I am trying to build muscle in my abs. This is my problem area. How often should I be working them? How much recovery time is really needed?

I have Ankylosing Spondylitis. None of the medications they gave me worked. I even tried Enbrel. It has been three years now since my diagnosis. So I manage medication free. I have learned that if I do nothing my pain level is horrible. But if I exercise although sore from my workout I don’t notice the other pain as much.

Interesting for sure!!! I actaually eat more now that I track my calories. It is something for me to consider.

I don't do cheat days. I have worked really hard to change how I think about food. So I always think about food as fuel only and my best choices. It is not always easy!! Lol...I allow sweets in the house but only things I have made. Makes the kids happy. I am not a sugar person at all ..I am a bread person. So a cheat meal…

I will have to switch up my routine again. I am trying to build muscle and lose fat also.

Ok I will do that. It has been 23 days for me . Did you change what you were doing completely or add weight/resistance and reps/time?
-
I didn't think they would make a huge difference. And I have been on goal of a pound a week until recently where I have hit a plateau.

I have not gained any but I do plateau for long periods. I stay away from any processed foods. I have gone so far as to do all my own baking for the family also. We do not eat any fast food at all. Have you had your Thyroid checked? Sometimes you do everything right and gain but it is a medical issue. Hormones also. I have…

Yes I agree. I lost 50 pounds three years ago and have maintained it. But the last 20 I want to lose is hard. My exercise routine changes. I know all about your body adjusting to exercise and food. I have hit a plateau before and worked through it. And I will do the same this time also. It is great to hear everyone's…

I will try that...Thanks!!

I get 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Just what I am wired for. And I have decreased caloric intake and increased. And my exercises change for the day of the week. Also so do my reps and weights. So doing all that you have mentioned. I will keep at it :)

I do cardio 30 min 6 days a week along with strength training. Yes very frustrating!!

Some of the core exercises are newer. So maybe that is it. I do feel "puffy" like I am retaining water but scale hasn't gone up so I kinda brushed it off. I do measure my food. Thanks for all your great help!

I don’t drink. I only drink water. No soda..no sugar, no juice .I eat within my guideline for protein. As I eat low carb ..it is pretty much protein and vegetables with some healthy fat included and fruit. You can see why I am getting a little frustrated and discouraged. But I just keep working at it.

I already eat low carb. So bread and pasta is rarely in my diet . But Thanks for your ideas!

I did and my last improvement was about three weeks ago. Have not lost anymore inches since then. And I only weigh in once a week. Same day and time.
