I'm with you on that one. I often have mixed seeds, sultanans, honey or banana. Or for a treat a spoonful of lemon curd ;)

Congrats!! A simple rule of thumb is that to lose 1lb of body fat you need to eat 500 calories less than you burn each day. Use the BMR calculator and work out additional calorie burning throughout the day and go from there. I've reat that breastfeeding will count towards calories burnt by about 300-500 calories a day WOW!

Good point actually, I weight the fruit before I start but not the waste after....I will now though!!
-
Now that I agree with :D
-
Also I was referring to BG levels not insulin
-
What he said ^^^^ I never said that protein and carb spikes are similar because they are not
-
Well perhaps where they quote "There is nothing wrong with simple carbs" is a bold statement?
-
Everything is OK in moderation ;)
-
Again nope, as I dont know. But if protein did create a similar spike I'd rather it be from consuming protein than simple carbs. I've never experienced an insulin crash from consuming protein, the same cant be said for simple carbs. I'm not claiming to be an expert only that by avoiding consumption of simple carbs like…
-
Nope, my suggestion was to avoid insulin spikes from eating simple carbs. Never mentioned protein as I know they don't affect your blood glucose levels to the same level as carbs. It seems you're trying to put words in my mouth rather than help the OP.
-
Exactly so I certainly wasnt suggesting they give up protein too
-
When you consume more protein than your body needs, the excess protein is used to provide your body with energy or turned into fat. You can't store extra amino acids or protein for later use, so if you consume too many calories in an effort to increase your protein intake you will gain weight.
-
Plus they are so versatile. Most of the nutrients and calories are in the yolks so cutting them out occasionally is probably a good idea if you eat loads
-
How does protein cause a spike in blood glucose levels???
-
No, as far as I'm aware it's only high sugar foods that create such high spikes
-
Agreed, your body doesn't know what time it is at the end of the day you should eat when you're hungry. If you don't get hungry in the morning then that's fair enough and that works for you. I just cant go that long, we're all different and that's why nutrition is such a highly disputed subject as theories are always…

I just don't think its a good idea not to eat from dinner the night before until lunch time?? Id guess most people on a healthy balanced diet who exercise probably eat every 3-4 hours apart from overnight.
-
Depending what you put in your smoothies you may be better off just eating the fruit/veg. In liquid form your body breaks it down/digests it quicker so you will get hungry again quicker. Try adding some oatmeal/porridge to thicken it.
-
Its just all about the type of carbs you eat isn't it. Take a Mars bar, 40g of carbs or you can eat 7 cups of broccoli. Its obvious which will fill you up more.
-
Don't skip it, 'Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar' Omelette, burger, chicken, cottage cheese, wrap, granola bar
-
Use the BMR calculator http://www.myfitnesspal.com/tools/bmr-calculator, then log your activities which gives you additional calories burnt. You need to eat 500 calories less per day than you burn to lose 1lb of fat per week
-
As above don't cut them out completely it all depends on the type of carbs you're eating. Things like pasta and bread (especially white) are simple carbs. So firstly try switching to brown/wholegrain and cutting down where you can. Things like having oatmeal instead of toast for breakfast as it is slow release so will keep…

Chick peas, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice + jalapeños/red pepper......and blend ;)
-
Buy kitchen scales!!!
-
I actually use an omelette as the wrap, far less carbs. The eggs only have about 7g of carbs, a normal tortilla wrap is around 35g!!! I like BLT omelette wrap with guacamole
-
Honey or less sweet fruits like blueberries??
-
Celery or carrot with peanut butter or hummus
-
;)

Protein powders are not required unless you are doing some serious weight training. For most athletes you can consume enough protein from your normal food without the need to use powder too. As ljcox7210 suggested if you want a chocolate flavour use cocoa powder. I use half a banana, peanut butter, semi skimmed milk and 3…

Vodka or gin and tonic probably
