Happy Sunday and pre-challenge week. I picked up my friend at her AL to go to Meeting. She’s always so pleased to see other elderly Friends.

I’m glad we went in the pool earlier than usual because as we got out, a storm moved in. We got some needed rain, but the bulk of it went around us.

My practice week Healthy Habit is POP, doing Put Off Projects. I made part of dinner from things in the pantry that needed using and cleaned out Eve’s toy basket.

@Sableness Aww, the office cats sound pretty AWESOME!! LOL, they are QUICK if they are food motivated!! Oscar is extremely food motivated, but his poor little 2 brain cells do not always operate. GLAD to hear Eve is back to herself!! Good girl!! Sweet kitty. YUMMY Greek food!! OH YEAH! TY TY for helping your friend to see her friends. That is touching. I like your POP for the HH. I guess it's time to think of a meaningful one. Last HH was getting to bed on time. That is now a HABIT, and many nights I am in bed, and zzz before my scheduled time. Ohhhhh I know what it'll be "Mindfulness" which encompasses many aspects of life, including a newly acquired taking care of myself, by being careful of my regular routine, and things that stress me out. My health is better as everyone's is without stress.
@Kurtize GOOD for you!! It's nice to have a real "me day". Glad you enjoyed it. ENJOY the first week of practice.
@DNjoys LOL TWO times yesterday I had to STOP myself first from weighing in the morning and putting it down, and later, early evening LOL Entering my exercise. OLD HABITS are hard to die, but yes, as you said, we will adjust soon. AND GOOOO ALL TEAMS!! May we have success on different parts of the 5% Challenge, which is why it's the success it is! TY TY For being a leader with us!
@alphafitchick AND THE DAY IS HERE!! WOOHOO!!! Now, for the weather to realize 85 is not "cool" Like that? Not "cool" Hehehehe!! We hit 80 today; our average high is 64, and our average low is 46.

@alphafitchick I like that!! Mind Dump!! At first, it made me giggle, and I went, "Ohhhh, that's a great description!"
@Patti241 Good day. Did you enjoy the weekend?
Today was both a busy day and a resting day. HUH? My cleaning person was here this AM. She is amazing!! Had laundry done, and place cleaned in 2 1/2 hours!! It looks so nice. Somehow that tires me out though!! The rest of the day, I called a woman I call weekly who's a shut in. It's through an agency I volunteer for. The client wins, and I do also. I likely get more out of it. There's something about volunteering that is a feel good vibe!! Of course, here on MFP, I also get that same feeling. NO WONDAH life is as good as it is.

@Dianedoessmiles1 - yes, volunteering is good for all concerned! ♥️

Busy day 2 of pre-challenge week. I had a very minor dentist appointment, dropped off a sample at the vet, and took my blown glass Halloween tree to my doctor’s office just down the road from the vet. The office staff go all out on decorating, and I’m sure they’ll love the blown glass tree. I decided to pass it a long after cleaning out more fall decor. I stopped at three stores on the way home and remembered everything I needed! Went in the pool before dinner. Must get in as many days as possible this month before the water gets to chilly for this Florida wimp.

@Sableness, oops, I'd forgotten that I'd posted here. I enjoyed the photo of your elderly friends at the Meeting; that 96 year old is inspiring - what a smile!

We took our feral cat mother to the vet for her booster vaccines last Friday. She was scared on the way into town, fine at the office, but on the way home, she had an "accident" in the carrier and it freaked her out. I wish vets made house calls. I don't know how we'll ever get her kittens to the vet when we've only been able to touch one. I don't want them going rogue and adding to the numbers of feral cats. I guess it's a "wait and see" situation, we can't control at this moment.

@walkintofit, if you're doing the practice week with your new team, I hope you're getting acquainted with new challengers. All the best.

@nbruns83 - well, that’s one cat managed. Hopefully you’ll be able to get the kittens done. We’re fortunate here to have some good vet choices. The only one I know of who comes to your home is Lap of Love Hospice. Hmm. I just found a mobile vet service; didn’t know we had one.

@Sableness OOPS I guess Monday I got busy and OOPS! Here it is already Weds!! I actually thought it was Thurs. On Weds, I join friends on Zoom for a different volunteer work I do. I was downstairs thinking it was Thurs when someone mentioned, "It's only Weds." I burst out laughing, and quickly got onto Zoom in time. That was sweet of you to drop off the tree at the vets as a donation. Is the pool at home or one you visit elsewhere? We used to go to a hotel locally. It was so nice and warm!! But once the local swimmers discovered it (it was only a $ 300 a year membership, open anytime, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year), they took over. They also demanded that the water be so cold that the rest of us no longer went. How is Eve? Oscar and Izzy are well.
@alphafitchick That was very nice of you yesterday to switch with your coworker. Great job taking care of yourself by being cautious not to create more pain. TY!
@patti24 HI Patti, we finally had rain, did you? They are saying a possible big storm is coming up the East Coast, we will see. We could use the rain, BUT!! Not a nor'easter this early. With most trees still having leaves on them, the power is more apt to go out. Thankfully, Central Maine Power has been busy putting new transformers around Maine. LOLOL anything to UP the bill that much more!!
@nbruns83 Are there any rescues in your area or the surrounding area that may come out to your house to help out? Like with over the past few years, many vets now do house visits, some even do only house calls. The rescues, though, a friend of mine who lived not in the cities around me, the rescue would go out to her house and help. She maintained a colony of feral kitties, making sure they did not have kittens.
@Ronnie_happy2ranch Is the garden all done for the year? Up here, most are.

@Dianedoessmiles1 - haha, so easy to get your days mixed up when you’re really busy! Glad your kitties are well. Eve’s kidney values weren’t great, so the vet offered several ideas regarding food and supplements. She’s so small, eats many little meals through the day, gets bored with her food very easily, and is a picky eater, so we’ll see what might work. I think the supplement will work, just add to food. The kidney care foods are returnable if Her Highness won’t eat them. I’m guessing we’ll probably be able to mix some with her preferred foods, but I’m doubtful that we can switch her wholly to one food. You know who’s in charge here!

The pool is above ground. This is its fifth year and final year; we’ll replace it in the spring. Still, five years in Florida sun is pretty good. I have two gyms with pools that are options for winter when the water’s too cool for this Florida wimp, and we have loads of lovely parks for when it’s not so HOT.

Good Thursday Morning and Happy Day 5 of Practice Week VIP Friends, Later than normal post for me since I went early to get fasted labs drawn. Yesterday I got my flu shot so I'm good for this season. It was a couple years back I started drinking a 16oz bottle of water in the morning before getting labs drawn and that turned into a part of my morning routine. Normally I add some pre-workout, fat burner and creatine to my water but waited until I got home and am drinking that now before drinking my water.

Diane, your description of Oscar’s poor two little brain cells made me laugh and reminded me of our old Sebastian kitty. We always said what little brain he had was in his tail because it was smarter than the rest of him and always got the better of him. It was hysterically funny to watch him rolling around and trying to catch his tail to give it a wash. The tail usually won! I had chosen his big beautiful and loudly purring sister, a magnificent longhaired calico, but the shelter person said he was her littermate and had always been together; that’s how we first became a multi-cat household.

@Dianedoessmiles1 Garden is just about done; I will likely do the last harvesting this weekend and then we'll probably work on dismantling next weekend. We still have the pool up and running and the DH covered it with a shade shelter so we can still use it to watch football and hockey for the next couple of weeks. We will likely close it completely before the end of the month though.

@alphafitchick it's always a good idea to hydrate a lot before lab and vaccinations as well! Good thinking on your part!

@Sableness I love the cat stories! I wish we could have another one! Our old girl was 22 when she passed. I ended up allergic to animals toward her later years, so we've never gotten another one.

@Ronnie_happy2ranch - thank you! I grew up with dogs, but we’ve had cats since our girls were little. Wow, twenty two! That’s a long kitty life. We had one who lived to be over twenty, never were sure exactly how old she was. This was the last picture I took of her; I caught the little rascal on the table beside my chair helping herself to my mug.

@Sableness LOL the BEASTS are always in control of it ALL!! LOL, I follow a cat on Facebook, etc. Felix, ohhhh I thought Oscar was full of it, Felix is OVER THE TOP!! I get laughing way too hard at the antics!!! Eve is a prestige kitty!! Hopefully, she'll adjust, though they do not always, yet, if it's the only food available, she'll have no choice. A friend has a blue point Himalayan. That cat has her in tears MANY TIMES!! She did not want to be on a healthy food from the vets, but my friend, for once, stayed strong. That is what Zoe eats now, and out of no choice, even begs for it. I had to switch Princess (years ago) over to a vet prescribed food; the vet agreed I'd do it gradually. That worked well. When I had to change her litter to pellets, well!! YO!! But she adjusted also. YO! The things we do for these beasts. LOL As I am throwing treats around the food room, watching him have to "hunt" them down. Always makes me giggle. LOL I'd of gotten a HUGE kick out of Sebastian!! I have a video of Oscar, though he was younger, chasing his tail on YouTube. The other night I heard him in the bathroom chasing it. They are so cute!! Oh, his sister sounds elegant!!
@walkintofit I hope your brother will be okay.
@alphafitchick I hope your blood test comes out well! I still haven't gotten my flu shot, but I WILL!! TY for the reminder.
@Ronnie_happy2ranch We have a freeze warning here on the coast tonight. Hopefully, everyone got what they wanted. My Mom would, at times, let a few things go longer, but only for a few days. Our garden was pretty big. Especially being "in the city," though it was the rural part of the cit,y if there is such a thing.

@walkintofit, I'm so sorry you have to go through this with your brother, after the years of caring for Dan. I'm sorry, too, for your sister-in-law, and of course, for your brother and his past and current suffering. My mother died three years before my dad, and as he failed, I often prayed, "I can't go through this again." I'm not sure if it was fortunate or unfortunate, but Mom's ordeal was six years, and Daddy's was several months. Neither was easy. I so wish you didn't have to experience this so soon.🙏

I hope your walk in the warm sunshine helped to life you up a bit. I took a break because they were hauling beets all morning on our road, and those trucks are loud and dangerous. Luckily they finished today so I should be able to go out in tomorrow's wind and possible rain.😏

@walkintofit, @nbruns83 - so hard whether dealing with a long decline or a swift shock. Prayers for you and your family. I hope the doctors can find a workable balance for your BIL on the dehydration and fluids. Hope you got your walk; getting outside is always good for the soul. Good for you, Nancy! I missed out on the pool today.

@alphafitchick - glad your bloodwork was good. I appreciate it when you get the results so quickly. I do the same before blood draws, blood donation, and vaccines; drink LOTS of water and arrive well hydrated—and be ready to dash to the restroom when it’s done!

@ronnie_happy2ranch - I’m in Florida, and our above ground is pool is still in use too. We usually give up by the end of October or early November depending on the weather. This year we’re really giving up because our five year old pool is showing serious wear, and we plan to replace it by spring. Florida sun is not kind to things. I was really sorry to miss today, but my body was screaming NAP!

My friend and I spent far too long on her ID card and handicapped tag and came home with neither. The good things about today were each other’s company and outstanding ice cream cones from one of this area’s oldest ice cream shops. My cone cracked, and we made serious childlike messes with ice cream on our noses and drips on our clothes. We required a good bit of cleaning up! We must remember the scoops are enormous, and that ONE scoop is ample! I took a two hour nap when I finally got home, and I’m sure she did too. We have another appointment at the DMV in two weeks, and I’ve been my persistent best at ensuring the cooperation of her Assisted Living.
