I've been absent but still here. I finished a class a few weeks ago and have been diving into all the books I've saved up for pleasure and my daughter and I have had some great afternoons spent reading over the Easter break. I start a spring class next week and in Saskatoon for 5 days - I know it will be a busy week but excited for the change and learning that will happen.

@fourathomej it sounds like you had a nice Easter! That is so cute your granddaughter would find the eggs over and over. Sounds like something I did when I was younger!
@cleaneater80 did you read any good books that you would recommend? I just finished Verity by Colleen Hoover and it was pretty good.
I rode my bike today for the first time since winter. It's amazing how weak my quads are, even with my jogging and body pump! Plus I get so out of breath going up hills. I should ride more frequently…

Woohooo go me, giving up the snacking is working.
I have to be honest though, I have been smoking again, just a little bit, like 1 or 2 every other day. 😕 This renovation process is stressful and the whole house seems to be a little short tempered. I realized I need to stick with design and design only, let the husband handle the construction and just keep my mouth shut.
I am concentrating on my garden. I did not know that it sometimes take years for Peonies to actually bloom. I want to try roses, on the side of my house where it's bare, so maybe I will work on that this weekend.

Popping in to rave: I tried on a pair of pants that I loved but I had gained too much weight to wear anymore, and they FIT!! I can even sit in them without suffocating. I thought I had taken a picture when they weren't fitting, but I can't find it. But I remember, they got tossed to the "too-small" box for a reason. :) I'm going to a free pilates class tomorrow morning.

Sorry I missed last week, I've been totally MIA. Yet again, a good loss driven by stomach issues. I told this group about a new doc I was seeing way back in July 2023 to help me with weight management. That doc wanted to try the medication route, so first we did an ADHD drug that did initially help me lose some weight - probably the first 15-20 lbs of my current loss from starting at ~285. But the nature of those kinds of drugs is that your body gets used to them fairly quickly, so the effects really plateaued after that. Then, we switched to a drug similar to Ozempic, which I was pretty nervous about, because I knew there were a lot of potential side effects. True to form, I was not thriving on that med, so then we switched one more time to a drug that is supposed to work similar to Ozempic but is a different ingredient and, according to my doc, "tolerated better." Not for me… I've had so many nights this year (started this drug in late November) where my stomach was so uncomfortable, or I had intense reflux and couldn't get to sleep for hours, or woke up in the middle of night to go get sick in the bathroom.
It all came to a head this Monday. One of the worst days I've had with my stomach, terrible low abdominal cramping which I haven't had since my time of the month was really bad in my 20s and never before with all these meds, every issue one can have in a bathroom (TMI? sorry), just exhausted and miserable.
SO. Enough with that! I still have to craft my email to my doc to tell her I am OUT, but I already threw out my remaining doses. I'm a little nervous to tell her and see/hear her reaction but. This is simply not worth losing weight. I'd rather be fat than in pain and constant fear of eating anything! And the worst thing is, I don't think either of those more recent drugs really helped me lose weight. In theory maybe they would have over time, but most of the last 15 lbs I've lost has been because of weeks like this - where I go several straight days without having a full meal because I am recovering from throwing up for hours. Which is not how you are supposed to go about this journey.
My trip to colorado was fun, we had great weather right up to the last night (when it snowed). I am once again going to try to commit to posting here more often.

TGIF! I went on a nice walk this evening. It's 74 and a slight breeze...perfect walking weather!
Tomorrow we are having some friends over for game night and then Sunday we are going to the park. It's supposed to be nice this weekend here.
@Kali225 Yes, those medicines are not worth it if you are constantly sick! I'm glad you had a great trip to Colorado!

I had a busy day today. Went for a walk and then we went to the park. Later this evening we had friends come over for board games. We had pizza for dinner, but I still made my day work for my calories! Great NSV there!

Ahh! It's been over a week since I logged in. I applied for a new job and I have an initial interview for it tomorrow. Also, I was asked to bartend at our local legion. Last night was my first night. It was a lot of fun and I made some excellent tips.

I have such a long list of things I would like to accomplish today, and it is already noon. But, probably the 2nd-most timing-consuming item is done; getting my car battery replaced by AAA. Glad that is taken care of, but of course, not cheap. I woke up to a gross rainy day, and the sun briefly came out, but seems to have disappeared again, which is a bummer. I wanted to set up my hammock on my tiny patio today (once the hammock is set up, it is the only thing that fits out there haha).
I am looking forward to May quite a bit. It will be the start of the kayaking season! (Potentially next weekend in fact but it is common for the opening day to be pushed back if the water temps haven't come up enough yet). Better weather. I hope to have made more progress on a big work project that has been pretty stressful, and should actually be rolling off that project in favor of training on new things.
I am going to try to finally start my 6-week workout challenge today or tomorrow. I am 3 weeks behind the live schedule, but that's what illness and travel and more illness will do.
