@walkintofit - I’m convinced some things are genetic. Hope the meds agree with you. And good luck getting your social security sorted out and everything in place. @Sparkuvu - good to get some unbiased information.

@Dianedoessmiles1 - very nice that some cat supplies can go on your card!

@SweetPeasMom55 - your mom hiding things is a challenge for sure. My mom did a clever thing when everyone but my Grandma agreed she needed to give up driving. Her car went to the shop and never got fixed. My mom was lots happier driving Grandma to her numerous meetings, appointments, etc. Great meal planning! Wanna do mine? LOL

Very tired tonight, but husband and I made excellent progress on selling our rental house. The leased solar panels we have on it were only a minor complication solved with a phone call. I did get another day in the pool. Hoping to last till the end of the month if the water isn’t any colder than it does now. @Lopeyp - nice pic! We birdwatch from the pool, and occasionally see red shouldered hawks and even bald eagles.

Eve says it my fault she catnapped through treat time.

@Sparkuvu we just had the Sam ’s Club Chicken Pot Pie the other night with plenty of leftovers as well. And it cost less for the whole pie than it would have cost to grab food at a fast food joint (which "we" rarely do). It’s loaded with veggies and my DH was having a craving for it and it was quick and easy since I had spent much of the weekend meal-prepping for my breakfast/lunches for the week.

@SweetPeasMom55 Oh no! Did you ever find the keys?

@Lopeyp that’s so cool when you see wildlife while out hiking or walking!

Back road trip today. Saw a flock of wild turkeys, invited them to be our guest of honor at Thanksgiving..not one of them showed any interest!! No deer and the elk should start showing up soon. I love going into our lil country town instead of the big city.

Anyone else have an issue with the food record area today. I got some weird pixilated page , I know they are changing over to the new one which I think is great , So maybe just getting the bugs out right now?

Been a full day after a crazy week, ready to kick back and make like quiet for a while!

    Good nite y'al

Yes, I had trouble as well. It kept glitching and dividing my words into peices so of course it couldn't find those odd foods! Very annoying, hope it's bringing something better in its wake!

Best supplements to lower cholesterol: plant stanols and sterols (such as Beta Sistosterol, found in apricots, cantaloupe, carrots, kale and yams), Beta Glucans (fiber found in oats and mushrooms), Berberine (derived from goldenseal and Oregon grape), and Glucommanan (fiber in konjac root). That being said, the statins would probably cost you less money than supplements, especially if covered by insurance. Supplements are unregulated and can contain less of the active ingredient than is listed on the label, and can also be contaminated with heavy metals and other bad things.

Best exercise to raise HDL (good) cholesterol: high intensity interval training.

@walkintofit I took red yeast rice for several years and it did not bring my cholesterol down. However, diet and exercise did - my cholesterol is still high, but not as bad as previously and I still have to be on rosuvastatin (Crestor) because high cholesterol does run in my family, so genetics are involved for mine.

@micaroo4 those are some great suggestions!

@Ronnie_happy2ranch , good to know it doesn't work, I'm thinking mine is genetic also. i go back for testing late December. I was hoping to find something that works besides a scrip. I do exercise and keep my weight in check. Hdl is good, its the ldl and cholesterol is high.
Thanks micaroo4 for the infomation, dr did mention eating more veggies. Hopefully I can get it down by appt time.

Good suggestions, thanks, @micaroo4. @walkintofit - my MIL did everything healthy, everything right and still had high cholesterol. So does my husband who is active and hasn’t ever had weight issues. He does a lot of the things micaroo4 suggested, won’t take statins. I, who you’d think would, have never had cholesterol problems. Figure.

Yayyyy, a very successful day with my older friend. Finally, we were able to get her handicap hanging tag replaced, her Fla ID updated, AND her voter registration updated.

Did hubby lower his at all by using those tactics, @Sableness A friend lowered his substantially in 3 months by an almost no fat diet, but couldn't sustain eating that way. Hubby hates taking statins, makes his limbs hurt, but he doesnt do anything else to help with it. I did snap a photo, with HIS phone, of Mic's post 😉

Glad you got your friend 'fixed'. Enjoyed your pics of you and your friends.

    Whew! Keys, be found!

I don't think I could do a no fat diet. I should look at ways to lower it some. Not going a free for all diet though, want to prolong the enevitable. Working on lowering stress, hard when the job contributes to it greatly.

@All catching up after a few rough days. TY for always bearing with me.
@Sableness WOOHOO glad you were able to help your friend out, and it's done for awhile now. I have zero doubt she appreciates and loves you dearly.
@Sparkuvu It's hereditary in my family. No matter how healthy one eats. I'm admittedly a HORRIBLE eater, yet out of us, I have the least amount, though it's still high. I am on statins (If I did not have heart failure, I WOULD NOT be!). We hear so many horror stories from them. It's a choice by each person. Even if we love them a lot, and it can be so frustrating (Okay! LOL IT IS Frustrating) if one chooses to do something we wish they would not. I choose to lose weight, but a BBF at that time chose not to do the same. But, she made my life as hard as she could by making my favorite foods, or bring them over.
@walkintofit Stress is hard to deal with. There are a ton of suggestions online. Some find journaling helps, I always found walking helps (that is currently hard for me to do much of, but it's been my "go to" since I was a child). A productive way I use at times is "Angry Clean" LOL very productive. And trying not to help those who will not help themselves. Keeping toxic people away from me helps tremendously. When that is a family member, it's hard, at first. It gets easier. Family tends to be the ones who try to take us for granted the most.
@alphafitchick I agree with you!! For me to lose at my best, tracking my macros works the very best!! When I lost the 100 plus pounds, sometimes it meant only eating a tiny bit of something, and an odd bunch of meals, but I didn't care it was my choice. WTG because I know you've done wonderful!!

@Kurtize - love the Halloween nails!

I spent a chunk of the day on the phone, all productive but lengthy, as well as time and energy consuming. Had a long chat with my nephew, followed by somewhat of a business call with a fellow committee member from Meeting, and called a friend to see what we might do regarding concerns about an elderly Friend.

Another day in the pool. That water was not warm, but today was bright and sunny which made the pool more inviting. Next week we’re supposed to have an actual cold front so I know my days out there are limited.

@Dianedoessmiles1 - you’re so right about family. There was some major drama in mine last spring, and my sister and BIL are opting out of the holidays. I try to remain neutral territory, or be Switzerland as a friend says, which isn’t easy either.

The only good thing about it is we’ve grown closer to my nephew and family; he’s sort of become a son which is great since we have daughters. My really good news for the day is that he and his lovely family of wife and three kids are coming here for Thanksgiving. I plan to order most of the meal from Whole Foods and add whatever else we need or want since our niece and one great niece have a lot of things they don’t like. They’re about an hour and a half north of us which is a lot closer than our daughters in Washington state and Colorado. We’ll have a family zoom call sometime that afternoon.

@Kurtize Are people noticing them? I love sparkles!
@Sableness Oh YEAH!! We can pick our friends, but not family. Some are toxic!! In my family, there's only 1 I avoid at every cost, the rest I am okay with. On my mom's side, we have a huge family reunion every 2 years. I LOVE that thing!! About 30 to 50 will go for the week. But there is drama there also. I just avoid most of it. Most. LOL, I am glad you are close to your nephew and family. It'll be nice for you to have a gathering at your house. I have no doubt it'll be very good!!
@alphafitchick You are doing SO WELL!! At the end of the 56 days, will you give yourself some type of non food reward? Do you have another challenge in mind? What a fantastic goal!! Nicely done!
@Kurtize How's the weather shaping up for you? I NEED to take a picture of the tree in front of my place. We are in a severe drought, and our trees' leaves are sort of sad. This year they droop down. But the colors of rust and gold, which are not usual reds, oranges, bright yellow, and green, but still GORGEOUS!

More of a laid back day with an hour meeting today in person. That was nice. I saw people I hardly ever see, including a long time friend of over 40 years!! Such a gift.

@Dianedoessmiles1 - yes, very nice to reconnect with people you seldom see!

Husband and I had a delightful time at our local Greek festival. We went hungry at noon and had delicious meals. Husband had a generous combo plate, and I had a lamb shank dinner. I seldom get lamb, so it was a real treat, fall off the bone tender. We went to two Cook Like a Greek classes, one of our favorite things to do. I’m sure I walked off my meal doings lots of Christmas shopping. We even got in the pool. Maybe a few more days, and we’ll have to give it up.

@Sparkuvu - yes, his cholesterol still doesn’t make his doctor happy, but it did improve. He also takes various and sundry that have helped with his non diabetic neuropathy. Can’t cure it, but makes it easier to live with.

@walkintofit - sorry the job continues to be stressful; that’s wearing.

Son1 and grandson stopped by on their way through town, so nice to get more time with them. of course they wanted pizza, glad I had one ready to go. Maybe next time i will be retired and ready to roll with them! ya that is a dream for sure! I made them take some pictures. We haven't in a long time. Too bad I can't save some hugs and pull out one when I need one. Wouldn't that be awesome. the way it looks son1 won't be traveling until April, maybe of all maybe's I could drive there in Febuary or fly down for a visit.

It is hard to ditch the stress, I think I have been conditioned to it for the last few years, I don't want to be in need of stress like that. I think it would be alright is the big decision of the day is whats for dinner instead of who needs what and what needs fixed next. New boss is trying to make serious changes , funny part is we tried some of this a few years ago and it didn't work but went back to the usual way of doing business. But ok whatever she wants, not my show and not my monkeys.. I know i'm most likely jaded to a certain degree but I have been doing this job for over 20 years and just quit trying to reinvent the wheel!

@alphafitchick - Hope MFP straightens up and acts right. I lost a whole catch up post on my team’s chat. I hit Post, and POOF, gone. Grrr

@walkingofit - lol, are your son and grandson related to my nephew and family? We’ve ordered pizza often enough when visiting that the youngest, about to turn eight, snuggles up and wants to know if we’re getting pizza. She has big blue eyes that really enhance her begging skills! “Not my show, not my monkeys” is a good reminder to let things roll off you when you need to. For many years, I was a paid singer in church choirs, and particularly with one choir director, I’d tell myself, “I’m not being paid to like this piece of music; I’m being paid to do it well.” Sometimes a piece would grow on me, sometimes not. “Amazing Grace” plus bagpipes never did float my boat. That was a Presbyterian church. In the Episcopal church, I loved doing the Great Litany and the Exultet, long unaccompanied chants. I enjoyed the challenge of making them expressive and interesting sung stories, not boring. I was the first woman to do them in two churches.

Must get going. My Sunday mornings now include picking up two people for Meeting: my wheelchair bound friend from her AL and a male friend on my way to help with her wheelchair.
