You know how this works…when you know you'll be out of town, just post and let us know in advance. I've excused you from next week's weigh-in. Travel safe! Bonus points for exercising while on your business trip! 😁

Day 2 of trying to add more movement to my routine! Yesterday I got 10 minutes of walking on the treadmill in, but didn't feel up to chair yoga. It was also date night and I didn't mind my eating (which is why I moved weigh in days off Saturdays), but we had a lovely time at one of the haunts we've not been to lately. I am debating whether tracking food works for me or not. I definitely have trouble hitting the right calorie amount without checking, but tracking seems to make me twitchy; I end up getting upset with myself daily!

I completely blew my attempt to start going to bed at a reasonable hour, because I was working on something. I also slept straight through wake up time and clocked 12 hours sleep! However, I woke up today with the aches that have been plaguing me all week gone, so maybe I needed it.

I am about to go do my walk, and I am going to try to get chair yoga in in a couple hours before bed. I am trying not to exercise too close to bedtime, since that is supposed to keep you awake. I am also hoping to actually make my bedtime tonight!

@morenin - I’m sorry you had a bad day yesterday and couldn’t sleep, but I like your idea to start fresh today! When we’re tired it sometimes messes with our brains and we think we’re hungry. So, I hope you can get some rest and feel better soon!

@Krysless2 - Great loss! It sounds as though you have been an important part of your step son’s recovery. It’s helpful to surround ourselves with positive influences, and it’s great that you can be accountable to one another for exercise. Best wishes to your family!

I had a pretty rough couple of days. We had car problems, our sprinkler system wouldn't turn off (had to convince rental company is was an emergency to get them to send someone to fix it. He installed a valve to force it off, but it's still broken.) My husband is still hurting from his surgery.

While all of that was going on, my son hit his head and needed stitches. Because of the boys' disorder, their walking is very unsteady and unstable. They can only manage a short distance before they fall. They are essentially nonwalking. But they try. A lot. My heart hurts for them when they get hurt just trying to do this basic skill that they want to do so bad. I have been a nervous wreck since his stitches and stressed from watching them run aroud, trying to protect them when I can't really protect the from everything.

Just several of the anything that can go wrong, will go wrong type of days.

Anyway, my eating has swung from being too stressed to eat, to eating too much. My MIL came over yesterday. We ordered pizza. I didn't have to eat as much as I did, though. I've been going for walks, but haven't been to the gym in a while. I need to get back there soon.

@DaffyGirl88 i would have LOVED to have met you in the City! Maybe your next trip—I’m here every few months. You’re going to love the show!!
Well, I’ve sufficiently eaten my way through New York City lol. And while I’ve done a ton of walking, I feel like a puffed whale. Today, my daughter and I are headed to the Village for brunch with my oldest friend. Usually I dread these trips to NY: mostly because of my MIL but also because I’m a creature of habit. I like my routine and all the activity I’ve grown to love living in Miami. But this visit was different: my daughter was with me which made everything more fun, I got to see my besties, I did a lot of work in my apartment (hired a company to replace all the windows, hired a monthly cleaning lady, cleaned out a lot of junk and donated what I could) (my FIL passed in 2022 and we inherited this lovely apartment on the upper east side which he used for business eons ago, so I’ve been cleaning it out for the past 2 years and am now going to start renovating). So it was very productive and also a lot of fun. But I’m ready to go home tomorrow. Wishing you all a wonderful restful Sunday 💟

    Sunday, 6/8:

    PW: 164.6

CW: 164.6 no loss, but no gain either!

I weigh daily, and the scale showed 164.6, 5 out of the past 7 days! Strange, my weight is never that consistent.

I'm still working on building back my good habits:

    Pre-log food/drinks and log as I go.

    Getting more steps in daily.

    Check-in and post more here.

    Less after dinner indulgences.

Plus trying to balance work/life better…

Can you see one of the five or six tree dwellers I encountered on my hike?

(Photo not uploaded, I'll try again tomorrow)

    Good morning, y'all:

Up early this morning…feeling fairly strong today! Had my first meal earlier and am already on my fourth glass of water for the day. I'm using Mio Peach water enhancer today…very refreshing over ice!

Just finished my 20 minute walk for today…it's day 8 of my 30-day personal challenge…so far, so good…much easier on the weekend because I have more control over my schedule, but I haven't missed a day and on work days, I love that it helps me unwind after a stressful IT day.

Getting ready to go and do some meal prep this afternoon and bake my Sunday chicken…then all week long, I can have leftovers and that takes the pressure off of "what to fix tonight"…love that part of it. Also, I've learned that if I feel the need for some variety, I can always choose something out of the freezer and just add a piece of baked chicken TO the meal…it's all about choices some days…don't like to feel limited, so I make sure I have lots of choices. Already have my lunches planned with either chicken sandwiches, chips and fresh fruit or a half sandwich with a few Santa Fe small salads I picked up at Kroger…love them because they contain a little bit of roasted corn, grilled chicken and a zesty dressing that has a little southwest flair to it.

Gotta go put another load of laundry in…hope you're having a wonderful day!

    Jessica 😍

Housework done for today - CHECK ☑️!!!!

Not sure what to do with myself today…want to do more, but know that I need to rest. Woke up feeling a little off but that soon wore off after I got up and moving around. Anyone else every feel like that…restless I guess is a good word…

Time to lie down and read for a bit.

I'm back home, looking forward to a good night's sleep in my own bed!

On my hike yesterday, I noticed a few squirrels by an oak tree and I was trying to get a photo of them. As I watched them darting in and out of frame, I realized there were actually 5-6 squirrels running up and down the trunk of the oak tree. I managed to catch a shot of a couple. Eventually they all ran high up into the branches, and I think I saw one jump into a neighboring oak tree! Here's a couple photos:

Here's one little guy coming down the trunk (I think the blur behind him is another one):

    image.png

On today's Sierra Club hike at Point Pinole Regional Preserve, I caught a shot of an Osprey in it's nest on top the remnants of an old pier in San Pablo Bay. The papa Osprey was feeding several chicks in the nest (you can barely make one out to the right).
(Unfortunately, the photo has poor quality, because I took it with my phone on max zoom.)
