Posting my steps for this past week. Yesterday around noon my Fitbit died and I forgot it on the charger until this morning 🤦♀️🤦♀️. Im usually over 10k on the weekends and I was pretty active yesterday afternoon. I wish I had a more active job though. M But I need to do better regardless. Goal for this week is to meet my step goal on more days than this past week.

@mkksemail I am having my whoosh too
One of my issues is I routinely gain up to 5 pounds when my period comes and it holds on for the week, so I was hoping it'd come down before I weighed in
Already this morning it's started to drop off. I know this and I go through it monthly but it never gets easier.
How's everyone's weekend going? I feel positive for the week ahead. Brad is travelling so I'll just make simple meals for myself. No reason not to stay on track. I do fly to Vancouver Friday to meet him to go to their fair, so I'll have to practice some control there.

@stephanodda I too wish I had a more active job. I have had thoughts that it'd be nice to go back to school for nursing so that I could work on my feet. Sitting at a desk all day hurts my body!

@jguldi11 I hope your husband is ok! That must have been scary! 💕

@ashleycarole86 depends on the nursing job. When I worked in the hospital, I easily got 10,000 steps there. Now that I work at primary care (GP) I'm lucky to get 3,000 steps at work.

@lauren_989 good point about the type of nursing, I was envisioning the hospital but I didn't consider that other forms of nursing wouldn't have the same step count. I'm not sure I really clued in that you are a nurse… thanks for the comments from you and others about the work stress. It's funny because the job itself is much less stressful than my last job for a lot of reasons but a few months in now I'm starting to feel like it's not the right fit for me, and that's been really tough on me. Living in this new place is so great and the change has the potential to be great so I don't want my job to ruin it. Trying to work on my mindset.
Some good news… I GOT ON THE PELOTON TODAY! First time since we moved.

Wahoo! Great job getting on the peleton @ashleycarole86 I may have mentioned I'm in nursing or healthcare, but sometimes I feel like I'm telling people to get healthy, not eat junk and exercise, but here I am struggling with that myself!

@gidgitgoescrzy and @lauren_989 I haven’t been back to WW in years but it worked for me back in the day too. Can’t believe how I was losing. Age sure does slow things down.
@lauren_989 Thanks for those numbers. That is progress for me. Glad to know that. Now another few would be great. I was down for my weigh in this week but I was up again today. Boo
Yinka that forest walk is lovely. I’d love to walk and chat with you.Today we took a good walk at the arboretum. About two miles. The flowers were gorgeous. I am spent now. That’s our problem. We always go from 0 to 60. We need to keep it up and do a little every day. Instead of all or nothing. Hoping I go take a walk tomorrow. I also have PT in the morning.
Here are my steps for the week. Not great. Low day, I forgot to put it on after charging. Ashley, I may lower my goal to 6,000 so I can be successful. Then raise it.

@stephanodda you have such a great attitude, it's inspiring! I can relate to the sedentary job, it makes it so hard to get steps in sometimes. I have a few clients who enjoy walk & talk therapy sessions which helps some, but most of the time I'm sitting hour after hour on the days that I work.
@conleywoods thank you, I was looking into the Stelo before and I think I'm going to give it a try!
@ashleycarole86 I'm sorry to hear your new job isn't seeming like a good fit. We spend so much if our lives at work, it's important to find some kind of joy from it.
@lauren_989 for some reason I also didn't realize you're a nurse, thank you for all you do! Most nurses I've encountered have been amazing humans. My husband is pretty much back to his normal self thankfully. He has a follow up with the surgeon to talk about next steps to prevent from having a recurrence.
@micki48 there's nothing wrong with adjusting your goals to be more realistic. Once you meet the new goal consistently that's usually motivation enough to bump it up a bit!
@mkksemail holy cannoli those are outrageously expensive shoe inserts! Good on you for doing your research and not getting swindled. A lot of sales people take courses in psychology to learn strategies to increase their sales, so it's great you were able to stay within your comfort zone.
Today was an active day for me, I took the kids to our local splash park, it was my daughter's first time and she had a blast. I think she enjoyed meeting the other little kids just as much, or more than playing in the water. My son is always on the move so I had to keep a close watch on him.
I also did some cleaning around the house, despite having the a/c on I still was dripping sweat from the housework. It's been very hot and humid here the last few days.
Yesterday I decided to experiment with coffee, protein powder, and ice to make a delicious iced coffee drink. It's my favorite breakfast at the moment! I think tomorrow I'll add some chia seeds and ground flax for more fiber and healthy fats.

Happy Monday, So my weekend was fun, but exhausting, on Friday we went to 4 different stores, for returns and party supplies, then we put every single room back together from the kitchen renovation and the 4 months of my son moving in from the Air force, then moving out to his new job. He still has alot of stuff here, but we got it sorted nice and neat, and out of the way, I also made some salads and desserts for the party. It was my 1st time baking in a new oven, so my 1st batch of cookies was a little over done on the bottom, and raw on the top, so I adjusted the temp and moved the rack and the rest, turned out fine, but it still makes the edges pretty cripsy. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but thats not my usual cookie, so I have to figure that out. Oh and I totally failed making black bottom cupcakes, I mean totally, I cheated and bought a box mix for the cake part, and I just wasn't paying attention, and all I had to do was add oil, eggs and water… well I forgot to add the water, I totally knew the batter was weird, and was like whatever it'll be fine, I don't know why I didn't double check the box, anyway they were not fine, they went in the trash and I instacarted mini cupcakes and browine bites from Wegmans. . Saturday morning was yard work and a last dust and vacuum, then around noon we had a little party, so of course I had drinks, but was super active. It was nice having an afternoon party though, because everyone left around 6pm, so we had time to clean up and put everything away, and woke up on Sunday with nothing to do. Yesterday was a completely lazy day, but I did do 30 minutes on the treadmill. Today is work, then I am going to do some yoga/pilates this evening, I have a tweak in my back hip (I'm not actually sure what you would call that area) but it's really bothersome.
Have a great day !

Happy Monday Waistaways 🥰
CW 245.6lbs 🤯
Honestly I am shocked with my weightloss this week. Standing on the scale I thought I will have to beg you all for forgiveness, because I was sure I will be over 250lbs! 🫣Last 10 days while on my holiday I was just enjoying the time with family. we would drink alcohol and ate fast food. We did walk a lot, too. I am in the middle of my time of the month too. All of it added together I was sure it will be a gain 🫣
But oh well… here we go … I got a lifeline and I will grab it with both of my hands 😁
Also I've signed up as a full member with my local leisure centre. They have a gym, fitness classes and swiming pool. I just have to use it 🤭
Ashley, my steps so far, not a lot 😏
Wednesday August 6th 13,124 steps
Thursday August 7th 10,353 steps
Friday 8th August 9,820 steps
Saturday 9th August 7,538 steps
Sunday 10th August 6,187 steps
Have a lovely rest of Monday everyone !

Quick step check-in. @ashleycarole86
Friday, August 8th - 7,509 steps, 3 games of bowling
Saturday, August 9th - 12,881 steps, 2.5 hours of pickleball
Sunday, August 10th - 3,382 - I did nothing but grocery shop and meal prep, and I'm okay with it. It was my rest day.

Vikki/gidgit, I couldn't help it, I laughed at the cupcake mishap! WTG on your active weekend, and it sounds like you had a lovely Sunday afternoon party, as well :).
Jackie, I didn't get your PM, so I sent you a friend req. I'm not sure if PMs always go through when you're not MFP friend with each other.
It's sticky/heavy/warmish here. I really shouldn't complain bc it's only 89F here (93F heat index), but it's Maine, and I'm not accustomed to above 85F :p,
Cheers, WaistAways! ~ mk :)

@ashleycarole86 congrats on selling the condo. One less thing to worry about. I love my nursing career, yes you get great exercise for the majority of the places you work, and you also see the world from such a different perspective. As you said it also is a mindset thing and something I have to work on too. You are not to old to make a change and find what's right for you. It's something I keep telling myself too.
jguldi11 what a tough week seeing your husband struggle and going to the hospital. Hope all is well for him.
mkksemail wow that is a ridiculous price - Trust your gut.
jguldi11 tell me more about this coffee protein powder drink you make?
strong_fit_ells The leisure center sounds divine. Good incentive to go workout.
It's my last week of work then I have 2 weeks off and heading away with the family. Also have some family from the UK visiting us for 5 days. It will be crazy bc they are a family of 6 with 5 year old twins as the youngest but I'm so excited for the chaos and fun. I'm overcome with zucchini in my garden - does anyone have any great recipes for zucchini ?
2 -
@jguldi11 yes, please tell us more about the coffee drink!
@strong_fit_ells great loss this week!
@Gidgitgoescrzy you sounded very busy the past few days! It's crazy how different ovens cook different ways at the same temps!
I had a nice weekend, did a lot of walking and now back to work. It was super busy today and I was exhausted even though I went to bed early. It will be another early night for me! Tomorrow I have a board game night which I look forward to!
Shout out to our top winners this week! @Gidgitgoescrzy @Pearl4686 🥳

I feel like the tortoise from the tortoise and the hare. Sloooooowww and steady 😅 can't complain though, slow weightloss is sustainable weightloss.
I'm out of the 260s!

@jguldi11 congrats on the new decade.. always such a great feeling to see a new number on the scale
@micki48 absolutely Michele, I have updated your goal to 6K. I totally get the feeling - the point of a goal is to feel motivated by it, not overwhelmed. Great plan to readjust for now and get comfortable hitting that.
@cleaneater80 It definitely gives me something to think about. I've been on autopilot with work for so long that thinking about trying something totally different is pretty unlike me. It's also hard to imagine going back to school after graduating almost 20 years ago. It for now is just a little escape fantasy in my mind of something that could be fun, but who knows.. I'm going to keep an open mind about the option.
Thanks to all who have reported their full week 1 steps. Final call to those that still have to report for Aug 3-9. I'd like to get the report out within a day or two! Thanks in advance.
Off to hit the Peloton for the second day in a row!

Coffee protein shake recipe:
2 cups brewed flavored coffee (I use caramel flavored), cooled (or make coldbrew)
1 cup ice
1 scoop chocolate flavored protein powder - I used Designer Whey
1 tbsp half & half
1 tsp (adjust to your own taste) sugar free vanilla syrup, I use ChocZero sweetened with monk fruit
1/2 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
1/2 tbsp ground flax (optional)
Shake it up and enjoy! Could even blend it if you like that sort of thing 😊

Yesterday was another busy day, I always feel so worn out on my days off and now that I'm tracking my activities for this week's challenge I realize why haha. There's always cleaning or cooking to do, plus diaper changes, playing with the kids, putting toys away that they're going to pull right back out 🙃, and then any intentional exercise I choose to make time for.
I'm happy with my food choices from yesterday as well, overall it was a good day.
Today I go to work so unless I have a client who wants to go for a walk, I will be sitting most of the day. That and dealing with insurance/documentation are my least favorite parts of the job.
@ashleycarole86 the thought of going back to school for something new is so intimidating! When I was in grad school a few members of my cohort were there later in life and they did great, I found them so inspiring. Hopefully you find a way to enjoy your current job, or discover a new path you want to go down!

@ashleycarole86 - Monday, August 11th - 6,618 steps. Also, congratulations on selling your condo!
@jguldi11 - Way to go on making it to a new decade!
I will try to find some time later today and catch up on everyone's posts. Until then, cheers!

Step report will be coming tomorrow because tonight I'm off to donate plasma for the first time. I've been a regular whole blood donor for years now but my new city only has a plasma clinic other than the occasional mobile clinic for whole blood, so I figured I'd give that a try. It's a bit of a longer process so that's my night's focus.
I've been treating my body really well the past few days, partially to get ready for it. So that's nice!
My butt was so sore on the Peloton last night so it appreciates the rest break today, tee hee. I will be back on it tomorrow. It's +35C here today so my steps have been low as well, and with this appointment it'll stay that way. All good, not every day can be a big day. I need to remind myself that sometimes instead of getting in an all or nothing mentality.

We had a tornado warning today while I was at work. We usually don't have a lot of tornadoes in Michigan but this season we've already had 30 in the state, which is a bit scary. Fortunately today there were no confirmed tornadoes, just some rotation and funnel clouds. When we first received the warning notification I was feeling a bit anxious and my mind went to all the delicious snacks the office manager keeps stocked for us. It was so tempting to grab some chips and cookies, but I thought about this group and my goals, and opted for a small granola bar instead.
It's going to take some mindfulness and dedication to stay on track later this week. On Thursday I have lunch scheduled with a friend after work to celebrate her birthday, and this weekend my daughter and I are going out of town with my sister in-law and her daughter for a girls trip. Thankfully both my friend and SIL are supportive of my weightloss efforts so I won't have peer pressure to deal with, just my internal "food noise" to fight.
