Quite a lengthy intro
Hi- I'm a new member to the group, but not to the site (though my early use of the phone app didn't turn in to much). My name is Sara, I'm from Ohio, and I've been showing dressage since I was 12. I was always that "big" girl riding dressage, but I pushed myself and took my early horses (Draft Crosses, AQHAs) to both GMO…

NSV - rode in my tall boots today
Can't remember the last time I wore them. They do have zippers, but they are the standard calf width for Mountain Horse. I also had to mount from the ground because my DH borrowed my mounting platform and didn't put it back. Horse didn't even "mutter" when I got on (6 months ago, when I - unsuccessfully - tried, I thought…

My horse is coming home soon... an introduction of sorts.
Hi everybody! My gelding has been at the trainers now for a couple of months, and he'll be home soon. Before that he was "on vacation" for about a year. So, I was too. He's gotten fit and fabulous, and a good dressage base is being established. I've been riding all my life, with pockets of time in between where I didn't…

Fitbit
Anyone out there riding while using their Fitbit? Had it on today (brand new) while riding , got unrealistic high numbers. Probably will not wear anymore when riding. I give lessons and walk continually during lessons....now THOSE numbers I will take!

Sitting extended trots motivates one to lose weight
Since my menopausal weight gain of the last 10 years, I have found it has greatly greatly affected my riding. Sitting an extended trot and feeling like a big sack of potatoes was my breaking point last year and I vowed to not allow myself a recognized dressage show this year unless i took off, for starters...20 lbs. Showed…

Intro
I've been overweight since childhood, and while I've lost and gained small amounts over the past few years, I can't remember every being truly happy with how I looked. I've had a rough few years - I wasn't fortunate enough to own a horse as a teen, and finally got my dream horse my sophomore year of college. A tall, black…

Calorie burn during hour dressage lesson?
Does anyone have an educated guess? I've seen various claims but I guess bc each person and each lesson is so different I'd say it's kind of hard to pinpoint. Any ideas?

NSV "adjustments"
I've lost over 40 pounds since last Christmas. I recently purchased some smaller sized winter breeches and can finally fit into the "snow pant" winter breeches I purchased a few years ago with enough ease that I can finally mount a horse while wearing them. I am finding some negative to the weight loss also, though. I went…

Hello
Hi, I am new to this board, and was happy to find other riders. I am losing weight for Chester, my 16.3 hand gelding. Look forward to hearing what is working for others, and especially core building. He is a lovely boy, and I want to look as good in our pics as he does:smile:

How many calories...?
per 100 bales of hay stacked in the loft? 100+ in so far and another 100+ to be picked up and stacked yet. We get the hay loaded in the wagon ("pop" bales - around 50-60 pounds each when fresh), stack them on the pick-up, back the pick-up into the loft and stack the bales. We finally have a small elevator this year, so a…
