I think that's a personal choice and how comfortable you are with people knowing. my close circle of family and friends I've told that I'm going for RNY, but I feel it's not others people's business. I guess if your comfortable with that person then why not. IF someone is going to judge you for having the surgery and…

Quest bars are good. but it's mostly mental too. almost have to ween yourself off the "bad" snacks. But lots of good suggestions. I do the peanut butter thing too. that helps. There are a few different things you can do to see if you are stomach or mouth hungry too, if you can identify that then it might helo to start…

Caribu, Obsidian blend is really good. but I haven't had a bad Caribu coffee either. that Deathwish coffee has me intruiged. I like a strong coffee. but as someone mentioned above, finding a local roaster would be good too!

Greek yogurt is a good one for me. I'll add berries, nuts and flax seed. But you can add pretty much anything you prefer. I've been looking into Green Moster smoothies too.

Good luck! I'm going in a few months after you do. It's a bit scary, but the good people here are able to lend a supportive hand and explain things in much simpler terms too! which is a big help for me. and as Rob said above, hit the pre-op plan and keep on, keeping on!!

I've tried it and I don't mind it. I like trying different things though... I sort of get the idea behind the oil/fats concept and it did make me feel full for quite a while. and it's really not that bad. Its just a creamy coffee. My wife says I did seem perkier after for much longer and didn't have the regular caffiene…

It's adults way of being bullies. Passive aggressive snide comments. usually caused by the persons own internal issues are struggles. Maybe someone could come and give a workshop on WLS or who knows, but educating and knowledge can go a long way in getting past those negativities.

also some people just don't have any tact, and just blurt out anything, intending to be positive but ends up being rude and distasteful.
-
I hear what your saying. I think it'll take time for people to get used to seeing you at what is your new normal.

I haven't haqd the surgery yet, either. I'm in the pre-op process. Went to the initial orientation and just had my first meetings with the nurse, dietitian, kinesiologist and went well. hopefully early next year I can get scheduled in. I was quite nervous before, but after joining here and reading what people's experiences…

That's amazing! great work! very inspirational

Thanks for the replies! I've been steadily working at losing weight and hitting the gym to prepare for the surgery. Hearing your stories makes me want to do it even more!
-
That's comforting to hear. And I'm working ot losing some weight as well, before going in for surgery. I guess building up prior to surgery would help with what muscle loss may happen after. Guess I'll push a little harder at the gym! thank you so much for your insight. Puts a little ease to my apprehensions.
