HOW IT ALL WORKS: The September challenge runs for four weeks, from August 31st - September 27th.

Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!

We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leader board. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get September on the road! 😎

    Welcome to September!

I am Lauren, co-captain of team WaistAways, but filling in for the wonderful @Megan_smartiepants1970 She has unfortunately been sick for the past few months, but hopefully will be back here soon!

I am 39 years old and from North Carolina, USA. I have been on a weight loss journey most of my adult life. I have done a lot of the yo-yo thing, losing a lot of weight in 2012 and then gaining it back. Over the last few years, I seem to be gaining and losing the same 10-15 pounds.

August was a great month for me! Now I need to focus on consistency and continuing to lose weight.

    Some helpful information/tools:

    Posting your daily updates

We know from experience that posting daily (or as often as you can!) makes a huge difference to your success. Use any format you like to let everyone know how you are doing on your daily goals and habits. You can report on food, exercise, water, sleep, or whatever you are tracking and trying to stick with. While you're there, talk about how you are, ask questions, and if you can answer someone else, please do! Congratulate others, commiserate, enjoy someone's rant, or go ahead and rant yourself. It all helps make the kind of community where we are in each others' heads when the hand is reaching for that off-plan snack, or the couch is feeling way too inviting...

    Weighing in

Please try to weigh in on time (but don't sweat it if you have to use a different day sometimes)! Put your weigh in at the TOP of a message, so it is clear and easy to find. If you cannot post your weight for whatever reason, you can request a week off, or if you need a longer break, you can be moved to the "Support Team" where you still participate but your weigh-ins will not be part of the weekly tally. This is where members who are ill, on vacation, or just needing a break can hang out for as long as needed.

    Habit Tracker

If you want a simple place to track your most important habits, give this a try

    September Habit Tracker

    Step Challenge

Anyone is welcome to join our weekly step challenge! All you have to do is pledge a number of steps (set a goal) of how many steps you would like to get a day. Then at the end of the week, post your steps! You are challenging yourself and staying active is one way to hit your health goals! 🚶‍♀️

So everyone, tell us a bit about you, your goals, what steps you are going to work on. It's fun to know your name and where you live (if you're willing to share that), what brought you here, how your weight loss journey has been, and where you are headed now. We all have information to share, things we can learn, and lean on each other as a team for a successful month!

I had a busy day today, but did sleep in! I went for a walk/jog this morning followed by more work in my garden. The last 2 days, I trimmed, weeded, raked, mulched, and put new stones around it. A lot of work but it looks great! Tomorrow, I have one other garden area I want to do this with. Luckily it wasn't too hot, but I still worked up a sweat. But after I took this picture, it looks like I need to powerwash the walkway. Things are never done around the house!

    Hello September!

As the team motivator, I am excited to help motivate and encourage all!  Let’s have an awesome September!

A little about me:  I was really focused on my nutrition and working out, however, over the last year and a half I wasn’t as disciplined.  I have let weight creep up on me and now I know I need to make a change to my diet and exercise program.  I am excited to do so (45 yrs old)!  Bye, twenty pounds!  Let’s do it together!

I am now retired from my professional job.  We recently moved from FL to TX (North of Dallas).  I throughly love horseback riding and have two horses: Ravello (Dutch Warmblood) - dressage and Hollywood (Quarter Horse) - western pleasure.  Since my childhood I have loved horses and use to jump, dressage, english/western pleasure and show.  I love to garden as well.  Next spring I will plan our new garden!  I wasn’t able to have a garden this year due to our move.

Welcome back all teammates and Hi 👋 to all new members! I look forward to getting to know you!

    Goals for September:

Nutrition - Track 🎯 Macros 40/40/20 and calorie consumption.  I use Fitbit. Cut back on vino. 🍷

     Exercise - 10K 🏃‍♀️ steps per day (6 out of 7 days) - - Ride Peloton Bike/4 x’s a week and strength training! 💪

     Mind/Spiritual - Read Bible daily 🙏

Weigh-In Daily Tracking Sheet - It helps me to weigh-in daily.  I don’t obsess over it, however, I like to   track things, haha my analytical background!  Love excel! :)

    Question? ❓❓❓❓

What is one goal weight related and one goal NSV for the month of September?

    Mine:

One weight goal: 🌺 Lose one pound a week in September.

    Non-scale Victory goal: Improve ⬆️ positive self-talk!

Hi everyone! I’m Jen, 44, from Florida. I’m married with three kids (6, 16, and 18), 4 dogs, and some chickens. I'm Recently Retired and now Homeschooling, so right now I’m wrapping up summer while prepping curriculum and activities for the fall.

I started boxing classes last year and love them, even though I only get to go 1 to 2 times per week. We’re also regulars at the Y for cardio, weights, and swimming a few times a week. Most recently, I joined roller derby with my 18 year old, and I can’t skate at all! Luckily, they start with 6 weeks of skating lessons before moving into 6 weeks of game rules. I’m excited for the challenge but terrified of falling. It starts this Tuesday night, so i'll keep you updated!

Outside of fitness, we’ve been working on our little homestead. We sold our goats after clearing land, and now I’m focusing on landscaping and getting the garden ready for spring. If all goes well, we’ll also have a tilapia pond in the near future!

One thing I’ve realized: I was actually more productive when I was working, because I scheduled EVERYTHING. Now that I’m home, I find myself putting things off A LOT — and I’m trying to fix that (also one reason why i'm a returning member of this group).

I’m committing to cooking more meals at home, tracking my food, drinking more water, starting to track my steps and do strength training consistently. I’m determined to eat less fast food, high-calorie drinks and stop winging my weeks— I want to start planning workouts and sticking to a routine

I created my baby step goals and it's to start at 5,000 steps per day and increase by 1,000 steps every 2 weeks, so should be at 10,000 steps per day at about 12 weeks. Right now i'm only at about 1,000 - 2,000 these days.

Looking forward to being part of this group and sharing the journey with you all!

My weight goal is to have a loss every week this month.

My NSV is to workout at least 5 days each week.

@MommieJeannie roller derby? That looks like fun and scary at the same time! Keep us posted!

Today has been a relaxing day, but I did update the downstairs chalkboard 😊 I am waiting to see how long it will take my husband to notice 😂

    Question:

My scale goal will be to lose 4 pounds this month. I have a vacation mid month and want to be realistic.

My non-scale goal this month is to lift weights twice a week. I got out of the habit of lifting weights because I was focusing on jogging. I need to start that back up so I don't lose too much muscle as I lose weight.

    Hello everyone!

I am a 62 year old recently retired. I am still trying to figure out a schedule where I do all of the things I have been putting off for so long. There is a backlog of things to do and lots of excitement over all the other things I want to do.

I am trying to cook all of my own meals and not eating out. I have been yo-yo dieting, but now as a retired person, I want to find a way to come up a sustainable long term plan that doesn't involve yo-yo'ing back. So I am trying to lose one pound a week, which will take me a year to get to my goal weight. I started tracking my meals and my calories for the first time in August and so far it has been working well for me.

I recently discovered the section on My Fitness Pal where they calculate how many fruits and vegetables you eat. It isn't always accurate, but that is something I am enjoying doing. By increasing the variety in my diet, I am probably increasing my nutrition, but it also makes this weight loss thing fun. It feels like I am treating myself with a new veggie, especially the ones that cost a bit more. It is my reward and my motivation at the same time to keep going at it.

Good morning! I'm getting ready to get my workout done. Yesterday was a more intense one than I've been used to do today will be more mild.

I used to do 3 to 4 miles of Leslie Sansone walking workouts but then life happened and I slacked off. I'm slowly building back up to working out but know that I need to be realistic since my knees and I are older now.

@virgoreader great job listening to your body and taking it easy today! I had to do that yesterday as my back wasn't liking me after working in the garden.

Today was good, got a lot of steps in, but could have eaten better. I have my plan for breakfast and lunch tomorrow. I find it helps when I pre-plan my food for the day.
