Good morning. I had a great weekend. We drove up to Spring Hill to visit nephew and family. The oldest is thirteen, so much fun watching him grow up. He’s now a bit taller than I am, wider since our last visit, and his voice has a hint of change to come.

Yesterday I picked up my dear friend from her AL to attend Meeting. I’m so grateful that we reconnected last spring. Our Quaker Meeting is settling into a new meeting place, and our oldest folks are so enjoying seeing one another in person instead of on Zoom. This beautiful smiling lady just celebrated her 96th birthday. The lady in the wheelchair chair is my friend greeting another 96yo.

    IMG_1703.jpeg

After Meeting, we had Meeting for Worship with attention to Business. Quaker business meetings are like none I’ve ever experienced. There’s no voting, no one faction’s agenda against another; matters move forward only with full consensus. That means everyone, not just a majority. If consensus can’t be reached, the issue is worked on together and reworked till everyone can support it. An individual in disagreement can choose to stand aside, making their position known that they aren’t in agreement but won’t stand in the of the Meeting moving forward.

I’m savoring my coffee with a cat at my feet. Eve is sure it must be treat time already. She’s a small black polydactyl kitty, 16 like Diane’s Izzy and just over 7 lbs. We have a vet appointment on Friday, and I’m looking forward to her 24 claws getting trimmed. She will tolerate us doing it, but I prefer to let the vet techs be the bad guys. This is Eve’s where’s my treats face. There are three thumbs on that mitten. Even her back feet have an extra toe.

@slstover35 Does it look like you'll get any beneficial rain from the hurricane? Yet, not too much!
@alphafitchick OH COOL on the Chiefs!! I have a brother in Kansas, he'll cheer them on also, and the PATS! The Chiefs have been outstanding!! WOOHOO!! Can they get in again this year? Do you think so? I HOPE SO!! Well, it would be nice if the Pats at least got a WILD CARD, but hey, they aren't doing too badly so far!!! GREAT JOB on getting in your steps during the game!! WOOHOO!!
@Sableness I both love watching the kids growing up and the changes they go through. It just happens WAY TOO FAST in my book!! Zoom is such a blessing for many reasons, even our older ones can use it (sometimes LOL It takes that walk them through phone call, but they'll do it!). These ladies look so kind and adorable!! WOW 96!!! YO!!! Our oldest friend is 90, her memory is sliding, but she's still one very classy lady!! I love the order of what you guys do, the peace without arguing. We do the same through a different organization/religion. I love the non drama of making decisions. For us, we will have a brief discussion and raise our hand if we agree, after then raise our hand if we disagree. In my 50 years, it's rare for there to be disagreement. It's presented very well. That helps. If only more people could get along. I do not care for drama. Awww LOOK at that SWEET Baby girl Eve!! Aww, and those FEET!! Oh, those beautiful feet!!
@Kurtize How did your Monday go? I hope well!!
Today we hit 81, LOL COME ON WINTAH!!! LOL OH, PLEASE COME SOON!! Hehehehe

@slstover35 I'm glad the hurricane didn't take a direct hit on you all!! That was scary when they thought it would. Weirdly, I know quite a few who live in both NC and SC. Many from Maine resettled down there during covid, and a friend's family in the 80s. Thankfully, most Mainers who came down there are not to change anything, and most are of modest income. Up here, as in many areas during covid, people from CT, NY, especially MA, purchased houses at an alarming cost!! Most Mainers can not afford to live in the city I live in or any around Portland (Maine). Its hard to see younger members of my family not being able to afford homes here. I am glad though, you got rain!! We were hoping for it to come up here, but yeah, out to sea. We are in a drought.
@alphafitchick MFP today is having issues!! None of us could get into the community through the app on our phones or tablets. Likely, they are doing an update, and we should be able to soon. How do you like the new tablet? Hehehe playing with it while on your walk, I GET THAT!! I have some FOOLISH games that will keep me busy for an EON of time if I let them!!
@HealthyBarb1 @Ceriusly1 Definitely MFP. I had the same issue with my phone app. Hopefully it'll be well soon!! As of 10 PM Eastern time zone, I'm not able to.
@Kurtize Can you please send some rain out to the East Coast? Please? HI Joyce!!

@slstover35 This time of year is gorgeous!! It's so weird, we'll go around Maine and New Hampshire, but every time on the way home, the main street I live on is always the prettiest to me. We always laugh and agree, "Why go away when we have it all here?" I hope your day went well.
@Ceriusly1 Indeed, the browser works very well. LOL Is this where I put "But, I can't remember my password." LOL!! OH, it's written down, I just got too lazy and decided I'd use the computer. On the app, it is automatically signing in. Now THAT is lazy.

@alphafitchick Our temp today was fantastic at 61, with tonight our low being 42. EKKKKK Sat through Tues in the 70s, and maybe high 70s. But I want it only cold out. Aww, I didn't know you fed the outside cats. Are these yours or some that live in the area? Years ago, a friend and I lived 6 blocks from where I do now. We both had kitties (I had 2, she had 1), hers was an indoor/outdoor kitty. He used to come home STINKING TO HIGH HEAVEN!! Of DEAD FISH!! We were a block from the wharf. One day, we were out for a walk, going past the wharf, when her cat came running to us. We were patting him (HOLDING our noses! LOL), a gentleman came over, "I KNEW that cat was not homeless, but he shows up with them all when it's feeding time." LOLOL That little BEGGAR!! He asked if he could feed him; who can stop a cat from eating? NO ONE!! That little tuxedo had a very interesting life!!

ahhh finally able to sit down for a bit. The past week or two has been crazy. First my Lab , Molly, tore a toenail so badly that the toe had to be taken off, so that has meant trips to town every 3rd day for dressing changes. I could do them but then if there were an issue I would have to make an appointment or sit outside for my turn at the "emergency clinic" they do several days a week. Our vets are overloaded here and it is hard to get in unless you go to a neighboring town to the very high dollar Emergency Clinic there. So off to town all too often. Anyone that knows me knows how much I just "love" to go to town! Then my youngest son came to live with me. He has been out of the area for some years and is needing to get re-established. So extra hours in town for various meetings and such since he does not have a car. He had been in one of the larger neighboring towns but could not find a place to rent that was reasonable. So we are trying this for a time, huge change for me and I suppose for him as well. So far it has been ok, just too much town is my biggest problem. Looking forward to the new challenge and really glad the start was moved to Sunday, that was a good idea for sure. I have been using the "new" food tool to chart and follow my food -I like it as well. You get instant feed back on what you are eating , values of foods , etc. It is much more comprehensive than the older charting was. I like also that you can choose your items to track , I often change up between sodium which I watch carefully and fats. I actually do not get enough "good" fat in my eating so trying to round that out a bit. Now it is once again nearly time to tuck the pups in and get me ready for a good nites sleep as well.

    I am sleepy now..good night...kitten.jpg

Busy morning already. Eve has had her checkup at the vet and got all of her 24 claws trimmed. 🐈‍⬛ We’ll get her bloodwork results next week. The new vet is actually one I met several years ago when she was with Lap of Love. We’ve called on Lap of Love a few times for Eve’s predecessors, much preferred to have a caring vet come to your house for your fur baby’s last moments.

I made weight watchers pumpkin spice muffins to share with the neighbor who brought us a barbecued pork dinner earlier this week.

@katiecondy1 Hey, wicked good to see you, kiddo!! Aww, poor Molly!! Is she almost healed? Does it affect her walking? Animals adapt so much more easily. We have a few emergency places here for Izzy and Oscar (OSCARRR!! GET DOWN!! What ARE you doing NOW?!! LOL He's an orange kitty, so funny and lovable also). I just hung up with you, and know your S is there. COOL, he's helping around the place!! Can you both ride the horses of your neighbors? You "LOVE" going to town about as much as I love going into Portland. LOL!! I USED to, but that desire caught a bus and isn't coming back! Is the new food tracker on MFP? I used to love the scan in your food, but they made that for premium members only. I do not mind paying for apps, but from free to "WHAT!!?? HOW MUCH!" isn't reasonable. I'd easily do reasonable. OH SHOOT!! I have become my Dad!!! LOLOL!! LOL, good thing I loved him so much.
@Patti241 Good day, Patti!! Is it hot again there for the next few days, or was it? UGH mid to upper 70s and maybe 80 for the next 4 days. AARRGGHHH!!!
@alphafitchick We are going BACK into the 70s and maybe 80 over the next 4 days. Friday nights under the lights!!! Do you follow HS football? College? When my GD was in HS, we'd go to a few games. I was raised in the city I live in until the 4th grade, then moved to Portland. The 2 HSs compete horribly. Especially "The Bridge" game. Whoever loses that game ends up plowing the bridge between the 2 cities. LOL, we always know when it's being played. @Sableness Has Eve forgiven you for the (Shhhhhh v e t LOL) visit? A good vet is not easy to find. I had one down the street I ADORED!!! They always loved to see Izzy. One day, Izzy got out of the small room. She RAN out to a group of vets, etc. she meowed, and they picked her up. She was in kitty heaven with so many ooooing and awwing over her. LOL I laughed so hard. She is a very sweet kitty other except for poor Oscar!! But she also loves him deeply. Hope your neighbor loved the muffins!! YUMMY! Last week, a friend stopped by with a pork roast for me. It was super easy to make in the crockpot, but so much meat!! Good thing it's easy to freeze!
@Kurtize How's it going out therah on the west coast?

Good Saturday Morning VIP Friends, @Dianedoessmiles1 I do follow all of the local high school teams, the local collage team and I root for Vandy because a childhood friend of mine's oldest son is a senior this year on their O-Line. If anyone watches a Vandy game be on the lookout for big #70 as he's a good kid I've known since he was in elementary school.

@Dianedoessmiles1 - fortunately, Eve isn’t a grudge holder. Once she’s home and visited her water bowl, food dish, and litterbox, she’s happy. I have a wonderful cats only vet practice. It’s quiet—no barking—and the office cats are a hoot. They were entangled in utero, and each had a leg removed when only a couple days old. Chunky is bigger and lazier. Lucy discovered early on that the coffee maker for pet parents means she might get to lick a container of half and half. She can be dead out asleep, but will leap up and dash to the coffee maker to beg if she hears it turn ON.

I spent the day with Greek friends, and I’m sure my weight will look awful tomorrow. Greek hospitality = FOOD. Good thing it’s only practice week.

I was unhappy with the muffins I made. I used a gluten-free spice cake mix, and the texture just isn’t right. Even husband agreed they weren’t that great, but he’s willing to eat them anyway. I’ll do something else for the neighbor.

It rained last night and was just a little over cast most of the day. I was very lazy today and enjoyed it. Gave myself a facial, stayed in pjs all day, then took a shower and put on clean pjs haven't done that (stayed in pjs all day for years). I really spoiled myself today. Blessings.

It seems like it's been forever in coming, but finally in a few hours, Practice Week begins.

We had several eager beavers on my team that posted points for today and I had to post STOP - This Challenge doesn't begin until Sunday! Old habits die hard, but we'll all adjust. While it was out of sync with the rest of my life, the Saturday through Friday schedule is deeply rooted because I've been doing it for 15 years! But once we get going, it should be an easy switch, as one day will flow into another.

Just feel like things have been in waiting mode for a long time and I'm ready to get started! Just 3-1/2 hours my time zone, then we start warming up doing Practice Week. 🙂 Clear the track cause some racers are ready to go!
