New training program increased my resting heart rate 🤔
I wanna be a runner! I like the feeling of running, I enjoy it and want to do more of it. I honestly don’t know if I’m doing it right. I probably need a coach or at the least a running store. Since the weather has cooled down around here I’ve started back walking 1-2x daily 4-5 days a week with the intention to advance to…

Hello!
Just wanted to introduce myself! Not sure if this is the place to do so. I joined MyFitnessPal because my weight is starting to creep back up again. I have gained back 20lbs of the 80lbs that I’ve lost. I started running again, and my knees started to hurt badly. Well, that added 20lbs does not help, so I decided to put my…

Brooks Runners
Firstly, I aspire to be a runner. Currently I carry too much weight and in an aging body I am overly cautious about joint damage. I danced and played soccer ⚽️ all my youth, went back to play a season around age 45 at my heaviest weight because if I couldn’t move for something I loved I might as well be dead. I lived…

After training runs (so today for instance my long run was 11 miles) I feel stomach upset to where it’s difficult to eat, sometimes for the full rest of the day. I try to force myself to eat well rounded meals, protein and carbs immediately after…

Hello! Looking for inspiration from other athletes
Hey! I'm Marilyn and have used MFP on and off through a couple of decades. I've weighed between 140 and 150 lbs for most of my life. That's really big for a NCAA Division 1 distance runner! And yet - I was 🤣 I still run about 40 miles per week, lift a couple of times, swim and bike and backpack and take walks, etc. I'd…

Heart rate monitor for overweight folks?
Hi there! I’m trying to choose a HRM, and my instinct is that I’d find an arm band more comfortable, but it seems like chest monitors are more accurate. My hesitancy with a chest monitor is that I have lots of back fat and belly fat, and I’m worried it would shift around/not fit on me. I’m female and wear a sports bra, and…

Anyone currently doing C25K? W4D2
Hi all, I graduated from C25K about 6 years ago and was consistently running 30-40 minutes 3x weekly for a few years. I stopped running and now have to start from scratch (it sucks how quickly you become unfit!). I have 35-40lbs to lose and I'm currently on week 4 day 2. Is anyone else currently doing the program? Feel…

Running Help (Pace)
Can anyone share some strategies to change my basic running pace? I did exclusively distance for a while, and now I find myself falling into a slow pace I could keep up for hours every time I quit actively concentrating on pace. Current cadence tends to stay 165ish, so I know that could stand to come up some. Any tips?

Hello all!

Back to discipline.
Being overweight has never been what I wanted. I have high expectations, but I’ve been making too many excuses. If you would like to join me on a run or workout let me know. I can provide a safe, secure, comfortable environment to any males/females that avoid running because of unknown dangers. I’m a former combat Marine,…

Do you run slow? Then you might be doing it right!
I know some people eschew running because of its impact on the body, especially knees and hips. I have friends that tell me I shouldn't do it because I will inevitably get injured. To be honest, I got out of the habit at some point and will get back into it. I have never been a fast runner. Well, my last two or three years…
