It is the double concentrate, not the "regular" 4:1. But still much less thick than using honey for example. PLUS… think how many fewer calories… essentially a 'free' upgrade of the plain yogurt to "stirred with fruit essence" :) What's missing is what went into the tub ;-)

Heading out for "Dutch" breakfast with friends, followed by Costco since I never got up on time to go yesterday—danger danger!!!🤯

I've missed so much fun here!

This made me laugh: "British contingent should put up some bangers and beans!😛"

This morning when me and the long-eared-one woke up I was whispering sweet nothings in her ear and started tantalizing her with different breakfast ideas. Bacon and eggs. Home fries and steak... She really perked up when I suggested sausages and baked beans :) (what a vegetarian I am to be whispering all these meaty things before I even get out of bed!)

I don't know what EVOO is - have to go look that up.

Black currant syrup in plain greek yogurt - THAT really caught my attention!!!! Last night I went to the LCBO - here in Ontario the liquor control board of Ontario - a government run retailer - is the only place to buy spirits. Wine and beer is now available in corner and grocery stores. I was stopping to pick up some Kahlua for my once BC friend - but turns out that is no longer available because Ontario has removed all American products from the shelves :( I knew that but somehow thought Kahlua was from Mexico :( - any way … at the end of this ridiculously long store - they were handing out free samples of blackcurrant flavoured whiskey just inside the door. THAT too was amazing :) Tasted like a not too sweet liquer - with the warmth of whisky! Everyone was happy wondering around the store with a little tipple in their bellies.

Nope nope. Everyone else was having eggs etc.

In addition to normal breakfasts (e.g with cccgg) lady monthsl, I often have a burger and extra eggs on the side there.

Their oatmeal is quite large of a plate. And thick. And I would add cream and sugar or syrup because they would be on the table. Would not bet against it being way more calories than the burger even. Definitely more than the aoup.

Nope. Went for the sweet spot for calories and benefitted from the lower price of the soup and salad combo!

I am an equal opportunity eater... no need to label the poor little meals and keep them subservient to societal expectations!😁🤣

And I misremembered. That whiskey was "blackBERRY" not "blackCURRANT" - still very good though

I'm usually a straight bourbon fan - no ice :) - or in tea. But. This one was very nice! :)

Well…. the "chatter" made me try… with what I had on hand (a remove voice says that the egg white version also has some milk).

Obviously our poor friends to the south cannot frivolously spend on experimental eggs at this time… but others may want to try a "cheaper in calories" breakfast or dinner chocolatey goodie with some acceptable-ish macros!

Pretty problematic clean-up…. make sure you wet the bowl and I hope the dishwasher works. The better you work the cocoa and ingredients to a homogenous paste the better the end result. Because of no-egg white and no baking mine didn't really rise. Also took about 2.5 to 3 min at full power with the quantities involved. But, it WAS chocolatey and of good consistency (not shakey/eggy). Egg whites discount the calories by A LOT.

    2 drops of liquid sucralose

hmmm….that looks pretty darned satisfying, PAV. And I love that sideplate!!!!!

Let me get this straight - that was an egg / applesauce and cocoa powder +sucralose?

Pretty darn correct…. 2 eggs (101.8g; but if I had finished draining the egg white 102). PC applesauce cup (cinnamon) 70 Cal nominal so I am thinking it is sweetened and not unsweetened (outside box is not around) Was 105g but I licked the spoon a bit so about 102 went into the pot.

I used 11.1g of no name cocoa but in the process of working it to a smooth paste quite a bit of it didn't survive. so I figure about 10g made it INTO the mix. egg white would have fluffied it. so would baking powder. Dropped 2 drops liquid sucralose using the dropper. Powdered has filler calories ;-)

I did 1 min full at 1200W 0.5 minutes at 40% then eyeballed it and went 2 min at full power but pulled it at 1:45. I figure that 2 to 3 at full would have done a better job! :)

That's not the original recipe and it WAS a bit denser. That's not terrible, actually. the cocoa does give it body all by itself. The issue there is to balance the body with the bitterness and the sugar ;-)

Oh my! (but macros are good!!!!)

    Flourless?

I can imagine this easier than the tuna bread in a mug my family is raving since they went carnivore.

Started from the egg white one that dutch girl MFP friend had perfected many years ago. I think the baking powder makes it fluffier but adds a bit of "harshness" that I don't particularly enjoy. this was not as fluffy but I liked it better. Beating up the eggs a bit would have potentially helped it be fluffier. I mostly concentrated on working the cocoa into not being powdery or lumpy and didn't beat up a froth before nuking.

I will try again tomorrow or day after maybe? There is no flour. I suppose you could add some almond flour and it wouldn't hurt it… The cocoa (if you add lots) acts a bit like a flour by itself. And the apple sauce does some magic :-)

I am not going to claim it is the same as the costco belgian chocolate cake… but one is half the calories of the other for the same weight… and if not eaten one next to the other it is a credible warm hug!

picture has everything I put in there! the cinnamon in the apple sauce suited it… lucky break!

I'm going to try that today maybe. I don't have a microwave - but we'll see how it goes in a real oven. Will add some calories buttering the dish ahead of time - but I always have room for more fat in my daily macros … LUCKY break :)

Is the just egg white - not whole egg for calories/fat reasons? If so - I'll just use a whole egg. Since this will be a meal/snack I think? Don't usually have eggs - but bought some for the weekend's lava cakes.

Let's see how this baby goes!

That choc slice looks lovely … no more cake for me today ….or this week! Still in calories though … just!

Laurie zero idea how it would work with oven vs microwave🤷‍♂️

Most mug cake recipes seem to add some sort of flour. Milk would also help dissolve the cocoa powder. I used neither yesterday but it didn't rise much at all.

Egg whites would be both for calories and for rise I would think.

I just happen to be in weird situation of having eggs but no egg whites and I refuse to buy the large carton from Safeway though I forgot to buy the three pack of 500g cartons from costco
