What gets measured gets managed. Small steps, best of luck.

In 40 years of going to gyms all over the US and several in Europe I have never had a trainer try to sell their services to me or observe one trying to do so to someone else. I guess it happens but personally never seen it

Cheaper than that. Shakeweight available for $0.50 at local garage sales.

If you read my post you will notice I said just because it's advertised as no intimidation, doesn't mean it's true (or truer than any other gym). They just picked up the tag line. It's advertising fluff, banking on the idea they can reel in people. To be honest, I would say most of the people that sign up for PF because of…

You and lose weight just with a calorie deficit. However, you will get substantial health benefits if you add some activity. Is a medical professional telling you not to exercise? If not, it would be great to add some, starting slowing. Best of luck.

I'm no looking for one but haven't women only gyms and women only sections of gyms pretty much gone the way of the dodo bird? I used to see them around or see ads for them, but haven't for years in my area and my travels. And I wouldn't think a womans only gym would prevent one from getting hit on.

Because PF runs a national advertising campaign saying there's no gym intimidation doe that means it has to be true? Hint, most advertising has a fair bit of exaggeration if not outright lying in it. The intimidation is coming from the perspective of the individual. If they've managed to BS enough people to whom it matters…

I was going to use a PF for a day when out of town visiting relatives (not in a high cost city). They wanted $20 for a day pass. I was like, you're kidding, you charge $10 a month (wouldn't let me sign up for a month). Skipped lifting that day.

Actually it's more based on the amount of fat covering the abs. Was listening to a podcast where a couple guys with Masters in Exercise Science were discussing a number of topics. One mentioned the 300 pound cadaver he had examined in school, said that guy had a 6 pack under all the fat. History showed the deceased wasn't…

No I do not expect people to anticipate my needs in a gym. That's why I have no problem asking to work in. It should be common courtesy to not hog space/equipment in a public place. Wouldn't you think someone was s total douche if you were at a crowded airport and someone had their crap on 3 seats in the waiting area and…

Believe me, I have no problem asking someone hogging a piece of equipment to move their *kitten*. Thing is, God forbid, people should have enough common sense to do it without being asked

Or any other social situation period. Are we going to start seeing marketing for no intimidation grocery stores, restaurants, etc?
-
I believe people get pissed off with the advertising campaign that stereotypes the appearance/actions of people that belong to "intimidation gyms" (which PF marketing whats people to believe that is everywhere besides PF, which isn't true). To be honest, if you took the the late afternoon crowd from 10 random gyms and…

In my office there are often stopped up stalls ready to dibble over with one more use, forcing people to find one that works, even if it's next to an occupied stall.

Several of my jobs involved working in an offices attached to million+ sq ft manufacturing facilities. People learned real fast to bring whatever they wanted to eat every day and not store items in the desk, credenza, etc. It's not uncommon to hear a scream when someone discovers a mouse eating the string cheese (or…

Very true, but for people on lower calorie diets, the calories needed to meet nutritional needs take up a larger % of total calories. There may still be some calories left for "low nutrient/less nutritious foods" but maybe not as many as some people would hope for.

Yep, I feel the people that join PF because of "gym-intimidation" (as opposed to has stuff they, need, location, price, etc.) are intimidated/have social anxiety issues in a lot of situation in addition to a gym.

I've worked for a major corporation for a number of years at several locations. None had "break rooms" The locations had cafeterias but many people ate at their desks because 10+ hour days are common and most people want don't want to waste time sitting in a cafeteria. Would much rather work and get out at a decent time.

I'm in 100% agreement with this.

Spot on:
-
To be honest, in anything I've read on the PF rules haven't seen anything about giving unsolicited advice.

Plus doing work with the weights before cardio tends to be safer. You're not as tired so less likely to drop a weight on yourself.

Eating in a calorie surplus causes one to store fat, not a certain age.

The 70% of the people who are overweight/obese don't really need/want it there to tempt them.

Yep they don't want the liability of someone pushes themselves too hard and has an issue.

Exercise, time with my wife and beers with friends/family.

One gym that I go to plays this testosterine dropping pop music in the weight area. Thank the Lord for headphones and a music source that can play classic rock and metal.

Almond and other nut juices (some people call them milk) are useless if you don't have a lactose issue.
