. I had some craziness at Harry Potter. Butter beer, thankfully had a few sips and done. I can say I tried it.

@trooworld The fires are scary I'm so sorry. I hope the pug foundation remains safe. It sounds to me like you went back to work a little early especially with the medical assistant being surprised.
@TeresaW2024 There's two main people whose books I've read (plus Yvonne telling me about it), the other one is Shelley Jo and she has hypno aminos, she started researching them to treat her daughter who was addicted to street drugs. All of hers I've tried are great. When Yvonne teaches the amino acid class and you try them you take a low dose then wait 30 minutes and if no change take another. Like with the stress craver where you take GABA you find out your dose when you feel the opposite of how you're trying to feel (for stress cravers you feel anxious if you take too much so you go just under that dose every 4 hours, for me it was one 1.5 pills). Where I struggle there is each bottle is about $35 and you're taking it 3xs a day (not before bed) so I've been trying different Amazon brands I can take a higher, less often dose with for the day if that makes sense. I agree your life is likely to get more stressful, I'm sorry. Yes I'm reading a Dave Asprey book right now and he's talking about lighting in grocery stores and how it exhausts our nervous system where we want to grab everything. Here's Shelley Jo's site: https://hypnoaminos.com/ With the test on her site it will give you recommendations on what to take. On Amazon I've had good luck with NOW, Futurebiotics, and Horbaach. Because I'm poor I've bought ones and cut them into smaller pieces to save money to find the dose. Now when you are at the right dose and you take it regularly when you suddenly start feeling nervous is when you start decreasing and go off it as your brain will have enough. I'll find the form Yvonne gives clients to take home it makes it easier to understand. Yikes on the nightmare!
@AmbersWay Great to see you! Did you like the butter beer? Curious what it tastes like! Have fun with the kids.
Hi team! I have a late ultrasound today so I'm making a batch of chili now to freeze for when I get home later. Started artichokes, arugula, and lettuce at the greenhouse and did an herb inventory. Not much else going on I'm reading a Susan Mallery book and planning to take it easy today. I DID get into chocolate chips last night so gotta do better! Have a great Thursday night and Friday.1 -

@trooworld luckily I only have one dog that sheds, and if I brush her regularly it's not too bad. But my house is far from sanitary🤣. That fire sounds very scary! Are you guys feeling any of the effects from it? Is it smoky? I hope that the medical staff get back to you quickly.
@TeresaW2024 thanks for the tip on the protein, I would not have known that. Your dream is funny lol! Fingers crossed you won't be thinking and dreaming of sweets too much longer. I like your goal of fitting into everything in your closet. I bought that book before Christmas and still haven't read it, hopefully next week.
@Katmary71 I need to make up a batch of chilli to freeze as well, that is one of my favourite frozen meals! I still can't believe that you are gardening🤣
I had an absolutely lovely day today. One class with Ty, but the rest of the time I puttered around my house. My main floor is almost fully "sanitized" I just have to wash the kitchen and bathroom floors. They will be already for Paisley tomorrow lol. I got to go watch Paisley's synchro practice, I love seeing the kids progress. Also got to catch up with my daughter, which is always nice with no kids around.
I was doing really well on my no sugar intake until about 4 o'clock. I lost track of time and needed to grab a really quick snack before heading over to Paisley's practice, it is at a weird time from 5:30 to 6:30 and I don't get home until after seven, so I'm starving. I didn't have anything cut up in the fridge, so I thought I would grab a quick bowl of cereal. I grabbed honeynut Cheerios ate it quickly and ran out the door. Then I realized that I ate cereal with sugar on it🤣. Tomorrow is a new day!
Hope everybody had a great day, can't believe it's Friday tomorrow!3 -

@laurelfit57 - Glad your house is becoming more sanitary! Lol- that's too funny.
@TeresaW2024 - you are right that there are likely stressful times ahead so keep working on your new habits. You can do this girl!
@katmary71 @trooworld - I think the fires might be nearish to Troo, but not to Kat? Been thinking of both of you.
@trooworld- glad you called, that doesn't sound good and you need answers.
I was supposed to be in WI right now taking care of my parents. My Dad needs a hernia repair. However, he flunked his cardiac clearance and therefore the surgery was cancelled. He's having a heart cath on Tuesday. And maybe a stent. He doesn't have any heart symptoms. He's 82 and very lively. Sometimes medical procedures just mess everything up- and now we have two instead of just one. The hernia is large and has been causing problems, so that definitely needs attention- will probably be rescheduled in March.
Thanks for "listening" to my worry.
Lisa

@TeresaW2024 Thank you. True! Oh gosh, I hate those kinds of dreams and waking up from them! I'm glad your withdrawals have been mild. Good visualization. That book sounds interesting. Thanks for posting it.
@AmbersWay Congrats on the loss. Butter beer! Interesting.
@Katmary71 Me too. I hope so, too. I think you are right: I hope they let me stay home and work from home for a couple more weeks. I love chili! I can't have it (yet) but look forward to when I can. I hope you took it easy.
@morenin Oh scary. Thanks for posting.
@laurelfit57 That's good. Daisy has a double coat and sheds SO BAD! We aren't feeling the effects down here, it's a good 2-3 hours away, but one could always sprout up down here, too. We get wildfires a lot. No smoke either. I have family from my husband in LA and they are all safe, too. Thank you, so far, no response. I'm glad you had a good day in your sanitized house lol. Synchro, as in synchronized swimming??? Today is a new day. Prep more food!
@Cornanda Congrats on the loss and de-Christmassing! Yeah I wish I could get my answers. Bummer about your dad's surgery. How are you feeling about it all?
Hi all. I called the surgeon's office when they first opened and they said they would send him another message. I guess that's all I can do. I am feeling better since working from home. I wish I could ask to work from home another two weeks but I can only drop hints. I don't have the guts to ask for it directly. I worked all day yesterday. I gained two pounds this week. This is not my fault: I am eating an average of 600-700 calories a day, so it's not what I am eating. I think it's just the ebb and flow of weight loss at this point. It plays with my head. I have to be careful about that.

@Katmary71 thanks for giving me so much information and the link. I did some Googling on side effects and didnt’ realize how you really can’t go taking these aminos without understanding what they do. I will continue with the book. I do prefer to get my aminos from food and not spend a ton on supplements. Interesting about grocery store lighting and another good reason to have them delivered! Now go and hide those chocolate chips!
@laurelfit57 I can’t wait to hear if your house passes Paisley’s inspection. I hope you get a chance to read the book. The first part is really educational about our food and how the obesity rate skyrocketed after 1970. It might even make you give up all cereal.
@Cornanda, I am sorry about your dad! Will you be flying up there for his procedure? Our aging loved ones are definitely a cause of ongoing stress. Please let us hear your worries anytime. Lord knows I force y’all to listen to mine!
@trooworld I am sorry you had the gain this week. You might be retaining water. Those losses will come as your body adjusts to your new life, so be ready for them! I wish you could go ask your boss to let you work from home. Make those hints bigger, girl!
Good morning! I’m sitting here waiting to see some snow!! We are supposed to get snow and freezing rain most of the day and tomorrow morning. None of us have to leave, so we hope the snow sticks a little and gives us a pretty view. Today is day 5 of the no-sugar challenge, and I’m feeling so good. Yesterday, I had no cravings, and the scale was down again this morning. I am really working on the big picture. I have 75+ lbs to lose, and it will take time. The only way to get it done is to focus on it one day at a time. So today, I eat no sugar, have no snacks, keep my portion sizes normal, and move my body as much as possible. There are two phrases I am currently fixated on:
Stand Firm: This is from a Bible verse where God says to stand firm and He will help you. I just love the visual this gives me!
Don’t pick it up: This is something I heard from a recovering drug addict. Don’t pick it up, and you can’t use it. It works for sugar, too!

@Cornanda - 🙏Prayers for your dad (and for you). Are you freaking out over it?
@TeresaW2024 - About 20 years ago, I read "Overeating begins with the purchase." Kind of like your phrase Don't pick it up. It really resonates with me and it's been the internal Caution sign in my brain when I'm grocery shopping, dining out, or thinking of stopping for drive-thru.

Hey everybody! It's cold and snowy where I am in Alabama today and the weather has me sleepy and wanting to bury myself under the covers. I finished 1 week of Whole30-ish as of yesterday and feeling pretty good. It's not been as bad as I thought it would be and I don't miss certain foods as much as I thought I would.
Does the weather make anyone else want to go into hibernation?2 -
We're (finally) having a normal Pennsylvania winter of well below freezing and we're expecting snow again tomorrow. Not really a big deal, but I'm exercising indoors exclusively (barring shoveling)! I had a relapse and was too sick to eat a normal amount of calories, though I had enough to be safe. I was also too sick to really move around a lot, so no yoga.
I'm back on it today! I seem to have dropped 3 lb. this week, which was unexpected. I hope it stays off for my weigh-in day!1 -
ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: It's a 2-parter. 1) What Healthy New Habit have you struggled most to establish? 2) Which of your Old Habits has been the hardest to break?

1) What Healthy New Habit have you struggled most to establish? 2) Which of your Old Habits has been the hardest to break?
1. logging food, if that is considered a healthy habit.
2. always being hungry
@vegan4lyfe2012 I stay behind. Now that I deleted the app it will be worse. I tried backtracking to see where the sanitize conversation started and the amino acid conversation started but I could find neither. Not to mention with the topics not being in a singular thread it makes it difficult for me to follow.3 -

@laurelfit57 There's so many great varieties of chili too! I can vouch for skinnytaste's chicken taco chili and her turkey and sweet potato chili (I added black beans and chipotle pepper). Just get back to no sugar today, you got this!
@TeresaW2024 I keep thinking of your dream I had a lot of those type of dreams when I first started dieting and cutting calories real low, I'd dream I'd go to a party and see the off-limits bread and eat the whole loaf at a party which is something I'd never do. When I quit smoking every night for about a year I'd dream I failed and I smoked, I'd wake up upset with myself but I hadn't actually done it. The thing I DO like about amino acid supplements is they aren't something you take for a long time and once your brain balances out you can stop. Joann Ross goes into it more in The Diet Cure as far as explaining aminos but the psychological part of cravings is more in depth in The Craving Cure. Enjoy the snow and keep being awesome with no sugar!
@Cornanda The fires are in southern CA so not near me (I'm in northern CA) but close to @trooworld. They're awful really sad situation. Oh no I hope the heart cath goes well on Tuesday for your Dad, I'm sorry to hear his surgery is postponed.
@trooworld Thanks! Hugs your body's been through a lot hang in there and try not to internalize the increase on the scale, you've been doing great and I definitely don't think it's weight you gained just fluctuations and recovery.
@AprilRaineyBattle Congratulations on one week of Whole30 behind you! Yes I want to hibernate when it's cold both normally and because my pain's a lot worse with cold. Perfect time to stay in bed with tea and a book!
@morenin Congratulations on 3lbs down though being sick isn't a fun way to lose it! I'm glad you're sounding better today.
ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK
1. Eating on plan is a struggle lately. 2. Wanting to snack at night is a tough one for me.
Hi team! Worked out this morning then went by the farm to drop of yesterday's seeds. I went to get free compost and the two closest places were completely out so I decided to fertlize the yard instead and also went to the community garden. I have some work to get done tonight. I hadn't heard back from the woman I work with so I didn't have to work today, I usually text then wait for hours to find out last-minute I need to be there fast and that dynamic is frustrating. I had no sugar last night I decided to eat some crackers instead just to have an ok snack and have avoided sugar today. Have a great night and happy Saturday!2 -

@bethanie0825 Congrats on the loss!
@TeresaW2024 Thank you. Yes, it may be water...I just switched from an all-liquid diet to some forms of food, so it was a shock to my body! Girl, I am ready for those losses, bring 'em on! LOL I am a wimp when it comes to asking my boss for things. But she said I could work from home if I still feel bad, so that's good. I hope the snow came and stuck. It's so pretty but I definitely don't like to be out in it. I'm glad you are doing so well with the no-sugar challenge. Love the phrases!
@AprilRaineyBattle Bad weather makes me want to stay home and read or nap for sure! It only rains here in southern California but that's enough for me lol.
@morenin Sorry about the relapse. Fingers crossed the loss sticks for weigh-in!
@Katmary71 Thank you! I would hate having to find out last-minute if I work. Good job avoiding sugar!
ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: It's a 2-parter. 1) What Healthy New Habit have you struggled most to establish? 2) Which of your Old Habits has been the hardest to break?
I'm going to have to copy part of Mica's answer here. I need to SLOW DOWN WHEN I AM EATING (I am yelling this at myself right now lol). Hardest habit to break (at least temporarily) is drinking caffeinated coffee.
Hi all. My boss said if I'm still feeling bad, I can work from home next week so I will probably do that. I'm part of a bariatric community online and they said that stalls or even a gain or two are normal at the 2-3 weeks out stage. So, I won't worry about it. I know it's nothing I've done. This morning, I am going to the country part of the county to go to a "hawk watch" where I might see hawks, wild raptors, bald eagles, and more. It's led by a wildlife center. I'm really looking forward to it and seeing my friend who I haven't seen in a long time. Tonight, my husband and I are going to a comedy show at the coffee shop we regularly go to.

@micaroo4 Yes! Just don’t buy it!! One of the reasons I’m loving having my Walmart groceries delivered is that I don’t have to walk down the aisle being tempted.
@AprilRaineyBattle We had snow yesterday, too, in Georiga. I think staying in and hibernating is a great idea! Good job finishing the first week of your Whole30ish plan. Remember that you deserve a healthy body, and those “certain” foods aren’t your friend.
@Katmary71 Dreams are so funny! I’m just getting to the part of the book where she discusses the different craving types. Good going on not eating sugar! Maybe add some protein to those crackers.
@trooworld I’m glad your boss told you to stay home if you feel bad. Take advantage of it! Have a great day looking for those wild birds. That sounds amazing! We have vultures that like to hang out on the arms of our cross on the steeple at the church because we have a large piece of property. I find it hilarious when they are up there on a Sunday morning.
Good morning! We had our snow day, and it was so pretty! It was great that my 35-year-old niece and her kids could see snow for the first time. They built a snowman and did a little sledding down a small hill. We had to force Maggie to step on the snow to go potty. She wouldn’t go this morning, so she is in her crate until she decides to be brave. The scale has me down 5 lbs since starting my no sugar/no snacking challenge six days ago! It would be so awesome if I could keep this mentality, and the weight would melt off. I know it won’t be that easy, but a girl could wish!
ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: It's a 2-parter. 1) What Healthy New Habit have you struggled most to establish? 2) Which of your Old Habits has been the hardest to break?- Getting in more movement throughout the day. I do well with my morning workout but then I tend to sit the rest of the day.
- Snacking! Once I start it’s so hard to stop, which is why I’m striving to have a no snacking rule for myself

Thank you for your kind words about my Dad. I'm not freaking out. I am concerned about this being a start to Dad's health declining too. He was adamant that I should not come up for the cath. He may stay one night if they do a stent. My sister will handle this one. Navigating his pride is challenging, but I respect that. Last night he emailed and said what if he needs open heart surgery...... he is worrying a lot and he already has too much to deal with because of Mom. He's facing his own mortality and Mom is not able to support him anymore. It has to feel mighty uncomfortable.
