  • Been two weeks since my last chek-in, but all is going well. I am 10lbs lighter since my start in January and I have dropped about 2% body fat. The abs are beginning to look impressive and the rest of the body is toning up nicely. Roughly 3 more weeks of the 50p/30f/20c menu plan, then I will begin 5 weeks of bulking up.…
  • Been a week or so since my last check in. That week was spent giving my body a slight breather. Instead of lifting weights with Sagi, I was doing heavy cardio and P90X3 CVX. Now I am back in the weight room, completing Bulk Shoulders yesterday and Bulk Back/Bulk Chest on Saturday. Today will be Build Legs and Bulk Arms. I…
  • Yesterday and today were both great workout days for me. I was looking for additional cardio without resorting to running all the time, so I checked out the base fitness center nearest my office to see what it had to offer. I was immediately sold when I saw the rowing machines. I LOVE rowing machines! So I rowed for 27…
  • I hope your day improves and you get to feeling better. Look at the blessings, it was not worse than it was. Mike
  • It's the start of a new exercise month, which means changing up the menu plan. February will cut the carbs in half, bump up the protein and fat, and increase the cardio. Have to keep variety in the workout strategy. Hope everyone is having a great week.
  • Yesterday I ran 3 miles and did Body Beast Bulk Arms and Build Legs. Great workout day! I hope everyone had a great weekend.
  • Another blessed day at work, even though there were times when I was looking at the clock and wishing it was time to go home. Nonetheless, it is now the weekend! I walked in the door and took a quick 15-minute nap to recharge my batteries after working on the computer all day in the office. Once that timer went off, I was…
  • Ran for 16 minutes in 30mph winds and P90X's Ab Ripper X. Food was right on the mark. Tomorrow is FRIDAY! Keep pushing yourself.
  • Cue up Aerosmith's "Back in the Saddle" It felt really good to get back into the program after almost a week recovering from the flu. I did not do anything crazy like my scheduled doubles. I will save that for Friday. Today I cranked up the tunes and did Body Beast Bulk Shoulders, which is one of my favorites. Tomorrow is…
  • Thanks. I use P90X Ab Ripper twice a week instead of Body Beast's ab routine.
  • That one, to me, is the toughest. Keep at it!
  • Welcome Rachellech. I am curious how your menu plan works, especially since we have common goals. Granted, I am not into bodybuilding competitions, unless you consider looking good at the beach. Mike
  • I agree Fitin50s, I do not use the DVDs anymore either. I found Sagi annoying at times and his pace was occasionally too quick for me. I have a binder next to my dumbbells with each workout sheet printed with a few modifications. Now I blast to room with my own music playlist and hit to weights and/or resistance bands.…
  • Bulk legs seemed easier to me than Build Legs. Those Step Up Reverse Lunges would wear me out!! Here is an article I read today about listening to your body. Having an off day at the gym? Listen to your body and lay off. Mike Plunkett - The Washington Post You're at the gym for a weightlifting session. But something feels…
  • Welcome German B I am on Day 4 of my Tamiflu doses and feeling much better. Today I have a dental appointment followed by Bible Study, so today will not be a workout day. Tomorrow, on the other hand, will be a perfect day to press RESET and get back into my Body Beast program. Mike
  • Hey Gang I had been under the weather this week, but did not think it was too serious and I tried to press on. Today I could not take it any more and went to urgent care, only to find out I have Influenza A. So much for the flu shot. Now I am taking Tamiflu and ruling my home from the sofa. I will let you know as soon as I…
  • Stosha, it is ok to have a little birthday cake now and then. I will share a story about when someone brought donuts to work one day. I calculated the donut to be 400 calories and one pushup was 1 calories. I took the chocolate donut to my desk and every 20 minutes or so I would crank out as many pushups as I could. I…
  • Welcome to the thread, Ticiaelizabeth. Hopefully we can all motivate each other and share some tips along the way. Tonight I knocked out Body Beast Bulk Back and Bulk Chest. I passed on the Ab Ripper X because I am trying to complete an art project for a local store and I needed all the time I could get. I figured 51…
  • Take your favorites from both and make your own hybrid program.
  • Great to have you join us... It has been a bit quiet this week,, but we are here sweating.
  • Sometimes life happens and you end up with a no-notice 2hr errand after work that derails your plans to exercise. You simply have to accept that and press on. It is not a failure moment, but rather motivation to push yourself harder the next day. I have been on my Body Beast hybrid program for 13 days and still going…
  • Yesterday was not a great day for working out. My menu was right on target, but due to a phone that kept rebooting randomly, I had to make my way to Verizon to buy a new phone. Turns out, the problem is due to a firmware update Samsung pushed out and the S5 will eventually fix itself, but I have had the phone for two years…
  • Looking for an active feed with people using similar programs (P90X3, Body Beast, running). I thought I'd say HEY and meet new folks in here. Mike
  • Yoga or cardio DVDs in Vibram 5 finger shoes, but lifting in my retired running shoes.
  • I like to use P90X Ab Ripper instead of an ab workout Body Beast uses. That gives me the best workout for the money. Not sure how that would affect your back. Mike
  • Good morning, December! It feels good to start a workout program and have a goal. Whether it is Day 4 or Day 40, you are making a lifestyle commitment many others don't even attempt. Enjoy the cardio while your muscles recover! I figured if I am going to change into workout clothes and sweat, I may as well make it count…
  • I just finished my Body Beast Build Legs/ Bulk Arms workout. I have found that three days is not enough rest for my legs to recover from a Body Beast workout, so I had to re-write my exercise schedule to allow four days of rest. Sucks getting old, doesn't it? So now my workout schedule looks like this: Day 1 - Build Legs /…
  • It is early in the morning and I have not done my workout yet, but I thought I would drop a note to say HEY and share a few random thoughts. My biggest goal is to drop at least 5% body fat, hopefully 7% before the summer arrives. Moving from St Louis to the Carolina beaches has inspired me to use my Beachbody workouts with…
  • RoxieDawn, are you presently using Body Beast? If so, I can always use a friend to bounce ideas and compare notes. Mike
  • You will need something overhead to loop the resistance band over. You can use a sturdy hook (used to hang up bicycles) screwed into a 2x4 or ceiling joist. Drape the band over the hook and hold each end of the band in your hands. Use the same pullup motion you would use on a bar, but with the bands instead. Depending on…
