I was doing some reading and found that Aloe vera can aid in weight loss. Has anyone tried using aloe vera as an aid in their weight loss? Any success?

I always look at new "trends" this way.... if there was a miracle way to lose weight quickly... don't you think Oprah would have found it by now? lol0

Aloe vera can be good to use, but not long-term, because it is a laxative (a gentle and natural one). You can use it for several weeks to cleanse the colon, which can help your digestive system run smoother and increase your energy level. Here is a link about it:

Ahaahhaa at the oprah would have found it!! I have a issue with sore stomachs and bloating..(possible IBS, it runs through the family ) however since I have changed what I eat it is nowhere as bad and I think I own ALOT of the lack in bloating to the aloe vera juice I have every morn and sometimes evening.I have 2 tbs of concertrated juice in a glass of water on an EMPTY stomach and I'm finding if I don't have it the bloat is back. As for aiding weight loss if you caount the less weight from the bloat then yea but it doesn't melt your pounds away or anything like that! It does have a great number of health properties though so maybe something that is benficial to you0

A friend's mother had lost nearly 100lbs mixing aloe vera and water and of course eating healthy. They would mix the aloe vera with water and pineapple to help with the taste.0

some international super markets have flavored aloe vera drinks. i used to drink the mango and peach flavors (totally yumzo.) just be careful with how much you drink because of what others have said - it will clean you out!0

You are only supposed to drink 1-2 oz. of aloe vera a day. Don't go over that as you can get sick and will be in the bathroom all day! In the morning, I take 2 oz. and mix it with water and a splash of cranberry juice. You can't even taste the aloe vera. It will help me use the restroom and cleans you out but not in a "detox" sort of way... There are also a ton of vitamins and nutrients in aloe vera juice that is so good for your overall health. Just don't over do it.... as with everything...... everything in moderation!
Good luck!0 -
My mom would drink it mixed with apricot juice when she had very active stomach ulcers. After about a year of drinking it daily she had actually gotten taken off the stomach meds, healed the ulcers and gained 10 healthy pounds (she had been underweight).0

Usually it's in the produce section of your supermarket. I use George's Aloe Vera juice which I order thru amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Warren-Laboratories-Georges-Gallon-liquid/dp/B00014EB6O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313944606&sr=8-10 -

Aloe vera juice (from the store) is not particularly healthy but I have some aloe vera growing in my backyard; I may look into smoothies and stuff. Thanks for the tip.0

The ALO drinks (I get them at Whole Foods) are really good. Good variety of flavor and also have them in lower sugar versions.0

I've also heard it can help your body synthesize other vitamins better. Just a little bit a day and make sure it if from a reputable company.0

If you are going to use Aloe Vera you you make sure you use the least manufactured one possible. My sister sells the forever living brand. I use it. I was on meds for an ulcer but not anymore. I also used to suffer from IBS but not any more. She has a facebook page and a web shop. You can buy from it anywhere in the world. I'm doing the Fit1 programme now. I love it. Look her up. Forever living the life is the name of the page on FB. Her name is Caroline O'Leary. A great way of getting it for a lower price is to become a distributor too. You'll never look back! She's on carousello@yahoo.co.uk. She's on this too. The Fit1 plan even recommends using MyFitnessPal alongside.-5

Um. I use aloe vera when I'm in the sun too long. Maybe that's why my arms look so skinny in the summer...0

I use forever living aloe vera to help mmuscle aches and pains. I definitely notice the difference if I dont take it. I did the forever living cleanse 9 prog and lost 8lbs in 9 days. Then did fit 1, and it suggested MFP. Now 21 lbs lighter than before. Cant be bad. Dont believe all the horror stories about bowel cleansing. I still need to take the fibre supplement sometimes in spite of the gel. Incidently, I really like the tadte of the plain natural gel! Nutty-1
