I just got a surge yesterday! I did have a flex - but given I do more gym work than walking it wasn't overly helpful. The surge is good as it has the heart rate monitor function. I haven't given it a good workout yet. Tomorrow I'll be getting into it

I am thinking about the misfit, because it is the only one suitable for swimming. Anyone know ifit works and is useful?

According to what I've read it's also one of the better trackers for cycling. I'd love to hear from anyone who's using a misfit :-)

Misfit Flash: Offers all the same features as the Misfit Shine (described below), but for half the price. Read my Misfit Flash review here >
Misfit Shine: Capable of swim tracking. It will record your time spent swimming, though to do so, you must first use the app to notify the device that you're about to start swimming and then you must indicate the start time of the activity by tapping the Shine when you begin. Rather than reporting number of strokes, the Shine reports "points" -- a unit they created to tally effort across various exercises. After quite some time searching, I was able to find a Shine reviewer who actually took one for a swim and reported back. While that user found that the band did not accurately capture swim intensity, I strapped my Shine onto my ankle and gave it a go in my pool, and found that it worked perfectly. I also tried strapping it to my arm, and again, found it to be quite accurate. The Shine also tracks walking, running, cycling, and sleeping, and uses the data to determine calories burned and miles travelled. It can be worn in myriad ways, including as a clip, necklace, wrist band, and more; when swimming, the Misfit Shine should be worn on the wrist. Syncs wirelessly. Compatible with iOS, Android, and Windows phones. You can read more on this site's Misfit Shine page >

this looks liek a good one

Amiigo: The Amiigo will be able to identify your swimming style, count the number of arm strokes you make, and how many laps you complete. In addition to this, the Amiigo will recognize other activities (walking, running, cycling, and can learn to recognize other activities), and capture resting heart rate, body temperature, sleep, calories burned, and number of steps in a day. For Android and iOS. It is waterproof and syncs via bluetooth low energy.

I do. I tried so many (expensive to cheap) and of all, I love my Misfit Flash most. I am hoping to try out the Basis Peak (if it ever comes back in stock) and the Up3, if it ever makes it to the market. But for now, I am VERY happy with the Misfit Flash. If you have a Misfit, add me as a friend: sammi1244

    Happy Fitness!!

Misfit shine. Tracked my swimming and cycling without any problems. Water proof and I put it in my bra most of the time. Works well. Like it better than Fitbit, pivotal living, lifetrak, omron, and a few others.

I recently acquired an amiigo. I'm a avid tester of activity trackers and in the last 75 days I've lost 14lbs with the aid of MFP and my trackers. Feel free to ask any questions.

You can swim with the polar loop. It is water proof up to 20 meters. And you can sync it with a polar f7 or h7 chest hrm.

I have the polar m400 and like it a lot. I have been swimming with it and it's waterproof. It counts things as active minutes it's a little different than how the Fitbit works, but it still counts steps as well. I do miss the fact that polar does not integrate with a lot of 3rd party apps, but the tracker is great very comfortable and good battery life. It does not have the heart rate monitor on the watch but a separate one you wear on your chest which I think works well. For swimming and cycling the v800 I believe does a better job but for me the m400 is perfect.

I can echo what I've heard about the surge, and say it has it's place and works decently. It has limitations so don't swim with it. The screen is outdated, the smart display is a nice plus. The display doesn't suit everyone (it's quite large). The GPS works well and the wrist base pulse is a bonus. I personally I feel it's a cheaper alternative to the higher end polar and garmin products but it uses the 'older' waist straps that have traditionally being used. IT should be said that if you like social competition the fitbit environment is very nice for that. I find fitbit too simple for my tastes but I'm a data junkie.

what do you think of the fitbit zip @snowy0wl ? All I'm after is steps taken and calories burned.
I've had the zip for 2ish weeks . It's the first tracker I've ever used, so have got nothing to compare it to
