  • My late husband had severe raynauds syndrome. My research suggested changing from cod liver oil (for arthritis) to oil of evening promise. It worked pretty well! I hope it works.
  • It seems we have a nice group of folk all doing their best with the keto diet. I have stopped losing, but am in ketosis. I think it is because, like Lashes, the veges pile on the calories. I have also been experimenting with keto bread, cake and biscuits. Not a good idea! You think they are good, and they are very nice,…
  • A few years ago I started using MFP, just counting calories, and I lost about 3 stone in weight. But gradually since then I have put most of it back on again. Usual story! So I decided to try again, and thinking back to all my previous efforts, I decided that the best one for me had been the atkins diet. I did a bit of…
  • SI joint =sacro illiac joint. Somr drs say they do not cause problems1 i think they are wrong.
  • I feel for you. It will go, at least that is what my consultant said to me. But it took about 3 months, mostly spent in bed. Ouch! I found the most helpful was a chiropractor, and an individual pilates teacher. Now that the pain has now eased, I find I still need to see the chiropractor every month, and I do pilates…
  • I am 74, and losing weight. I feel much better when I walk a bit, swinging arms and stretching, but I seem to go from one problem to the next. It started with sciatica, which kept me in bed for about 2 months. Then arthritis in my knee stopped me walking and swimming. That has now eased, and I am back to walking and…
  • I have exactly the same problem, but have found that hot water is much easier to tolerate, but only in small quantities. A squeeze of lemon is also helpful I also drink tea and coffee, but very weak , and always decaffeinated. Just count the cals lf you are trying to lose weight.
  • Wow, what a fascinating, detailed and helpful, very personal reply. You are an inspiration to us all. I too have had breast cancer, treatment was 25 years ago. I had not made any connection to my present problems, but now you have made me think. I am losing weight, have increased protein, and try eat well. I really think I…
  • Thanks everyone, I will be asking for yet another referral. Yes I do take magnesium. At first it seemed to help, but now I am not so sure.
  • Thankyou everyone I have made a commitment publicly! Now I just have to stick with it.
  • Hello bagpuss fan! When I started on mfp I was 3 stone overweight, and could not walk due to severe sciatica. Mfp has remade my life! I have lost 35 lbs, and can now walk up to 4 miles, in total, in a day. My friends have been very helpful to me , and I would love you to be a friend. Maybe I can help and encourage you.
  • Oh and doughnuts, but I just do not buy them while trying tp lose weight, but I just cannot resist them.
  • Nuts and dates. Full of nutrients, but oh so high in calories. Mfp says aprtion of dates is 2! Ha ha, I can eat a whole box, and 200g of cashews or macadamias, no problem!
  • I love my misfit flash, but the android app is not much good.
  • My name is hazel, enough said!
  • You are not old! I am losing nicely and I am 73. You have just got to log every thing you eat, maintain the deficit, and as you get lighter you will feel more like exercising. Good luck.
  • I am thinking about the misfit, because it is the only one suitable for swimming. Anyone know ifit works and is useful?
  • Thanks, I will look into the polar loop.
  • When I am counting calories to lose weight I also get constipated. I put it down to the reduced bulk of food consumed. Try taking psyllium husks, much gentler than bran, and gradually increase the amount till it does the job, then gradually reduce it again. My dr recommended this for ibs with constipation, and I have not…
  • I use forever living aloe vera to help mmuscle aches and pains. I definitely notice the difference if I dont take it. I did the forever living cleanse 9 prog and lost 8lbs in 9 days. Then did fit 1, and it suggested MFP. Now 21 lbs lighter than before. Cant be bad. Dont believe all the horror stories about bowel cleansing.…
  • Thanks everyone. Nutty
  • Me too. I live in Bath, but my Mfp friends seem to be in the states. Keep trying, together we can do it! Nutty
  • Hello all, I am 73 and have been using MFP for about 3 months and have lost 21 lbs. Starting at around 200 lbs, I still have a way to go. I guess the piriformis problem is causing sciatica, ouch. I had 3 months in bed last year because I could not walk or sit, due to sciatica, but now I am heaps better and this morning…
  • I have not seen this. Is it available in the UK? Nutty
  • But surely, if you weigh after cooking your oatmeal, the water content could be very different. If you weigh before cooking you can be certain of the calories in the pan, and then you can eat it over the course of time. I have the same raw or cooked dilemma with meat. Nutty
  • Just been reading these letters. Please, what is sugar free syrup? Nutty
  • Dr told me to take pain relief and exercise. It made me worse, and I ended up in hospital. Find a good practicioner, osteo or chiro, and keep moving, but not really hard exercise until you have been sorted. Good luck. Nutty
  • Good evening everyone. Just reporting to say that I have been well under control today. No chocolate or cake, just lovely healthy stuff! I am off to bed now, feeling quite hungry, but pleased I have had a good day. I love the pictures of your cats, keep them coming. Nutty
  • Hello Heather, I too have a back problem, and had to spend 3 months in bed. As you can imagine, when I could get up I was very weak, and my first exercises were Pilates. I am now heaps better, walking a little every day, swimming, and pilates once a week. I also hope that losing weight will help prevent a recurrence. Good…
