    Hello,
Looking for suggestions: Every time I get invited to a social function it involves FOOD! Progressive dinners, meetings with desserts, birthdays, dinner out, tailgating, ugh. What are some activities you do with your friends that don't involve eating?

I have suggested with my friends(when warmer) that we go for a walk on a trail or bike path nearby or to go in a bike ride. A group of us have taken different classes together. Garden workshops, seed starting,
etc. suggest a museum or simply get together for a game night. If food has to be involved make it a competition or “experiment” with telling them to bring a healthy food item.

    Weigh in day Friday

    Previous weight 180.1 lbs
    Current weight 180.1 lbs

No change but at least it didn't go up. Work has been stressful so I haven't been making good food choices and I was tired so missed some of my planned exercise. This weekend I'll make to most of my time to relax and hopefully have a more balanced week next week

I also need to look for better snack ideas on the go

@Emilienewme - Did your friend try them out before giving them away? Any report on how well they did with the recipes?

Sorry to let the team down this week, I’ve been away and indulging in foods I don’t normally eat, cakes, ice cream and pasta. Crossing my fingers that it’s just water weight and will come off quickly when I get back on track today.

Taking myself out for an hour’s walk while the kids are with their tutor to kick start me. I still think I’m in Xmas holiday mode and need to get back to my old healthy habits, I was doing so well🤞🏻

Way to walk Weight No More!

I don't know jow the weather is where everyone is but I am hoping it has not been as bitterly cold as the US Midwest (as low -10F/-23C). It has had me hunkered down, indoors.

Kudos to top of the leaderboard, @Emilienewme who was Most Consistent and met their step goals and to @purple1butterfly for most steps in one day--almost 20K!

Steps team, we've got one more week in January...we're just over 1 million for the month. Can we make it 1.5?

Sorry this is so late...I've been pretty ill and not competent to do much at all.

If you want to join the step challenge for January:
Just post your steps by the end of Wendnesday after the week ends. I'm flexible and might wait a day or two for you. If we're 'friends', I may drop a personal note to you to check in. If we aren't, and you'd like a personal note, send me (melaniedscott) a friend request.

Part of the challenge or new and want to add or update a goal?
If you want to... be bold (heehee), let us know how many steps you want to hit every day on average and we'll keep track of it for you!

For anyone confused about where we are ...
This is post is for Jan 12-18. For those interested in joining the January step challenge (you can join any time!), the week of January 19 (1/19-1/25) steps should be posted by Wed, January 28th.

    Awesome walking steps team!

Had a very busy week working in a classroom full of 2 year olds and now I have a cold and have been on the couch the last 2 days. You can probably tell I have done nothing yesterday if you look at my steps, it will be the same for today. I did finally manage this afternoon to get my house cleaned because I couldn’t stand looking at it anymore. I am going to be going to bed early so I can hopefully make it through the day tomorrow.

    WEIGH IN DAY MONDAY

    PW: 179.8lbs
    CW: 179.8lbs

Super upset. I log EVERYTHING I eat, I’ve yo-yo’d for years but it means I definitely know how to weigh, measure and log accurately when I’m in the zone and I’m in the ZONE right now. I haven’t cheated once all week. Been to gym twice to lift heavy weights, walked, done a yoga session. Eaten high protein, watched my macros, only complex carbs….. And stayed the same!
I hate being menopausal. Weight loss definitely became harder as I got older but this is ridiculous. I literally feel like I’m running a marathon to keep still.

    End of January Monthly Review
It's the final week of January, so think about the goals you set and how you feel about them now. It's easy to make a list of wishes but how realistic were they?

Did you exercise as much as you intended? If so, what was your driving force? If not, what needs to change next month to hit those goals?

Did you eat more than you wanted to because of the gloomy weather and being stuck indoors? How will you stop reaching for comfort food and choose a healthier activity?

More importantly, what good things happened this month? What did you enjoy, what made you smile, what are you proud of? Remember the good moments as these will help you feel positive going forward.

Take a look at how you did in the first weeks of the year and amend your hopes and wishes as we step into February at the end of this week.

Don't give up, just find a way to keep going and remember the good things along the way.

@fknlardarse - You could be in a state of recomposition! Our bodies hold onto extra water when building muscle or processing nutrients, which makes it look like our weights remain the same when we've actually lost unhealthy fat. Stay consistent, you're killing it!

@minstrelofsarcasm in your experience of being a personal trainer have you found that protein powder tends to slow weight loss in women at all? I’m using a plain one, no sweeteners or flavours, to hit my macros but I’m quite sensitive to refined carbs (they really slow my weight loss down I think due to blood glucose spikes) and I feel like my body might be processing the protein powder in a similar way, definitely feels v different to eating chicken for example.
    I’m lifting heavy 3-4 times a week
