@trooworld Have a wonderful time with your friend on the wildlife watch, that sounds amazing! Busy day have fun at the comedy show too! Your boss sounds great, I'm glad you have the group to know what you're experiencing is normal. You've never missed work over little stuff try not to feel bad if you need a little more time at home.
@TeresaW2024 I'm curious to hear what you think of the descriptions and if you think it explains you well. Weird that something so small can have such an influence on us, I had severe fight-or-flight when I first joined here and lost a lot of weight and the cravings were awful. Since taking GABA I don't have cravings were I want to stuff my face anymore thank goodness. Congratulations on being 5lbs down that's amazing! How fun to get to experience your niece and kids seeing the snow for the first time that must've been a lot of fun.
@Cornanda I'm so sorry your Dad is struggling right now, it's hard not to worry with something so serious coming up. I'm glad he's able to talk to you about it and not bottle it up, you're a great daughter.
@Digger61 You must be back home now right? How are you doing? Also you're currently on the support do you want to go back to weekly weigh-ins now or wait a bit?
Hi team! Did a light workout this morning then went to the farmer's market to talk to the mushroom grower, three of us from the farm are being sent to class next week to learn about growing mushrooms for the farm. My Lion's Mane mushroom started at home too! I took the cats in for nail trims, Asher's been yowling since we got home. I had my neighbor to dinner which went well, she loves the skinnytaste Giant Parmesan Turkey Meatball and I made that, potatoes, and broccoli which was real good. Have 8% of my book left so headed to bed, have a great night and Sunday!1 -

@Katmary71 Do you grow your Lion’s Mane to turn into a supplement or do you cook with it? I’ve heard good stuff about taking it and other mushroom supplements. I have a Lion’s Mane supplement that I give us, but I wonder if we should take one with different mushrooms. Give me your thoughts!!
Good morning! It’s not yet 8 am, and I’m not sure if we will go to church. It’s so cold, and yesterday Joe wasn’t feeling well. I will see what he wants to do when he wakes up, but I would be thrilled to sit on my couch and watch it on YouTube. Other than that, I have no plans for today other than finishing up my latest puzzle and do some reading in the Craving Cure book. Have a great day!

@TeresaW2024 I'm definitely going to! The hawk program was amazing. HAHAHA that's funny about the vultures. That must be funny to see. I'm glad you got your snow. I don't blame little Maggie for not wanting to go in the snow lol, I hope she decided to go. Wow, awesome, congrats! I hope you get to stay home and relax.

@Katmary71 Thank you, it was! My boss is great, she's very supportive. Thank you! That mushroom growing class will be fun and interesting I bet. Poor kitties. But they needed to go...if only they knew that! Yummy dinner.

The Hawk Watch program was so cool! We saw turkey vultures, hawks, a young bald eagle, all flying above us in the grasslands. They also had several types of owls and hawks as animal ambassadors that they walked around and talked about. It was incredible! Here are some pics from it. I was really tired after the hawk watch so I came home and took a 1 1/2 hour nap. We went to the comedy show, it was more expensive than we thought but we still went and had a good time. Most of the comedians were funny.

I gained 3 lb. back overnight, probably because I was starving yesterday and gorged myself on cake. Have to do better.1 -
I'm really, really depressed about my weight gain. All week, I've been eating far below my supposed calorie amount. One day of extra cake, and despite the calories not adding up, I'm up 3 lb. The calories aren't adding up! I'm so tired of being hungry all the time. I don't see the point of tracking, when my body doesn't seem to conform to the laws of science!3

@micaroo4 It's a strange relationship depending on trackers, isn't it? I think if I wasn't constantly trying to beat my step goal I wouldn't have come out of remission with my pain condition.
@txcritter69 Oh no having stuff like that around is hard, I polished off the chocolate chips I've been trying to avoid at night. At least now they aren't tempting me! Sometimes I can handle moderating but in general I try not to have stuff like that in my house.
@morenin Hugs did you have that cake the day before your weigh-in (just saw you did)? If so it's likely the carbs and salt is what that gain is, hang in there and weigh in a day or two and you should be back on track. And drink lots of water!

@TeresaW2024 I got the Lion's Mane kit as a gift from my brother and SIL, she chose it because it's shown evidence for helping nerve conditions and the brain-spine. It helps memory too I think it's the perfect one for you and Joe to take. Once I learn more I'd be happy to give you more thoughts! I bought a bag of dried turkey tail mushroom for boosting the immune system, I was told to add one to tea each day to keep from getting sick. I'll report back as I learn more, the farm's going to send me for the medicinal mushroom class too which I'm personally more interested in as if I can get my brain to “reboot” it's possible to get my CRPS back into remission. The woman I buy my marijuana from micro doses for that reason and for bipolar disorder and it's helped her. I hope Joe is feeling better today and you get some rest and reading in too.
@trooworld I saved you for last to get another good look at those amazing photos! Such magical creatures very cool! I'm glad the comedy club was fun, I haven't gone to a comedy show in ages.
Hi team! Asher yowled all night I'm so tired! I had a good time with my neighbor but the lack of sleep has me feeling like I'm coming down with something. I got caught up on work and have been cleaning. @TeresaW2024 I have my new scrub brush for the bathroom charging, I can't wait to try it out! I have to get the cans out then I'm going to help my SIL get her tulip bulbs in. Have a great night and awesome Monday! I ate the rest of the chocolate chips last night, silver lining is they won't be calling my name anymore since they're now living on my hips right? I'm going to bribe myself with an award if I stay on track until weigh-in day this week.2 -

Its been a super busy day today. I did a 2-hour workout at home because I was practicing some advanced step aerobics moves with my husband and then did the 21 Day Fix upper body workout. Forgetting that I was meeting the kids to go to an interactive game room with lots of jumping, running and moving. I ended up with over 220 active minutes today. The youngest goes back to the dorm tomorrow so we had to finish up last minute shopping and then I came home to meal prep. Yellow split peas cooking as I type.

ICE BREAKER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: It's a 2-parter. 1) What Healthy New Habit have you struggled most to establish? 2) Which of your Old Habits has been the hardest to break?
1. Spending more time on flexibility and stretching workouts. I always feel like if I am not jumping/bouncing/moving hard and fast, then I am not doing enough. I focus too much on calorie burns when I know I need active recovery days and longer periods of stretching but I get so bored with it.
2. Not eating nut butter before bed. Before Whole30 I did it with peanut butter and now I find myself reaching for the almond butter since I am supposed to be avoiding peanuts for a bit. I think I need to just stay away from nut butters for a while. I have limited control with them.

@TeresaW2024 Are you doing no sugar including naturally sweet foods/fruit? Or just added sugars? You may have said somewhere and I missed it. It has been the toughest not to add any kind of sweetener to my coffee on Whole30.
$morenin Don’t let it get you down – you’ve got this! I am the same way. Additional sugar and carbs and my weight on the scale shoots up. Even though I know its impossible with my intake to gain 3lbs overnight and it’s probably me retaining fluid, it’s still irritating!
@micaroo4 – I hate when that happens! Or I forget to charge my tracker and it goes dead before or during a workout. It really is almost like what you did without it doesn’t count or it didn’t happen.
@ txcritter69 I couldn’t have chex mix in the house. I can barely have bare apple chips in the house. Snack foods are my nemesis.
@Katmary71 I sincerely doubt I will see numbers like this again but I hope to continue on until I reach my goal. I have increased weights a little with strength training and I fear a stall or slight increase is on the horizon as my body adjusts (thats been the experience in the past) though I do seem to have dropped a few inches.

Not much really happening today, I did some cooking to put in the freezer and watched the playoffs. I moved around all day the last 3 days and my watch only reflects between 4, 500-6,500 steps.
Lol, I crocheted a groove into my tension finger so, I can't crochet for a couple of days 😩
Lol... I haven't heard of anyone doing that before.

@trooword Those birds are amazing! I went to see a comedian years ago, and we made the mistake of sitting in the front. That guy picked on our table so much. It was funny but also embarrassing.
@morenin I’m sorry that you are so frustrated. Eating too few calories is not a good idea. Your body won’t release weight if it thinks you are starving. I saw this with my mother, who would eat way under her calories, and her weight wouldn’t budge. I looked on Google, and some things that can happen if you eat too few calories are a slower metabolism, increased hunger, slower digestion, and decreased satiety. I don’t believe in counting calories for a lot of reasons. Have you considered not counting calories? You know what to eat and what not to eat.

@Katmary71 I look forward to hearing more about what you learned about mushrooms. What was wrong with Asher? I hope you aren’t getting sick! I need to charge my scrub brush and tackle my shower, too. What kind of reward are you going to give yourself? Don’t make it a sugar reward!
@AprilRaineyBattle I put frozen berries in my protein shake, but that is it. I’m working on not eating things that taste sweet, other than my shake, to break the sweet habit. After dinner is the hardest, so I immediately brush my teeth and drink sparkling water, which satisfies me. I gave up sweetener in my coffee years ago, and I know it’s hard, but trust me, once your taste buds get used to bitter taste, you won’t want that sweet coffee anymore.

Good morning! We did end up going to church yesterday and then to Aldi. Today, I need to do a Walmart order and some church work. The pastor is coming over Wednesday morning to work with me on calendaring the year before we have a leadership meeting. So, today, I will work on anticipating what he might want. Since my weigh-in is tomorrow, I plan to do a workout and watch my food intake. Have a good day!

@morenin I'm sorry about the gain. There are a lot of reasons why you may be seeing a gain. This article has some good explanations (never mind the push of supplements!): https://andersonsnutrition.com/the-nutrition-hub/weight-loss/reasons-you-are-gaining-weight-in-a-calorie-deficit/ Just hang in there and keep eating around your calorie goal.

Hi all. Today, I go to see the surgeon to ask about the 2 more weeks working from home. I'm feeling better but I know if I go back, I will feel bad again. I made two soups yesterday, one was a black bean soup that was super easy and the other was easy too, it was a curried butternut quash/lentil/pear soup. I had the black bean soup for dinner and it was really good. I can't wait to taste the other one as well.

Feels like this year is already going to zoom on by. I was a bit sick this week so didn't check in, and have had done a quick scroll to catch myself up on all the messages.
So far I've been tracking everything but haven't changed my eating habits yet. I've signed up for a meal subscription to remove the temptation of choice which inevitably for me equals junk foods. Hoping to look at setting some calorie limits in place towards the end of Jan.

Oof, getting regular activity is really not happening yet. I'd like to blame being sick, but I know it's not the real reason. It's a terrible rut to get out of so I will keep reminding myself that any time is a win!
2) Which of your Old Habits has been the hardest to break?
Spending too much time scrolling endlessly at night. Truly so addictive - on the plus side, I have been doing some reading so I think this will work out.
@AprilRaineyBattle I totally agree that the forum and it's integration in the app is kinda janky/hard to use. Sounds like a lot of people use their computers over the app for this side of things, and with the mention of user data being breached I gotta say it's pretty frustrating. Also - congrats on the great loss!
@Cornanda Thanks for the book recs 😊 I often see Demon Copperhead recommended around the place, and will look up the others too. Sorry to hear about your dad, it is rough but it sounds like he has a great supportive family.
@trooworld Those hawk photos are so amazing, looks like a fantastic experience! Nice to hear the comedy show was good - it can be so awkward when your sense of humour doesn't line up with the comedian's (happens to me more often then I'd like to admit)
@morenin Hugs on the gain, I find the same thing happens to me when I have particularly carby/sugary food. I put my daily weights into an app (Libra on android) so it calculates a trend weight and the balance is more apparent. Sadly, the same counts for days I magically seem to drop a pound too 😅3 -

Thank you all for the support. I'm getting support from my family also, so I needed to take a day and just step away. Several doctors who think I should lose weight easily said I should count calories. But frankly, it seems to just be making me super upset. I don't eat under 1200 calories, but I seem to be stuck right in the middle, bouncing up and down. I think I will take off from counting calories this week at least.2

@Digger61I say we leave you as support, not because of anything with the team but more so you can be gentle with yourself at a time when your body is going through some serious recovering. If you'd rather weigh in or get to a point where you're stabilizing and would like to weigh in again as part of the team we can switch you back. Meanwhile weigh in and I'll log it but it's not mandatory right now. Does that sound good?
