I didn't realize that I needed to be here posting steps on a regular basis. I can't commit to that as my life is too chaotic. You can take me off the step thing entirely. Thanks.

@frankwbrown Sorry, forgot to post my steps yesterday! Could you please remove me from the Step Challenge for now? I think I have increased my average per week a bit, but I'm not hitting the numbers I wanted yet. I feel like I'm letting the team down, and it's all kinds of stressful.
I checked the May Habit Tracker to make sure I'd updated it. It really is as bad as it looks. I'm getting to bed at a reasonable hour half the time almost, and believe it or not, that's an improvement. I'd like to try sticking with that, to try and get my tushy in gear.
Step goal: 5,000
5/29- 1,151
5/30- 2,124
5/31- 2,536

Hello, ShapeShifters! Welcome to @Grandma16grandkids and any other new members I might have missed!
I’m Patrice, a soon-to-be 59 year-old woman from the USA, living in northern Virginia with my husband and our younger son (age 23) who just finished college. Our older son (age 24) lives and works in Boston, Massachusetts, where my husband and I both grew up. We visit there regularly to spend time with family and friends.
For exercise, I like to row and play soccer. It helps motivate me when I have to be accountable to my team by showing up, plus it’s fun to learn new sports and enjoy some social interaction with friends. I started rowing at age 50, when my older son’s high school team offered a learn-to-row program as a fundraiser. I try to sweep row (8 people using one oar each - 4 starboard & 4 port - plus a coxswain) at least three times per week, and I go sculling (one person with two oars) when my work schedule allows, once or twice a week).I’ve been playing soccer longer; some of the soccer parents started a league in 2008. My younger son switched to baseball and football as his main interests shortly after I joined the league, but I’ve stuck with my Sunday-night co-Ed league except for a two-year hiatus when I had to hunker down to finish my doctoral dissertation or the university was going to ask me to leave. 😬
Our soccer team never practices so I hadn’t improved much over the years until recently. Now that my sons are grown, I’ve started playing ‘pickup’ soccer on Tuesday nights with women of all ages and it’s built my confidence — and even my skill (a bit). These days, I really need to concentrate on my nutrition. I have about 10 pounds to lose to reach a healthy BMI. My goal is to sustain my weight between 125-130 by building healthier eating habits.
It’s a new month so we have a clean slate to begin again with a renewed sense of focus and purpose. Best wishes, everyone!

May wasn't great for me weight-wise, up about 3 lbs… 😒
June sounds like a good opportunity for a re-set. I'm not going to do any absolutes, I will give myself some leniency, and just work on being good to myself. Somethings that I am working on:
Getting more steps in daily.
Check-in and post more here.
Less after dinner indulgences. (I do really well up until then.)
I do log-in everyday, however sometimes not until the next morning, and by then have probably forgotten the cookies I ate the night before! So, my plan is to pre-log, and log as I go, so everything has been entered before heading off to bed.
Besides my M-F, 9 hour days, with and hour commute each day, I work a couple of extra jobs. I do most of this on Sat & Sun, which entails lots of sitting at my computer, sometimes 8-10 hours each day. I need to find a way to budget my time better, and save one of those days for some me time… time to get out into the fresh air and sunshine, more hikes or even just nice slow strolls. Not only will this be good for my body, but for my mental wellbeing.
Happy Monday Everyone!

@looneycatblue Balancing the demands of work with "me time" can be a challenge. I was never good at it when I was still working. I'm retired now, so it's
not a problema lot easier!3 -

no worries…my life is busy too so I get it. Feel free to rejoin once you can commit to 2-3 day posting. Imagine if had to keep up with the stats…it can be time-consuming and that’s why we like it when you guys help us by meeting us halfway.

Thanks @jessicakrall8 - happy to be stuck with you guys! Thanks for the welcome @PatriceFitnessPal!
Hi ! I’m Mary and I live in the states. I’m in my 60s and looking to lose 30+ pounds. I doubt I’ll ever reach a normal BMI ever again, but would be happy dropping a couple of clothing sizes. The extra weight puts a strain on one of my feet and I have difficulty walking. I’m hoping that if I can drop some weight it may relieve some of the pain.
I’m now under 205 pounds and hope never to go above that number ever again. It’s been a few years since I was in the lower 180s. Ideally, I’d like to see the lower 170s.
Looking forward to getting to know my teammates! Wishing you all success with your journeys!

@Grandma16grandkids Here's to you reaching the 170s and me reaching the 220s, and everybody else reaching their goal weight as well.
(celebrating in anticipation of reaching our goals; later we can celebrate again, after reaching our goals!)

Got a problem. I thought my steps for Sunday seemed a bit low, but anyway, I figured out that my Samsung ring died sometime on Sunday, so now I have no steps for Monday or today. My charger is at my lake house, and I'm going up to the lake this afternoon. However, steps won't be counted for those two days, and Sunday is off as well. It's a real bummer as I walked 4.6 miles today in 1 hour and 10 minutes. Bummer.

@DaffyGirl88 "Stpes"… is that a cross between stepping and skipping? 😉🙂
4 -
@FWSWCindy Gah! I hate when that happens! All those steps for no reason. 😉
@frankwbrown It's whatever a 3 yo does. 😁 Sometimes when I'm with him and his 6 yo brother I feel like I'm in Monty Python's Bearau of Silly Walks. 🤣

@DaffyGirl88 it's not "for no reason" I just want to get credit for them!! :)

I partially did what I was hoping to accomplish with my June daily goals:
Pre-log food/drinks and log as I go: Done.
Getting more steps in daily: Woke up late, so just a 20 min walk, however better than nothing!
Check-in and post more here: Here I am!
Less after dinner indulgences: Oh well, today is a new day

Day 3 of my 30 day challenge to walk 20 min a day…today, I walked 33 (in two sets)…was trying to do my 20 this morning, but got called into my appointment only 13.5 minutes in…such is life! I'm so psyched to be getting my steps back up!!!! YAY!

Interesting tidbit…I read yesterday that Benjamin Franklin used a chart to track 13 virtues against the days of the week. Who knew that habit trackers have been around for over 200 years? 🤷♀️
