    @angmarie28 That's cool! A family affair! Congrats to you all!

    I've done 5 runs, the last being 1 ½ years ago.

    I gathered the results for my races to share with you. Here they are below.
    After my races, I enjoyed joking around a bit when telling others about my races.
    The conversation would go something like this:

    • me: Yes, there was a half marathon, a 10k or a 5k to choose from. I chose the 10k.
    • them: good for you! And you finished?
    • me: Yeah, I did,… in fact, I came in second! (boasting a bit)
    • them: Wow! That's amazing!
    • me: Yeah. Well, I mean, not overall,… just second in my age group.
    • them: (less amazed) Oh. Well, that's still very good…
    • me: Yeah, thanks. What was that? How many were in my age group? Well,… just two. (grin)
    • them: (laughing) Well, you still did it. Good for you!

    @frankwbrown I know you're going to think I'm crazy, but I'm the only one in my family that doesn't like chocolate…about once a year, I crave one bite of white chocolate…then that's it…and I blame that on hormones…I can't explain why except that it's just too sweet for me…makes me want to grit my teeth. For me sweets are any dessert with fruit in it…peaches, cherries, apples, raisins…or a good cinnamon bun or cheesecake. OK, I'm weird. I've accepted that long ago. LOL 🤣 😋

    STEP CHALLENGE PARTICIPANTS, YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!

    We're having a little difficulty handling the variety of formats we see when you post your steps. It's easy enough to see what you mean, but it's easier still to use a little copy/paste trickery to get the job done. That's where the problem pops up.

    So, if you could please make sure your post adheres to these rules:

    • make your steps easy to see in your post
    • if multiple days, single spacing or double spacing is fine, whatever works for you
    • whatever else you do, use spaces to separate date and steps from anything else.
    • enter date like 6/15 (with a slash), not 6-15 (with a dash)
    • do or don't use a comma in your steps, but if you're prone to accidently hitting a period instead of a comma, please just omit the comma.
    • that's about it, but...
    • if you like, use an optional character to visually separate date and steps:
      • optional characters like dash (-), equal sign (=), em (—) are all fine, as are just about anything, as long as you've got the spaces mentioned above.
    • it can be as simple as this: 6/15 12345
    • or as complicated as this: my steps for today, Sunday 6/15 were 12,345

    So, here's a few examples of what doesn't work:

    • 6/15-12345 (no spaces)
    • 6-15 12345 (hyphen in date, instead of slash)
    • Sun 6/15 - 12.345 (period in steps, instead of comma)
    • Sunday = 12,345 (just the day of week, date omitted)
    • June 15 = 12,345 (month spelled out; this one actually works, but it's sloppy)

    I have done a few runs. We. Have a local run motherboard weekend called the women's run. Its 2 or 5 miles, ife done the 5 mile 3 times and the 2 mile once. I ran 2 marathons, the only 9mpressave thing there is that I finished. First one took 6 hours, 40minutes. It was actually 10 minutes past the cut off time (it was a stupid hot day so ther shortened the time you got to run it but i still tries) so im not even on the finishers list, and I was the last one to finish, I wasn't far behind a few groups though so whatever. Then I did another 3 months later, but I did it with a friend who was just getting over bronchitis so I went at her pace and it took 7 hours. Proud I did it, but never again haha

    On one of my 10k runs, I was not only the last person to finish, they had already rolled up to timing mat and other gear at the finish line. A truck came by to make sure I was okay. 😂

    On my bucket list is doing a half marathon, but the ones I'm looking at usually have a 3.5 to 4.5 hour time limit (depending on terrain), and I don't think I can go that fast for that distance. I did manage a pace under 18 min/mile on one 10k (with no elevation change), but the others were all 20+ min/mile.

    I've got my eye on one race in the beautiful redwoods of the Santa Cruz mountains. They have a "hiker" division that gets to leave an hour earlier, so you've got 5 ½ hours to finish, although you don't get a medal.

    @angmarie28 - I loved the fun family picture you posted after your run. What a nice shared experience and the signs/captions were so cute — a nice way to capture the memory! I’ve also enjoyed all the running stories! It doesn’t matter to me if someone finishes first or last because I admire the personal challenge of setting out to do something important to you and then striving to achieve it. Actually, it doesn’t even matter if we finish because the purposeful practice of engaging with the world is likely to make us stronger, healthier, etc. Congratulations to everyone who ‘enters the arena’! 👏👏👏

    I’ve been doing a little more running these days b/c I signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon in late October. They call it “the people’s marathon.” This will be my first attempt at running such a long distance so my goal is just to finish — to be the woman in “the arena” 😂 Best wishes to all the Shape Shifter team members pursuing something important to your health and wellbeing. Go get those goals!
