Monday 3,000 approx as I had to charge my fitbit & forgot to put it back till 13:00 so I've had to guess.
I did do 20 minutes of exercise while I had the chicken in the oven.
For dinner I did have more vegetables.

How are we hitting our goals this week?

I’m going to work on clean eating, non processed, low carb, healthy foods. I’ll continue to eat an apple every day and get my veggies in, especially salads.

    Weigh in day Monday

    PW: 182.5 lbs
    CW: 181.2 lbs

I’m having a really bad day, I know it’s still a loss but I’ve been hitting the gym most days, an hour at a time, lifting heavy weights to build some muscle to increase my metabolism (very out of shape menopausal lump of jelly) and sticking to around 1300-1400 calories, prioritising protein and I just feel like it was soooooo much effort but not much result? I had an in body scan at the gym this morning and I’ve only put on 1lb of muscle in a month. Feeling gutted at how slow this is at my age.

@fknlardarse it IS slow at our age. 1.3 pounds per week is actually a GREAT weight loss. If you do 1 pound a week in 1 year you’ll have lost 52 pounds! All we can do is be happy with the loss and keep at it. If you lose 1.3 pounds again this week you’ll be in the magically wonderful 170s!! That’s awesome! I’d love to get there myself as well. πŸ˜€

Keep at it! You’ve got this!! Cheers!

Let’s just keep eating right, drinking water and hitting the gum.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa, let's take a deep breath here. At your age, eating as few calories as you are, putting on ANY muscle at all is impressive and a sign that you're doing it right. You're losing weight AND adding muscle? That's the dream.

Shifting your mindset to recognize that this still counts as progress is tough (and trust me, I know how it feels - my weight hasn't shifted much in the past year although I've put on 14 pounds of muscle since Christmas 2023 and it's a rough time to recognize how much work I've done). You're doing a great job, keep up the excellent work!

Hope to keep this up! Haven't really been exercising, because I'm still healing from my surgery. Mainly just eating a little less, and also going to my boyfriends every weekend and his apartment is up 3 flights of stairs, lol.

I remember when I used to get at least 10,000 steps per day and now I’m lucky if I get half that. I really have to get back into moving it’s just so hard with my back and leg hurting me. I just have to work through the pain

I’m right there with you @ljdanny, but for me it’s my left ankle/foot. I’ve decided I need to more work on my weight loss and not worry much about my steps. I figure if I get the weight off then my ankle/foot won’t be carrying as much load and will heal more quickly.

Sorry to hear though that your back and leg do hurt. Frustrating I’m sure (in addition to the pain).

I went for a walk today, definitely need to do it more often. The field I walk through has now got two horses in, need to check I can walk there.
Going to the doctor to talk about menopause tomorrow, third time lucky, bloods were normal the last two times but this time I'm going to push for something more than just checking my bloods.

I need some suggestions. I was doing really good with keeping my food under control. Yesterday and today I have snacked on popcorn, gluten free pretzels, nuts, cheese cubes, and some chocolate. What are some suggestions for healthy snacks that I can have at work?

I don't think those are poor choices, assuming portion control and not all of them at once. I like celery and carrots and apple slices. A little peanut or almond butter with the celery or apples gives you protien or hummus with the carrots.

@blessedgrandma5 - Agreed with Melanie that these are not necessarily bad choices as long as you are not bingeing. Popcorn tends to be one of my go-tos, actually. But if you're looking for something more stereotypically "healthy", I like having greek yogurt with a handful of blueberries or some veggies and pita chips with hummus. My big thing is having multiple flavors going on, because that makes me believe I've been eating more than I actually have (i.e., in my brain: more variety = more satiation). Having snacks you need to "work" for can also make a big difference, like having to open pistachios before eating them or shelling sunflower seeds or peeling an orange.

What makes you reach for the snacks you've been having lately? Are you craving salt?

We got lots of snow last Thursday which is unusual for our North Texas region. I really enjoyed watching my kids play in it, but I'm ready for the 50 degree weather to return. We still have snow sitting on our driveway and in shady areas.dn5vba7vyd7q.jpg
