Hello. Good grief. It is summer again. 95 this afternoon. I walked down the block to get my mail and nearly melted!

I am paying bills, cleaning out some old files and papers. Watching episodes of Foyle’s War. I have never watched it before.

    Be safe everyone.

🌞😀 I relaxed by riding my exercise bike for almost four hours after a productive morning that included a zoom meeting, two hours of walking, putting the ingredients for chicken with coconut milk and peanut butter in the slow cooker, laundry, vacuuming (it takes longer to pick up the toys, blankets, and pieces of junk too big for the vacuum than it does to run the vacuum), digging up more iris, and eating lunch (tomatoes from my garden with mayo and 3 ounces of chicken breast).

Happy Sunday! Today would have been our 34th wedding anniversary and with the 13 years before we got married a total of 47 years. Of course we were separated for 11 years but we mostly still saw each other and never divorced. I am going to go bring flowers to the cemetery and later go watch Max play soccer. I did not sleep well so I am tired today but will keep moving to stay awake. lol

Barbie, sounds like you did a lot of work yesterday. Do you stay on your recumbent bike for 4 hours straight? I can only do an hour before I start getting tired.

Lin, summer is back here also but only in the 80's. I wish I could get the ambition to clean out old files and other purging, I am so lazy.

Hi Jackie, how is George today?

    Have a good day.

Happy Sunday. George’s post op visit didn’t take long. The gauze cover on the incision was removed and I was given a peep into his mouth to see how his gums are slowly healing. Sandy, I hadn’t realised until I was given a chart showing George’s missing and extracted teeth, just how many dogs have. There is one large gap of 4 upper teeth removed but the others are spread out and I’m assured once his gums heal he won’t have a problem eating. Right now he doesn’t understand why I’m not giving him his favourite treats that are too chewy!
The bad news was he mustn’t be walked for the next 12 days because the position of the removed cyst on his shoulder means there would be high risk of opening up the area. So no walk on the moors. We return to the vet next Saturday for a final examination. In the afternoon the weather cheered up so I did some gardening while George sunned himself lying in the grass but today it has been raining constantly so even a trip into the garden wasn’t possible apart from a quick check on the hens. I’m going to have to dust off my exercise bike because not walking for nearly 2 weeks will be a disaster! I do have jobs lined up around the cottage but it’s not the same.

Tomorrow our electricity power is to be cut off for most of the day while repairs to telegraph poles and overhead cables are carried out. A couple of helicopters were overhead yesterday mapping everything in quite a large area but I’m hoping they won’t take the estimated 6 hours!

I wish I could be enjoying your warm temperatures!

    Take care and stay safe.

    Jackie 🥰

Hello….another day of heat. The air conditioner has been chugging along all afternoon.

A day of Zoom classes, but primarily I have been working on cards. Birthday, sympathy, get well and thinking of you. Need to make an updated list and I am so behind on Christmas cards I started one design but have abandoned it. Lots of fall birthdays coming up too.

Jackie, that is a long time to be without walk. Hang on George. Heal quickly dear boy.

Sandy, I am always very behind in purging papers. I don’t think I will ever be up to date.

    Barbie, you are ambitious! Excellent.

😪 Jackie, oh no, poor George and poor you—no walks on the moors for twelve days

😀 Sandy, I don't push myself on my recumbent exercise bike. It's pretty mellow exercise and I take breaks for a variety of reasons through the afternoon.

😀 Lin, Wow, that's a lot of different cards to be thinking about at the same time.

😱 I got the box from the post office yesterday for mailing the portion of Jake's ashes to his granddaughter in Ohio. The box came with packing tape, a special bag, bubble wrap and a booklet of instructions. I followed the directions carefully and will take the box to the post office tomorrow to mail.

Happy Monday! Max's soccer game was fun to watch even though they lost 1-0. Oh well, next time. Today I am catching up on doctor's appointments and bills, fun stuff. Weather is still beautiful.

Jackie, poor George, he will miss those walks for 12 days. Not only his walks but his treats, poor baby. Oh no, no electric, I hope it isn't off more than the six hours. You are busy enough outside gardening for exercise but your exercise bike will help.

Lin, we are still in summer weather also but I love it. I may and I say may try to get to the garage today but it is so hard for me to get rid of things. lol

Barbie, I am sure your granddaughter will appreciate all your care and concern in mailing her grandpa's ashes. Let us know if they arrive with any problems. So nice of you to do that for her.

    Have a good day everyone.

It never rains, but it pours! The chimney sweep was here earlier and discovered the stainless steel liner in my dining room chimney is breaking down and will have to be replaced. Something to do with the artificial anthracite fuel we burn in this country so, since it was only 5 years old, I will swap to logs. He did say that since the damage is now done I might as well use up what fuel I have stored until the replacement happens. George loves our blacksmith Robbie so sat next to him and watched as the brush was pushed up and down the chimneys. He has offered to adopt George should anything happen to me and is one of few people I know he would settle with.

Yesterday was frustrating because the power was off all day and there were lots of torrential downpours so I couldn’t settle to gardening. Luckily, I have a solar powered radio that lives in my greenhouse and brought it into the cottage so I could enjoy background music while sorting out more papers to be destroyed. I did drive to town for a few items from the supermarket and took George with me to let him out and walk on lead round the grassy area surrounding the car park.

I have been trying to order new walking shoes online from a specialist company in Scotland but the website keeps freezing so maybe I shouldn’t be buying them!

Enjoy your late summer and give the occasional thought to us in soggy England!

    Happy Tuesday.

Hello, finally, MFP let me return. I do not why I get to my dashboard and it shows my account but when I click on community, it says, I see you are new here.

Then it is a merry go round as to whether it will recognize my user id and password.

I didn’t have anything very interesting to add yesterday so you missed nothing. I did find a program to watch on Amazon Prime. It is “Highland Vet.” Beautiful Scottish scenery. I don’t know how many episodes there are but like the Yorkshire Vet, they have both a small animal and large animal practice.

Otherwise, I am sorting through my card making supplies for Christmas ideas. It is more difficult to decide with less functional hands. I would like to find something to make that just involves cutting paper pieces and then assembling them. I haven’t come up with anything yet.

Jackie, I am glad you let George come along when you went to the village and that he got a bit of a walk. Sorry for the house problems. Something that is perennially happening here.

Another hot day. But there is a promise of some rain later in the week.

    Take care.

Happy Tuesday! Well I caught a mouse in my trap during the night. Eww! I found droppings on my stove and my counter so I set a trap and caught the little bugger. I am afraid of mice but did feel bad when I saw his sad little eyes but I will continue to set traps to see if there are anymore. I am not sure how it got in but I did tell my landlord and he said it is unusual for them to come to second floor. I asked if he would check behind my stove and refrigerator and he said he would come Friday when they install my new windows. Hopefully, I only had one because the thought of a slew of them scares me. I can't get a cat because my DIL is allergic to them and visits often.

On a different note I am picking up my meds and more traps before sitting later today.

The time is getting away from me so I better get moving. Have a good day.

Happy Wednesday! Eww, caught two more mice during the night. I am freaked out! I asked my landlord about an exterminator and told him this shouldn't be my responsibility. He told me that flyers for an exterminator were coming in our halls today or tomorrow but I don't think I should have to pay for this. It is the landlord's responsibility to keep my unit safe and if there are any holes he should fix them. Now I am kind of sorry I didn't move but this is my first mice problem. Hopefully his son will understand and take care of this problem.

Nothing else going on, a me day so maybe once again I will tackle the garage. lol

Have a good day and stay mice free.

Oh Sandy, sorry about the rodents. I believe the landlord should provide the pest control.

Busy day with account balances and planning for 4th quarter expenses. Then I called a friend who had sent me a text about a trip to the doctor. Turns out she has not received any info on her x-ray. We did quite the chat with everything from A to Z and back again. We are officially caught up now.

Happy Thursday! Well, I caught two more mice for a total of 5. I told my landlord's son that I am ready to move with all this stress. I can't even sleep at night and I am possibly going out of town next week and am afraid mice will take over my condo. They really need to get an exterminator in here to fix this problem. Sorry to whine to you but I am so frustrated and sorry I didn't move. I have my meeting today and might possibly take a ride tonight to watch Max play soccer. It is kind of a long drive but will see how I feel later. I just don't like driving in the dark.

Enjoy your day, mice free!! lol

Sandy, it’s a shame we have the Atlantic between us, otherwise I would happily loan you my cat Brady! I would have thought your landlord should deal with this because you don’t even know how they are getting in do you. I do feel for you because even being used to dealing with mice the cat brings in, I would struggle to sleep at night!

A beautiful location for tea Lin. I’ve wandered round there on more than one occasion.

We are experiencing fog and rain again so George can’t even spend much time in the garden so is wondering why his life has changed so much. I did take him with me this afternoon when I drove into town for groceries, then walked him for 10 minutes on a quiet road. I made contact with a gardening business that has good reviews and the owner will visit next Tuesday to see what work I want carried out. Other than that, a quiet time and now midnight so time for bed.

    Stay safe.

Sandy, what suddenly changed that is providing a pathway into your apartment? They need to get a service in the building. And after an initial visit they need to make follow-up checks.

Jackie, poor George must be somewhat confused about his lack of exercise and interesting sniffing about. Sorry about the fog and rain. We had a few drops here but in this area, nothing measurable. Maybe tomorrow.

Today, I got one CD taken care of. I didn’t do a very good job, I took the first offer he gave me. I really wanted a longer term but they give me a bit of a rate boost due to the business I have with them and I guess I was afraid to push. Well maybe next time.

    Be safe everyone.

😀 Son and DIL arriving today from Oregon. They'll be here midday. I reminded them that I have no coffee or snacks so if they'll want anything, they'll have to bring it themselves (I gave them Jake's coffee maker when they were here last time). They'll be staying at an Airbnb not at my house but they can't check in until 3 PM. I'm looking forward to their visit. He wants to do chores for me so I have a list that includes a final clear out of the garage and splitting firewood for kindling.

🎵 No dancing today. My dancing friend is still on vacation in Michigan with her daughters.

Happy Friday! The landlord and his son came yesterday and plugged the hole behind my stove. They also brought sticky mouse traps. I put the sticky traps and my own traps down last night and no mice this morning. Yipee!! I will put them down for a while to be sure but happy right now. The installers are here taking out my old windows and putting in new windows. Very noisy but can't wait to see them when done.

Barbie, have fun with your son and DIL. If they are staying in an Airbnb they probably went and bought some food so should be fine. How nice he wants to do chores for you, send him my way when done. lol

Lin, not sure why the mice decided to enter into my second floor condo. Maybe because the weather is getting colder (not this week). One neighbor thinks the neighbor across from her might have mice but I am not sure and I don't know him to ask him. This is a privately owned condo so there is no service for the building. They didn't even want to call an exterminator because they said all they would do is put traps down and fix the hole like they did. I have a CD maturing in October and I just talked to my finance guy and told him I might need some of that money. He said it is your money so no problem.

Jackie, Brady would have been helpful but if he brought me a live mouse I would freak out!! My DIL is allergic to cats which is one reason I don't have one. I don't think Babe and I every had a mouse with the dogs, maybe mice just don't like other critters.

It's going to be a long day with these window guys and when done I have to put all my window treatment back up. I am going to an early morning assembly in the morning so have to leave by 7:45am.

    Have a good day.

    Hello! Weekend on the way.

Barbie, I hope you enjoy the visit and that the list of chores is whittled down to zero by the time they leave.

Sandy, mice are nefarious little critters. I lived in a couple of different old farm houses and they found ways to get in and ran about in the basement, first floor, and second floor. Argh. Finding every place where they could enter was a nightmare job. There was never just one spot. But that was a house, not an apartment. I hope the window guys get outta your space soon! Hope you get some rest tonight. You’ll be up early getting ready to leave on time. Going alone?

Well, nothing particularly interesting today, Zoom classes have been the highlight. Tomorrow includes another dance party! Looking forward to that.

    Wishing everyone happiness.

Good morning and happy Saturday. I was up and out early to take George for his last post op at the vet practice. It went very well and she was pleased with the way his incision is healing. Also his gums are much healthier already as they heal. I’ve discovered a 100% natural dog food he loves that his delicate tummy doesn’t react to so it’s all good news! My plan was to take him for a short walk on the moors but the rain arrived as we left the practice so again, we only managed a sniff and poo on the green outside the pet store where I stopped for cat food. It’s now torrential so I’m happy to stay in. England has a World Cup semi final women’s rugby match against France this afternoon so a good excuse to curl up on the sofa and relax!

Enjoy time with your visitors Barbie. Getting those chores completed is a great help and an opportunity perhaps to add a few more to the list!

Sandy, what a relief to get those pesky mice blocked. New windows too! How exciting and it certainly sounds like the Landlord’s son wants to properly maintain your building which hopefully settles any concerns you might have had. Years ago a mouse found its way into the roof space above my kitchen. It sounded like he was wearing hob nail boots up there! I was more agile then so put a ladder up to climb through the hatch and placed trays of poison on the cross beams. When I found the body I couldn’t believe how such a small creature made so much noise!

Lin, I haven’t come across the Highland Vets series so will do a search later to see if it is on one of our terrestrial channels. Anne and I are finally back in touch. This last break was my fault because we generally chat about what is going on in these British isles but it has become so depressing I live in a bubble! Have to be careful what I write too!! Anyway I’m sure we can jolly each other along!

    Stay safe everyone.

Hello. Another day of good Zoom classes. The dance celebration day was taught by a different instructor. She seems to be a highly trained dancer. More fun to watch than to try to dance along.

I saw some photos from the 90th birthday party of a friend. She doesn’t know anyone now but she did seem to like the cake. The party was today and they had a covered space with comfy looking chairs. Was surprised as she lives in a care facility and didn’t expect nice furniture given it stays outdoors.

I found a couple of things I would like to try for Christmas cards. Now to round up all the supplies to give it a go.

Jackie, I am glad George is doing well. Sorry about the continuing showers. Glad you found some food that agrees with him. Did you enjoy the sports?

🌻🌞😀 Son and DIL are at the Airbnb napping and relaxing. We had a great dinner in a lovely restaurant last night. I brought home leftovers. They arrived this morning with a box of pastries, a loaf of bakery bread, and a bouquet of zinnias. Son split and stacked a huge pile of firewood then sorted a ton of stuff in garage to either take home, take the around again recycle store, or throw away. It was sentimental and bittersweet because he was reminded of his dad and my dad with every item. After dropping things off at Around Again we took a drive through scenic areas followed by lunch in a restaurant they liked a lot. They’ll be back soon so we can go eat again.

🎶🤩 They got married last month. They dated in middle school before he moved away to live with Jake and me. In between he married once and had children in two relationships and she married twice and was widowed at age 40 left with seven sons to raise. Now they giggle and love referring to each other as husband and wife. I never thought he'd grow up this well. At 40 he drank a lot and argued about everything. I didn't want him in my house. Now he is the son everyone would like to have

Happy Sunday! I got a good night's sleep and feel good. I am helping Marisa move back into her mom's house this afternoon by letting them load up my car while I watch. Her management let her out of her lease because they received noise complaints from the people below her. Cheryl is hoping to buy something new but wants something she likes because Marisa will probably not stay with her forever. She is thinking an over 55 community but wants a yard for her dog. I hope they find something they both like.

Still no mice, so I am hoping I am mice free. I still will put those sticky traps out every night for a while especially when I go out of town in October to the casino with friends.

Barbie, so are you saying that between them she had 7 children and he had how many? I am presuming all the children are grown now and they can have a happily ever after marriage. Glad he turned his life around, I am sure you are as proud as I am of my son. Thank goodness for programs.

Lin, how nice they had a party for your 90 year old friend even if she doesn't know anyone. Somewhere deep inside she was smiling because of the kindness.

Jackie, so happy to hear George is on his way to a full recovery. Is he able to walk the moors now? They did leave a package of mice poisoning behind the stove but so far they haven't gotten through the plugged up hole so I hope they found some place else to go. Still closing bedroom door at night like that would stop them if they wanted to come in. lol

    Have a good day.

Happy Monday! Another good night's sleep. I went to Max's soccer game where they won their first game of 3 and he played so good. Then I went to Marisa's where they loaded my car and brought it to Cheryl's to unload. She has so much stuff and so much left to do which is one reason I didn't want to move. I have an dental cleaning today and then later to the kids to either bring Robby to karate or Rob will and I will stay home with the younger ones. Busy week with mani/pedi tomorrow plus a presentation free dinner at Coopers Hawk, Wednesday vacuuming for rug cleaner who is coming Thursday morning before my meeting and Friday the bug guy to spray for spiders and critters. He is fairly cheap and this is the first time I am using him but with all the windows open with the new installation I thought it might be a good idea. No mice so I am starting to feel confident they are gone even though I leave the sticky traps out at night.

Have a great day and hope you have a beautiful day as we do.

Happy Monday. It has been another sunny and warm day. George is doing really well and he has definitely got his mojo back! His groomer had to postpone his appointment today because her mother is in hospital with sepsis and being in her 90’s, it’s a dangerous situation. The hospital is over 30 miles away from home so she has managed to get accommodation just 10 minutes away to be on hand 24 hours a day. Driving into town this evening for a few groceries I was confronted by a bus driving too fast round a bend, mostly on my side of the road, and had to swerve away to avoid being hit, right next to a lamp post that hit my wing mirror. The bus didn’t even slow down as I heard the back of my mirror fly off and hit the road but there was nowhere to stop so I drove on, bought my shopping and stopped on the way home on a side road, then walked back to the post and there was the back of my mirror, luckily in one piece, in the grassy verge. A job for me tomorrow to hopefully stick it back on!

Well done Max and soccer team!

Another day of gardening tomorrow and at some point a gardener I contacted will pop in to see what heavier work I would like him to do. Right now I’m off to bed. 😴

    Keep safe.

Good evening. Another day of Zoom classes, picking up my refill Rx a day earlier than expected. I scheduled a Covid shot for tomorrow morning. Hoping this one does not put me down for a few days.

I have only received updates on one of my friends who had surgery today. All good news. The other person is having her procedures at a facility a few hours from here. I am assuming all went well or someone in the family would have started sending text messages.

Jackie, I am glad George is on the upswing. Yeah!! I am very sorry about the broken mirror. What a crazy driver!!
