  • congrats peacehawk!!!!!!!! way to go :)
  • Ty Kaci and for the original poster of this thread. I frequently get flu-like after I push hard physically and I do have hypothyroidism. It has been almost impossible to maintain a regular exercise schedule. I might be fine for a few days to a few weeks and then boom and it lasts on and off for days to weeks. My throat…
  • Hi HashiMomma. Please feel free to add me as I have had Hashi for about the same amount of time as you and might actually have found some stuff that seems to be helping beyond the thyroid RX meds. @ Mark - it is an autoimmune disease where your body attacks your own thyroid because it is not functioning effectively. More…
  • Ty Feisty! I have not read Sisson's first book (or any really of his) so will put that on my book list.
  • Ty Foam! That helps.
  • Ty ortega! I am in need myself of some recipes and just joined Pinterest recently. Will go take a look plus the Nom Nom site.
  • Awesome! Ty CHFay :)
  • yeah, there are some huge changes after babies come through and for the most part you get back to how you were. then age kicks in and really eats away at muscle so i am finding that maintenance for strength is really big now and I did let that go for years after my kids were born for the most part because i gained strength…
  • Yea WWnot, it has been quiet. I for one have been struggling a bit with juggling lots of new health choices regarding food and activity since i joined MFP. From our 10lb goal thread here, I have lost approximately 8lb so far. Seems like for me what is really working best now is not logging my food every day but somehow I…
  • i use a knee brace for snowboarding because of a torn ACL that I could not have surgery on. what i learned about knees is that you do NOT want to use a brace on a regular basis if you do not have to as your knee musculature will become dependent on it and certain muscles you are 'protecting' actually get weaker and you are…
  • love it peacehawk! sounds similar to my first experiences as well. i am not very coordinated, just seem to be an adrenaline junky. falling all over the place in snow and water seems to keep me out of jail :)
  • Thank you!
  • hey MimiLaw - i am right there with you. i was doing great and then all of a sudden the scales read high again and I have been very discouraged :( i have been lifting so that is probably part of it and then there seems to be this thing about sugar and how it impacts my cravings so i just need to stay away from it for now.…
  • my goals are similar. would love to join your motivation train :) just started the paleo and have been doing stronglifts 5:5 about 3 weeks and love it. highly recommend.
  • I committed to another snow boarding trip with the young woman who kicked my *kitten* last weekend. I would like to believe I am brave rather than stupid :)
  • now i'm not! oh well. i'll enter it anyway :)
  • me too!!!!!! you keep me going.
  • love the sweatshirt crabada! looks like i am taking tonight off as i am not feeling good but tomorrow is another day (hopefully)! :)
  • Ty feisty & foamroller! All of this is helpful to me as I agree that we all have to tweak things to work for our own goals and plans AND it sure helps to get ideas about what is possibly not working for you versus what your body probably needs time to adjust to. foam - when you carb load prior to a hard workout, how much…
  • awesome peacehawk! yeah that boob and clothes thing right!?! health, fitness, endurance, quality of life! these are the rewards of being diligent with our food and exercise. had a good snowboard day sat, first of the season. got my butt kicked but that is really no surprise. no injuries and lots of fun so win/win :)

Any suggestions? Feeling…
  • now i can't even remember for sure but def. chard, broc, onion, ginger, cabbage, garlic, and ? celery!!! good job everyone. stayed tuned for next week what is in the fridge for broth!
  • Ty for sharing this Skep as I was worried it was just me. I do not think I ever had a harder time running than I did last week and it did not shift at all after 20 minutes, if anything it was worse so i had to stop! I am not giving up though but coming up with a different strategy is certainly in line.
  • wow! wow! wow! great article. ty everyone for sharing.
  • ok, i changed my mind and felt 'light' this morning and weighed in ahead of time. luckily i was!
  • my experience has been very similar to yours redbec. i have always been a big eater (generally healthy food but still) but i was always very active so it was fine. now feeling sick and exhausted so much has made being active in a predictable way impossible and really gets me down as i will have a window of feeling really…
  • @ krokador - i am surprised the videos have not helped as somewhere along the line I was shown how to do it correctly and it made a huge difference in what i felt in my core and my upper body. i wish i was able to share with you what it was but I can't remember. I do remember it was about rowing like a real rower does…
  • congrats pmur! i am just getting back into running shape so that makes it all a bit more confusing but there is something about the weakness in my legs for even an easy run that i need to figure out which i am sure is about food combined with weights. i would like to do both but probably focus more on making progress with…
  • @crabada - i have really come to love the rowing machine as well (use to HATE it). very relaxing and a great workout for upper body and core as well as legs. i actually burn way more calories doing it (via my heart rate monitor) than on the stationary bike when I am just warming up or needing to move at a semi-leisurely…
