Happy New Year, friends! I am so happy to be on this journey with you. It helps me to know I'm not alone in my struggle to be AF. I will keep on trying. We're staying home this evening and watching hockey. I'll cook dinner. I'm really content and happy not to be going out. Sometimes, I just want to be at home with my…

Carole- we can't wait to see your cat!

@Walela617 You never have to worry about confiding in us- we've all been there. We know exactly how good intentions can go awry. Live and learn! That's why we will keep in mind that quote you posted! Always a new day leads to a fresh start. I agree with how expensive alcohol is! I was at the grocery store and my bill would…

I've been eating sweets and chips and going out a bunch. Lots of wine, too. When I…

@Walela617 My friend who is sober always told me if you're sober 99% of the time, then you are doing great!!! The occasional sip or two should not doom the great progress you make. She is right about that. It was good that you did stop! That's progress!
-
Merry Christmas, friends! Wishing you lots of love and laughter. <3
-
@Walela617 I can moderate only sometimes. Most of the time nope! I'm just like you. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas! I'm happy you ate a bunch! That sounds like you had a great time. So proud of you!
-
@Walela617 Hooray! You are doing amazingly well!! Count the days anyway you want. I moderated this past weekend. And on Christmas Eve no one drinks at my parents' house, because they just don't. So, I won't be tempted there!

When I went out of the country on vacation for 3 weeks, I didn't gain an ounce. We ate out three times a day at restaurants or cafes. We drank beautiful wine and never had headaches. We walked a ton. This is the opposite of where I live. We have to drive everywhere. When I eat out here, at night, my fingers get tingly and…

@globalhiker Good morning! Yes, the energy level is so much higher! What about how fresh your face looks and your skin glows. I remember thinking that my eyesight improved a little when I was sober for my long period. <3

Good morning! I am on day 4 AF today but I notice when I post my early days, I jinx myself. I am going to a work party tonight and dinner out with old friends. So I am going to have to make a decision. Maybe an AF bottle of beer would work. @xbowhunter I like how you strive to keep improving. Sugar is the worst. I have…

Totally agree with you. Friend requests from strangers, usually men always send a private message saying "hi, how are you?". They just want to chat or something. I only accept requests from people I see on the threads and like.
-
Another side benefit of sobriety is that at work, you don't feel queasy or lethargic. I've had lots of energy at work and felt happy despite the crazy atmosphere. The students are really revving up for the holiday break and they are a ball full of energy.

@SunnyDays930 Seeing New York City sober must have been the best!! Happy you had a great time!

Good morning, friends. I'm sleeping much better this week sober. Heart rate is 10 beats lower at night; I know I've pointed that out before. My husband sometimes tells me that his heart rate is the same at night whether he drinks or not. I said "You're fooling yourself if you think alcohol doesn't hurt the heart." Congrats…
-
@Walela617 Thank you for your kind words of support. I am cringing at what I think I may have said last night. Saving grace was my husband dragged me home early from the party. He saved me from any more embarrassments. He is a saint. I will start fresh. I like to think last night's life lesson will motivate me to stay AF…

I went to a party last night, had drinks, and said some embarrassing comments to various people. It is a little fuzzy in my mind, and I also hurt my husband's feelings blaming him for my problems. See what you are missing by not drinking? Stay the course. Keep fighting the good fight. You're saving yourself from a lot of…

Carole- keep it up!! You are past three weeks and nearing one month! So proud of you! Maybe the Covid was a small blessing because you didn't want to even drink. I hope you are feeling better now and can get your little kitty! <3
-
@xbowhunter Regarding your comment about maybe moderating, I would say don't do it. I regret terribly that I broke my streak AF and cannot get back that momentum. You've come so far. The alcohol elevator only goes one way .... down! Nothing good comes from it. I'd say you tried to moderate for a few years and it doesn't…

Amazing @MissMay 70 days AF!!! Keep it up! So happy for you!
-
@Walela617 Congrats on 19 days AF!! That is very thoughtful of you to look out for the little baby. I know you can't wait to meet your kitty!!!
-
I went to the doctor and they weighed me ... with shoes on and clothes, of course. She said "I'll take off 2 pounds for clothes and shoes.". But I was actually pretty happy, because I saw on my chart that I am have a 28 BMI. I was happy to see that because a few years ago, I had a BMI of 32. I'll take that as a win.…

Sorry Carole you are still not feeling well! Congrats @globalhiker 3 months + 11 days of freedom and happiness
