Time for a change

Hi everyone
I’m new here.
Height: 4”11
SW: 309
I’ve been trying to loose weight for years but all I seem to successfully accomplish is pick it up.
This month I had a huge health scare. I got a kidney stone (which I didn’t feel) and only saw a doctor after a week. The blockage caused a kidney infection which resulted in systemic septicemia; that in turn led to me contracting pneumonia as well.
I spent a week in ICU & during surgery my breathing stopped. It took the doctors hours before they could take out the breathing tube as I was unable to breathe on my own.
My blood pressure is all over the place & I am on the verge of developing diabetes.
This has been a wake-up call for me!
I would really appreciate support & hope that the accountability of weekly weigh-in’s will help motivate me & keep me on track.

that is all so scary! I’m glad you made it through and ended up here. I’m also on the edge of diabetes, I’m happy to talk about that with you if you’d like to send a message

That is super scary! You have made the decision to change and that is huge. Welcome to the group.
I am almost to maintenance and have learned that there are super knowledgeable people here that are willing to offer advice, support and answer so many questions. It is so helpful.
For me, getting a digital food scale was a game changer. Learning what correct portion sizes are, decent protein servings, etc.
Take one step at a time and develop habits that will last. This isn't my first rodeo here. But this time I decided that I was not going to do anything I wasn't willing to do permanently. That means I have figured out how to work treats in, and how to make better treats.
You can do this. Give it time and yourself grace. We will be here cheering for your success. Good luck!!

hello and welcome.
‘sorry to hear about your medical scare. I can’t even imagine how scary that must be.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last year. It has been a wake up call for sure. My Dr. put me on Ozempic and I am slowly losing weight. I’ll find out what my latest a1c is in about a week. I’m pretty sure it is down based on my improved eating habits.
‘this is a great place to get support. Consistency has been key for me, even when I blow it, being willing to get back on the horse so to speak and continuing with my plan.
just remember, you’re worth it and you got this!1 -
Medical issues are very scary. My family has been through quite a few the past year. I am glad you came through this and can now work on your health. You will be in good company here.
