HOW IT ALL WORKS: The August challenge runs for five weeks, from August 3rd - August 30th.

Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!

We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leader board. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get August on the road! 😎

    Welcome to August 2025 🌞

    I am Lauren, co-captain along with @ashleycarole86

I am 39 years old and from North Carolina, USA. I have been on a weight loss journey most of my adult life. I have done a lot of the yo-yo thing, losing a lot of weight in 2012 and then gaining it back. Over the last few years, I seem to be gaining and losing the same 10-15 pounds.

July was an ok month. I lost a pound, but that means, I didn't gain! My goal for July is to lose 5 pounds by tracking every day, getting 7,000 steps daily, and continuing on my 5k training plan.

    Some helpful information/tools:

    Posting your daily updates

We know from experience that posting daily (or as often as you can!) makes a huge difference to your success. Use any format you like to let everyone know how you are doing on your daily goals and habits. You can report on food, exercise, water, sleep, or whatever you are tracking and trying to stick with. While you're there, talk about how you are, ask questions, and if you can answer someone else, please do! Congratulate others, commiserate, enjoy someone's rant, or go ahead and rant yourself. It all helps make the kind of community where we are in each others' heads when the hand is reaching for that off-plan snack, or the couch is feeling way too inviting...

    Weighing in

Please try to weigh in on time (but don't sweat it if you have to use a different day sometimes)! Put your weigh in at the TOP of a message, so it is clear and easy to find. If you cannot post your weight for whatever reason, you can request a week off, or if you need a longer break, you can be moved to the "Support Team" where you still participate but your weigh-ins will not be part of the weekly tally. This is where members who are ill, on vacation, or just needing a break can hang out for as long as needed.

    The F2F Habit Tracker

If you want a simple place to track your most important habits, give this a try:

    August Habit Tracker

So everyone, tell us a bit about you, your goals, what steps you are going to work on. It's fun to know your name and where you live (if you're willing to share that), what brought you here, how your weight loss journey has been, and where you are headed now. We all have information to share, things we can learn, and lean on each other as a team for a successful month!

I have been really enjoying this relaxing weekend at the beach! It rained last night and this morning, but I did take 2 walks! And for all those walks, lovely blisters on the top and bottom of my feet, hence the sneakers.

Hey @whitfcan I'm moving your post here! This is where you will post for the month:

Greetings, everyone! My name is Candice and I am so glad to be back on this challenge! I took a two year break but am ready to jump back in 😀

I’m currently enrolled in a weight loss program that is covered by my employer. It’s called Omada. If anyone has heard of it or has gone through it, I’d appreciate some advice on how you navigated it. So far, I’ve been doing pretty well in the program. Hoping that by joining this team, I will experience even more motivation.

    Hi team!

I'm Jackie, 35F, and I live in Michigan, USA. I'm married with 2 kids, a 4yo son and a 1.5yo daughter, and I also work part time as a mental health counselor. My kids keep me active, but my job typically involves a lot of sitting. I do have a few clients who enjoy walk and talk therapy, so when the weather allows I like to take advantage of this opportunity to move.

I gained quite a bit of weight during my last pregnancy and while breastfeeding, and now that I'm done with that phase of life I'm ready to put my weight loss goals toward the top of my priority list.

I have PCOS which can make weight loss a bit tricky, but I believe I have the tools I need to be successful. I resumed my weight loss journey a few months ago and I've been making slow and steady progress ever since! I appreciate all of the support and encouragement this group provides, it really makes a difference in my motivation and staying accountable.

    My goals for August are:

•Stay in the green each week

•Meet my step goal of 6000 every day

•Keep logging all of my food intake

•Get my weight into the next "decade"

•Engage in physical activity 5 days per week, with 1-2 of those being strength training

    Hello everyone,

My name is Yinka and I'm from Worcestershire in the UK. I'm 62 years old and have been on a weight-loss journey for a very long time. I have about 40lb to lose, and the menopause has rather muddied the waters and made it seem even more difficult.

No matter, this community is such a positive influence that I believe that consistency in logging and posting will help.

I work with my husband for a management consultancy that helps companies that are trying to use AI in their businesses, and also part-time for my local council to deliver digital skills classes.

I have decided to put in place a new short-term goal of losing 10lb by the time we go on holiday to Cyprus in October.

Welcome back @conleywoods I used to love your guinea pig updates. Michele @micki48 those butterfly photos are gorgeous. Take good care of that knee of yours - those "pop" noises sound alarming!

Now that my Ben's been home for a fortnight, life is returning to normal, and Ben has found a new respect for balance - hence the Cyprus trip.

My main goal for this month is to come in here and comment each day.

    Happy Monday everyone!

It's a slow start for me today as I woke up at stupid-o-clock and couldn't get back to sleep. Maybe I'll have a nap later (even though I hate sleeping in the day!)

I hope everyone has a good start to the week.

Good morning, happy August. Feeling a little down this morning but know it’s probably just hormones & anxiety over waiting to hear about a job I applied for. And just guilt as I had sugar multiple times this weekend - but today is a new day.

I think I’ll do the step challenge this month. Getting steps during the week is a challenge because of my sedentary job even though I do workout several times a week. I’ll set a modest goal of 6000 steps as I’ve been averaging close to 5000 on weekdays. So do I just post my step counts once a week then?

    Goals for August:
    Reach daily step goal
Log food and stay within 100 cals of target daily
Be in the green every week

I’d also like to switch my weigh in day to Fridays.

Thankful for the accountability this group provides.

Hi Team, I'm Vikki 53, turning 54 this month. I have yo- yo'd all my life with weight, last year I met my goal, but after a cruise in December it went up +/- 10lbs and I just haven't been able to get back on track. August is going to be my month, it hasn't started out perfect, but better than before. I did not do any intentional exercise this weekend, but I did do alot of work around the house and yard.

August will be different for me, my youngest son moved home after separating from the air force, so he was here for 4 months before he found a new job and moved out on his own. I am not sad about that, I have come to really like my empty nest, we also completed a complete kitchen renovation, we have one thing left which is the kitchen island, right now we have a table in it's place, but we finally decided on the layout and color this weekend. So I will get that ordered, and pick out a countertop and it will be done !

SO I have a newly empty exercise area (that was where his bedroom was), and a shiny new kitchen, I should be able to kick but this month.

I went to the drs this morning for my annual check up, and I am good, bp was 117/78 - (I was able to get off the bp meds last year) so I feel good about that. I really gotta quit smoking though.

Tonight I am not sure what I am going to do, but I will do something. I am thinking some pilates/ yoga.

    Have a great day !

Hi everyone. My name is Jolene. I am 40 years old and I live in Colorado with my husband and three entertaining dogs. Like most people here, my weight has yo-yo'd throughout my life. I had it in check with diet and lots of exercise until just after my 28th birthday when an injury made it nearly impossible to exercise for a while. Since then, I slowly gained 65 lbs to my all time high of 193 (it might have been higher, but I was too ashamed to step on a scale!) in 2023. I joined this group in the summer of 2023 and have lost 13lbs. At one point I was down 23lbs, but the yo-yo is real.

I am the group's motivator, although I have not done a great job in a while. Luckily, I am part of the BEST team because all of you help motivate each other!

@ashleycarole86 - steps for this last week:

Tuesday, July 29 - 7,109 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit

    Wednesday, July 30th - 4,501 steps

    Thursday, July 31st - 9,611 steps

Friday, August 1st - 7,833 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit

Saturday, August 2nd - 10,581 steps, 1.5 hours of pickleball

    Sunday, August 3rd - 4,675 steps

    Happy August Everyone!

My name is Kristi and I'm 43, married with 3 kids living in Washington state in the US. I'm currently on summer vacation and school starts around the end of August. I'm a school based occupational therapist. I have been working with a wellness coach for just over 3 months. I also found out I have mild/early insulin resistance which can make it difficult to lose weight and manage cravings/appetite. I'm working on steps to reverse insulin resistance. I have a continuous glucose monitor coming today so I can see how my habits are impacting my glucose spikes and drops. It will pair with my oura ring and give me Insights. Then my coach will help me make sense of all the data.

Things I'm doing for insulin resistance

    1. Hit my macros and stay under 100g of carbs a day.
    2. Exercise every day even if it's just a walk and stretching.
    3. Limit my eating to breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. Stop eating by 7pm.
    4. Increase fiber
    5. Eat meals with carbs in the right order (fiber, protein and fats, then carbs)
    6. Take apple cider vinegar mixed in a drink or salad dressing before meal with most carbs.

I'm still in the learning process with insulin resistance and hopefully I will learn more.

@Alatariel75 you probably did ask to be excused, I'm sorry! I have been stupid busy this last month and things will hopefully slow down.

@stephanodda I hope you hear about the job soon! And keeping my fingers crossed you get it!

We got back from a long weekend at the beach and I ate olive garden for dinner last night. This included not tracking and many, many indulgences. But it did also include several walks on the beach. Somehow, I managed to lose 3 pounds this weekend! Hopefully it stays down for tomorrow's weigh-in!

We read atomic habits for book club this month. I have read this book several times. I love the thought of making small changes and stacking habits. When I wake up, I make my bed. After I go to the bathroom, I do 5 squats. I have found this to be really helpful for exercise and movement, but don't know how to incorporate this for food. Just my random thought of the past few days.

Happy August team! I am Michele- 61, married with two grown children and two granddaughters. I teach first grade at a private school near Philadelphia, PA USA. I have been with this group since 2019. (More or less)

I did ok last month but had a gain one week. Not sure what my loss was last month. I’ve been logging my food which I know is so important for me. I did it religiously for years but must have burnt out and stopped for a long time. I need to do this because I am not where I want to be. I would really like to be 4 pounds down by the end of the month. Doesn’t seem likely given my history of weight loss. I actually found something from 2002 with my weight loss. It’s incredible how much I would lose in a week. That’s the difference between being 38 and 61. Now I’m lucky to lose .5.

    IMG_2408.jpeg

My goals are to log my food daily, stay under calorie goal, take 10 minute walks. Drink more water and check in daily here.

    Good luck everyone!

Good evening! Just checking in for the day. I'm doing a room makeover for the boys and today was tear down and haul out day. Got plenty of exercise doing that! Food was on target for the day. Lifted weights while dinner was in the oven. Went for a 20 minute walk after dinner. I set up my glucose monitor and attached the device. That was a little scary but luckily didn't hurt at all. Next I'm winding down for the evening.

@micki48 Logging does get old but you're right, it's key to dropping pounds. Keep going, you got this!

@lllauren989 Sounds like a great trip and weight loss! Glad you had some active time on your trip. Walking on the beach is one of my favorite things.

@Gidgitgoescrazy Getting off blood pressure meds is awesome!

@stephanodda Good luck on the job hunt. Waiting is the worst!

@micki48 I remember those cards, I really liked going to my WW meetings back in 2004, the group and leader I had were just wonderful, very supportive and just fun. I tried going back a few times, but it just wasn't the same.

I did not do well yesterday at all, but at 5.30 this morning I did 20 minutes of pilates/yoga. I really need to do this more often, everything is so tight, and my balance is just poop.

Today will be a good day !

I have a relay race in 2.5 weeks 😬. I've known it's coming up, but now it is almost here and today was my first true cardio day since I hurt my knee in May. I managed to do 40 minutes and 4.13 miles on the elliptical. My hope is that doing CrossFit, pickleball, and many, many walks at altitude (we live at 6,300ft or 1,920 meters above sea level) will make up for my lack of running. Especially since the majority of the race is barely above sea level.

    @ashleycarole86 - Monday, August 4 - 7,904 steps, 40 minutes of spin, 1 hour of CrossFit
