    My weight has been up since travel and slowly coming back down but not quick enough, that's for sure. I'll just keep working at it.

    @Alatariel75 Down Dog is an app I use, it is a subscription, but I only pay 14.99 per year, it includes fully customizable Pilates, Yoga, Barre, Hiit and Meditation Apps. On random months they will do challenges to do a practice everyday. They select a few for prizes if you complete the whole month.

    I mostly do the pilates, and yoga, the hiit is great, but my knee doesn't like it, so I haven't done much with that lately.

    It's small, but it is there. And, it's a little surprising to have a loss with all of the working out I've done this week. Usually when I hit the gym harder, my weight goes up while I'm building back muscle.

    @Alatariel75 - So, I did start the core challenge yesterday. They gave us a calendar with different core workouts for every day. They also gave us a diet portion which is basically just clean eating or Whole30. Another portion of the challenge is they have us sharing our starting point with all of our goals including additional challenges we might be doing (for example, I shared that I want to continue with no alcohol and make spin and pickleball at least once a week). Lastly, they have us teaming up with an accountability partner.

    The exercises for yesterday were: 20 second plank hold, 20 dead bug reaches, and 10 flutter kicks. Today's exercises are: 30 second table plank hold, 30 second side plank each side, and 20 flutter kicks. We can do the routine once, twice, or as many times as we want. We can do the exercises for a set time like 10 minutes, 15 minutes, or whatever works in our schedule. We can modify the movements if we are not in a place where we can do them all. It's really just about challenging ourselves every day.

    @bowens1973 - what a cute doggo! Thanks for sharing the photo of Morgan.

    @micki48 - I understand the being too tired after work to do much. It is great that you expressed this struggle and it sounds like you (all of us really) have been given some great advice in remembering to count NEAT exercise. You're on the go constantly with your job, so you will definitely get exercise and steps; and good job on hitting your step goals! I guess if I were to give any unsolicited advice it would be to work on the little things. Maybe that's choosing a cup of hot tea instead of a soda. Or intentionally blocking out 30 minutes on Sunday to cut up carrots or something similar to have as a healthy snack each day. Or, spending a little extra at the store to have pre-portioned meals or snacks. Any little thing you can think of to make your life easier and healthier is a win.

    @MaddawgMadsen Thanks for your thoughts and advice. I appreciate it. I do try to get aldi salads for lunch so I don’t have to think about making mine. I usually add extra veggies to it and sometime more protein.

    Today we had a breakfast potluck at school. Boy was there a lot of good food. I didn’t try it all but had my share. That may be hindering me. 😉Thankfully we don’t have them often.

    I need to get 400 more steps today to get over 7k. We didn’t get outside with the kiddos today. Too cold. I’ll get up in a minute.

    Need to log the rest of my food.

    @bowens1973 Cute puppy. 🐶

    I have had crazy busy days at work this week too! Lots of meetings on times I should have to myself (lunch, 6pm). Plus the insomnia hit me for a few nights. I don't think I reached my step goal much this week either.

    @bowens1973 Morgan is adorable!

    @MaddawgMadsen great job getting a new high score in bowling!

    @micki48 nice work with getting your steps in! Did you get 400 more steps today?

    Happy Friday! Two days ago, my right knee started feeling weak and had a little bit of pain. Kind of like I had a light strain in it. It felt that way all of yesterday and is starting off the same way today. I decided to skip CrossFit yesterday and will likely do the same today so that it can heal. I'm bummed about it because I was on such a streak with getting my exercise in. I didn't make it to a single spin class, and I missed the last two CrossFit classes. And, I didn't get my steps in yesterday. Not even close. I guess it's one of those situations that's going to teach me patience. Patience is not my strong suit.

    In other news, my sister and I got my mom a meeting with a family lawyer, and that meeting is today. All three of us are going to go together to talk with the lawyer to help my mom set up a will. My brother died a few years ago and didn't have anything in place for that to happen. The aftermath of that was such a headache that we want to make sure the same thing doesn't happen when my mom passes. She will be 80 this year and is not in the best of health, so now is the time. It's just that she is so against this process because she doesn't think it is necessary. I'm sharing all of this to hopefully get some good thoughts, vibes, prayers, etc. sent my way today.

    @MaddawgMadsen take care, knees are SO fickle!! Takin g a break is frustrating, but long term knee pain is grueling.

    Re the will, it's so frustrating when someone "doesn't see the need". Honestly, just gently but firmly insist that you and your siblings are going to be the ones doing the work, and that YOU see the need, so can she please just do it. Making a will can be very confronting and uncomfortable, but the thing that the will-maker needs to keep in mind is that - yeah, for them it's not necessary. It's not going to do a darn thing for them, because it's not meant to. They're doing it for the people who will be left behind. Don't be afraid to gently emphasise to her that you're going to have enough going on with grief and stress and everything, and that anything she can do now, including making a will, will just help you in that time of hurt.
    I've done my fair share of gently but firmly explaining this to elderly people who think they don't have enough to worry about, or that anything they have will just go smoothly to the kids, because even the most straightforward estate is a pain in the butt when there's no will.

    I'm up at 5:30am again, and this time I'm cranky. I don't mean to be, but geez can this little brat please just have a flippin sleep in for once? And he coems out, tears around for 20 minutes then crashes out, but if I take him back to our room (he isn't trusted alone yet), he's awake and full of beans again.

    @MaddawgMadsen take it easy and let your knees recover. You don't want to do too much and then hurt them further.

    Also prayers for a good meeting today! I hope it went well! My parents made their will when my mom got colon cancer (she is over 5 years in remission!). But that was a boost they needed to get it done.

    @ashleycarole86 I completely agree with the TGIF statement! It's been a LONG week.

    @Alatariel75 hopefully you will get to sleep in soon! Do you crate train the pup at all? When we had a puppy, he slept in a crate and if he woke up we took him out to potty and then back in the crate until someone was up for the morning.

    I am going to head to the gym in the morning. I didn't do much exercise besides walking a little this week. Not sure if I hit my steps at all 🙈 Tomorrow is a new day!

    @lauren_989 crate training's not really a thing over here, it's starting to get a bit of a mention, but I'd honestly never heard of it before I visited the US! I think because the most common thing here is large fenced yards, and mild weather even in winter, so doggos don't have to be trained to stay inside for long periods of time. So the pup sleeps in with us, and gets me up every morning like a terror!! It will just be until he can be trusted around the house without supervision, then I'll be able to just let him out when he wakes up

    I will take the slow and steady loss. 😊 My dietician and I met this week and she said I am down about 15 lbs from where I started meeting with her. It was a good reminder of my overall progress, and I’ve been able to fit into clothes that I haven’t comfortably worn since 2021. It felt good to put back on a blouse that I used to wear all the time, but had not in a bit due to the weight gain.

    This week for workouts was not as great; I ended up not doing one on Monday through Wednesday because of work craziness. I told myself on Thursday that I “have” to do a workout because it will make me feel better and reduce my stress, and that little mental kick in the butt was what I needed. I did a glute/leg workout on Thursday, and an arm/back workout on Friday. I also have spin class this morning and yoga tomorrow.

    @MaddawgMadsen - I hope your knee feels better soon! I had a strain in one of my knees a few years back, and it felt like it would come back every so often during spin classes or other workouts. I ended up buying this workout knee “brace” and that essentially acted like a little bit of compression and gave my knee some stability during workouts. I also stopped going into 2nd or 3rd position if the resistance on the bike felt too “light”, and that helped a lot too.

    And good luck with the will conversation! I haven’t had that conversation with my own parents, but what you’ve shared makes me think it may not be a bad idea to start.

    @lauren_989 - I also spent most of the workdays this week in meetings until 6pm! It felt like the holidays and vacation time people took were officially over and everyone was back to work. I attempted to log off yesterday at 4:30 after beginning my day at 8, and someone called my work phone just as I was getting my pup ready for a walk. I hadn’t had a chance to take him on an actual walk all week, so I made sure to wrap that work call quickly!

    @Alatariel75 - I didn’t realize that crate training was something more popular in the U.S.! You learn something new every day. Hopefully he will start to sleep in and calm down soon. Sometimes my pup (almost 9) will still wake up with me and get a little rambunctious at 5/6 am, though it’s not that often, and his rambunctiousness usually ends as soon as he gets his breakfast and belly rubs.

    @MaddawgMadsen It sounds like you and your sister are doing something really thoughtful and important for your mom and your family, even if your mom doesn't see it. It’s never an easy conversation to have. I’m sending lots of good thoughts and positive energy your way today—I hope the meeting goes smoothly and helps ease your concerns.

    I’m so glad it’s finally the weekend! I don’t have much planned, which is perfect because I’m focusing on staying cozy and keeping warm—these January blues are starting to creep in. A little rest and warmth are exactly what I need right now.
