Are you allowed to wear an Apple Watch while practicing karate? I'd use its its "move" calculator to monitor my heart rate to determine how much exercise I got. When your heart rate is high enough, it'll count it as exercise.

When you say you’ve been good with your food, are you counting all of the calories you’re consuming? Are you measuring them or making an estimate? Is it possible you’re eating more than you think?

How about you aim for 1 lb per week to lose? That is sustainable and realistic for a lot of people. No need to be disappointed. Just pick it up again and look at it for the long-term, not till Christmas. When you mess up with your goal, just get back on. Every day is a chance to begin again.

It really sounds like you need a therapist. There's a reason you do what you do, and you want to stop. If you can't will yourself to stop, then it seems like you need help. Call today and book an appointment. It will be a significant wait likely to get in to one, so you may as well get on the schedule ASAP.

I logged into a food tracking app that is a competitor to MFP, and it recommended less than 1200 calories for me (female). It recommended 1052 calories per day! I won’t be doing that, but I found it interesting that it would recommend below what I thought was considered the absolute minimum.

As I aged, I started meeting friends for drinks and meals for fun instead of going hiking or kayaking. I grew less active and started eating and drinking more.

Figure out your own preferred timing for eating your calories. Time of day doesn't matter in terms of weight loss. If you prefer bigger meals less frequently, do that. Drink diet soda. It's okay to drink diet soda to support your weight loss goals. For cravings, sometimes a soda and a piece of gum help me if I'm not actually hungry but have the munchies.
