Most of the nor'easter is going off to our south. New Hampshire and Maine will get some rain, but not as much. The Cape and the islands will get the deluge, with high winds and coastal flooding. Unfortunately, that's where I'm scheduled to be for vacation 🙃

U can say I was relieved! glad we can stay connected this round here. maybe next time I can get back on our team.

@walkintofit - good news for your BIL if he was stable enough to go home. I’ve never been particularly active on the general chat but am enjoying it.

After yesterday’s exhausting and unproductive excursions, I’ve pretty much had a resty day. I went to a Salvation Army flea market and to Aldi’s in hopes that holiday eggnog wine might be in. I bought a small sewing box at the flea market and other groceries but no wine at Aldi’s. I fixed pumpkin sage ravioli with butternut sauce topped with feta for dinner. Husband fixed salads with organic farm produce. We’ve been having some especially tasty red grapes for desserts. Eve does not approve of our frequent vegetarian meals. She’s a little carnivore through and through.

If it had been sunny or less windy, I’d have braved the pool. Husband went out and came right back in!

Sorry, I didn't check in yesterday. There will be days it'll be hard to do so. As we get ready for the Fall Challenge to begin TOMORROW, I get quite busy. Plus, yesterday I attended a potluck dinner, which was very, very good!! It's where I live (in a high-rise). We have a few retired chefs who live here, and believe me, they have not lost their touch! YUMMY!!! I am used to these, yesterday I even tried a dish full of veggies (I am not a veggie lover), it was okay, well it was good, but I'll not make it myself. I am sure I was under calories. I do not go all in on eating; I stay very modest. I am there to fool around and help others laugh. LOL and YEAH, we had a lot of laughter. I stayed pretty late with the gals as they did the cleaning. A few of us goofed off with them.
@walkintofit Glad to hear your brother is out of the hospital. Hopefully, they helped him with CHF. I have it, and it's not ever an easy balance or illness. I am glad you got out to walk in the warm air.
@alphafitchick SUPER CONGRATS on the bloodwork coming back well! You work very hard, and it shows. WTG! IT'S a wonderful NSV (Non Scale Victory).
@Patti241 I hope not to much rain? We are expecting some on Monday, but with this storm, they can't really tell. In Southern Coastal Maine, as you know, they are saying showers. Time will tell. I like showers better than a hard rain. It goes into the ground and runs off.
@Ronnie_happy2ranch Oh, we are keeping an eye on it, but as above to Patti, time will tell!! How is the CO weather? Aren't you higher up in the mountains?
@katiecondy1 LOLOL today I stepped on the scale and wanted to record it!! Tomorrow I'll have to remember to go outside for at least 10 minutes. I rarely go outside now; that is so strange to me. I used to love being outside. I'll have to bundle up!! It's getting cold. How about you? OH MAN!! Felix creates CHAOS wherever he goes!! LOL I get to laughing way too hard at his antics to get food at 5:04 AM!! HUH? AM???? TO those who may not be familiar with Felix, I see him on both Facebook and YouTube. I am sure if I search, I'll find him among the others, also. It's under Felixbellawillow is in United Kingdom. If you are curious and want to laugh. Katie, he makes Oscar look like a PRINCE!! Actually, LOL Oscar is really a good, good boy.
@nbruns83 So sorry you lost both parents. Sounds like due to CHF? I thought that was the way my Dad would go (After 8 heart attacks along with CHF). Instead, it was from an infection and a broken heart. I hope you got out for a walk today. Smart to not be on the roads with the trucks. PHEW, the beet gathering is over, you can enjoy the peace.
@Sableness LOL, I could picture you and your friend getting the ice cream. It made me giggle and smile. The silly times are awesome to enjoy!! Are you all going to watch on Monday on CBS at 8 (EDT), DMV? I think that show will be a RIOT if they do it right!! I hope they do!! We could all use the laughter. The commerial shows an elderly lady doing a drivers test, and knocking over most if not all of the cones (???) over. The person testing her SLAMS on the brakes, and the older person asks, "Did I pass?" I burst out laughing quite hard. Hopefully, when you both go again, she can get what she is going for.
@micaroo4 EKKK on the timing of your vacation!! I am on the coast of Maine, outside of Portland. We are hoping for rain. Will you be on the ocean? A friend went today and said the waves are already starting to pick up some. I love watching the waves when they are crazy, as long as I am safe. We rented a place on Old Orchard Beach last December, hoping a storm would hit hard. LOL LESSON learned, next time wait until we know there's a storm coming and rent at that time!! But it was still gorgeous. I hope you can still enjoy your vacation.

Brother and sil are very tired from the hospital ordeal. I hope they can get some good rest this weekend.
I need to start some Christmas shopping, and they are hard to buy for. ex; diet restrictions, and they buy whatever they need. Anybody have any ideas?

We have had rain and more rain. I still have a couple chores to do outside before buttoning up the outdoor equipment. the cooler needs drained and covered and the lawnmower covered up too. The leaves haven't fallen yet so there is that chore to do. My pellet stove gave up and now I need to find another heat source. I do have gas heat for the house but I really got used to the pellet stove for those cold winter nights. Lots of ideas but no muscle to help me out right now.

@ Dianedoessmiles1 I am just NW of Denver, so not in the high country. We had sunny nice weather for most of the weekend on the eastern side of the state. However, the whole southwest and western side of the state was (and continues to) having massive flooding over the weekend. Many, many people have been ordered to evacuate. The heavy rainfall is from the remnants of tropical storms Priscilla and Raymond on the west coast; I would not have believed it had I not seen the video on the news! Arizona and New Mexico are affected by the deluge as well.

Hello everyone! I am so behind as I am learning how to navigate this whole thing. But I am glad to be here. We went on an impromptu trip to see the fall leaves last week in the Smokey Mountains and I walked and walked. We were walking 7 miles a day, which is a whole lot for me!!! I am tired this week but I am back home and able to be working on my habits again. I am walking for exercise but have not done any strength training since I got back, but I will soon I just feel tired. Glad to be finding my way on the team!!

@walkintofit I hope your brother and SIL can rest up. It's hard to buy a gift for others, especially as they age and have the things they need. Do you know if they have a favorite restaurant or place they shop? I used to think giving Gift Cards "was lazy", but now I realize they are great!! People get to choose what they like. Pellet stoves give off a nice heat!! A friend had one, and a nephew does. If I had my own house, I'd easily have one also. Though now I would have a system where it feeds itself, and I'd not have to lug in any bags. LOL, I can see it in my mind now. Actually, it would be awesome to have. In our high rise we are regulated on the type of heaters we can bring in and use, LOL, the answer is NO "use the one we provide." but it gives out fantastic heat. I face the water; the west wind can be brutal. I am not cold here! I like a cooler bedroom, but have a heated mattress pad. BEST thing I've gotten for the bedroom in a bit.
@alphafitchick WOOHOO!!! Wishing you well on the Impact Statements!! When we first started to talk it over, I started to think of what I'd like on mine. I am pleased with the way it turned out. I wish you the best, and TY TY TY TY for putting time into it. That was something we hoped most would do. It can only benefit each of us if we do.
@Kurtize I hope your niece will be okay, and others, of course, also. I saw pictures from NJ and MA, where along the ocean is quite a mess. When a storm hits Maine and the ocean is wild, most of us look at Camp Ellis and Old Orchard along with Portland along Commercial Street (Wharf areas).
@Patti241 HI Patti!! Hope your day went well!
@micaroo4 Excellent job!!! TY TY TY TY I can see you also put time and thought into it. Its been interesting and encouraging to read these! TY ALL!
@Ronnie_happy2ranch THANKS!! CO is gorgeous!! The mountains, I fell in love with them even as we approached Denver on the plane!! That feeling remains. LOL, Aurora was NOT Maine, Denver is much busier than my poor brain was used to. We are laid back here, but I loved it out there. I've seen some of the flooding. It's horrifying!! I can't imagine having my home wiped out in an area where it would not be expected. It's one thing when people build right on the ocean; it's been known for years that it's a risk, but all of these other areas. Glad you are safe.
@TrimHealthyTerri Please feel free to ask any questions to help you navigate the site. We are happy to be of help, and WELCOME!! Oh, I am sure the Smoky Mountains are STUNNING!!! WOW Nice amount of walking!! WTG!!!

@Dianedoesmiles1, I do have a heated mattress pad, love it, I like it better than a heated blanket. A friend came over and helped me get the cover on the cooler. I need to put on some velcro on the inside cover to finish the job. the cooler is on the south side of the house and it gets cold.
Had ice on the car windshield.. ya winter is coming.

I'm missing my team that I was on for four years, not even sure if I am going to stay.. So many changes for me this year. friends moved, job is changing, new team here, new guy friend. Never thought I would be dating at my age. Some of it is fun. One good thing is I have lost 8% this summer.. weight is bouncing around now, hopefully it will stablize this challenge. Getting the rest of my wellness exam tests done this week, mamo and bone density. It should be fine. Its always a little scary thinking they might find something.

@alphafitchick Excellent job! TY so much for doing your impact statements. I'm going to print mine out and hang it up near an area I'm at often. I'll be able to review it several times a day.

@walkintofit I agree with youthe heated blanket isn't nearly as nice as the heated mattress pad. I had tried many heated blankets they never fully worked well. You have had many changes. I'm so sorry for the hard parts. Cool, really neat on a new relationship. Also WOW! on the weight loss! I'll encourage you to please stay with the current team. Are you in contact with the team members you miss? I had been with the same team for the most part 15 years. This challenge I'm also as you are with a different team. It's strange to be a different team, but it's an opportunity for me also. I do stay in touch with a few of the members I've been friends with through email on MFP etc. Would this help you? At the end of this challenge immediately sign up for your usual team.

@walkintofit - hang in there; we want you back! I agree with Diane; gift cards are great options. Amazon cards are nice because you can get practically anything you want.

@Ronnie_happy2ranch - my daughter is also NW of Denver, and I’m grateful that area isn’t affected by flooding. She’s a stone’s throw from the mountains with a gorgeous winter view of them once the leaves come down.

From this morning’s walk: roosting ibis in an oak, nosy squirrel, cypress knees, wildflowers

@Sableness TY TY TY TY for reaching out here to @walkintofit I sure hope she stays with us. I saw a squirrel today, but s/he may have been ill. It was very skinny, this time of year, the only time they all are is if we are going to have a very warm winter, and WE MIGHT!! I'll make a note of it for tomorrow, and go to the park. It's only across the street. My Dad taught me eons ago, in the 2nd and 3rd week of October, look at a bunch of squirrels, if they are fat, it'll be a hard winter, if they are thin, it won't be. This very rarely fails. Actually, I do not remember it ever failing, and I do it every year.

Interesting about the squirrels. My daughter sent me this one and said the squirrels in Lincoln Park in Seattle are the fattest she’s seen. He does look quite plump!

@Sableness Ohh yeah, he's a chubby one alright!! I wonder how some of the others are, and average it out. I know they are "rodents" but, look how CUTE they are!! And when they eat standing on their hind paws, they are so cute!!!
    @Kurtize WOOHOO Great walking!
@alphafitchick Did you enjoy the workout at the gym? I feel slightly better than yesterday. I am hoping to walk over to the park (literally across the street) and check out the squirrels! Enjoy the day off!!! Yesterday was a minor holiday, but the grocery store looked so busy!
@walkintofit I hope the appointments go well. My heart specialist is monitoring my cholesterol and has added in meds for it. I went in on Monday all of the numbers are perfect!! I love it when a Dr gets it all right. They've not been well for a while; it runs heavily in my family. I do monitor what I eat. I am careful and have been for years with fats (and more). Wishing you the best!

@Dianedoessmiles1 I will check out the squirrels this week at moms. Mom has a bird feeder. Everything is usually chunky.

Little nervous for my road trip with daughter . Mainly because of weather. Snow is my fear as we will be only 25 minutes to Canadian border. Fingers crossed the first snow waits for November. I can't wait to spend time with my daughter.

@SweetPeasMom55 enjoy the travel with your daughter! It's been a while since you two go together! I, too dislike driving in the snow and I would be absolutely fine with no snow or ice for the whole winter! They can keep it in the mountains!

@Sableness and @Dianedoessmiles1We have a neighbor on the block behind us and two doors down who feeds the squirrels and any other wildlife that comes by. This past summer, he even had a flock (it's a flock when they're wild; a rafter when they're domestic - I just learned that myself) of turkeys roaming his front yard. It's actually illegal in our state to feed the wildlife and, of course, his squirrel feeding led to us losing the majority of our peaches to the little nuggets this summer since they have to go along our fence to get to his yard. 🙄
