  • For supper tonight, I got out my scale, and I weighed everything I put in my plate. Kraft shells and cheese, 2 oz. Knorr beef rice sides, 3 oz.,stewbeef, 2 oz., sweet peas2 tbsp. that was my supper. I looked on my pea protein powder container, and it said one level scoop is 33 grams(never noticed that before). So, should I…
  • How should I be measuring the protein powder? I'm using the scoop in the container. The directions say one scoop. how much protein powder do you think I should be using? I didn't know, I've never seen anywhere how much I should be using. Thank you so much for helping me.
  • I went back and looked at my goals, and I had put down 1.5 lbs. a week. Yes, you are right, that is not reasonable, since I am not walking right now. I changed it to 1 lb. a week, hope that helps. I need to lose 35 lbs. I bought a scale, but I quit using it. My breakfast and lunch are accurate, yogurt for breakfast, and a…
  • Walked again yesterday for one hour doing 3 miles. Body wasn't sore this time when I got up this morning. After the initial shock to my body, guess it decided to cooperate by not being sore. Scale hasn't moved yet, not even a little bit, but I am sticking to it.
  • bcjan, I bought a sportline pedometer from W.M., for about 10.00. Supposedly it measures steps and miles. I think it is pretty accurate. Today it showed I walked 7625 steps, and 3.6 miles.. I thought about a fitbit, but I don't need anything complicated, simple works for me.
  • I should not have tried so hard Monday trying to walk 3 miles in one hour to start with, I was so sore Tuesday morning when I got up, I barely was able to get around. But I rested Tuesday, and today I will get out there and do it again. My willpower is still strong, and, I haven't had any sweets at all, or sugar in my…
  • Today I walked 3 miles in an hour. Thought that was pretty good since I haven't walked in over 6 months. I am going to try to walk at least 4 days a week. Walking and making that darn food scale my bff is going to help.
  • For my supper last nite, we had stovetop stuffing, Heinz chicken gravy, Del Monte sweet peas, and venison cube steak. Got my scale, and checked the serving sizes of each of the foods, then weighed out all my portions, and I was surprised it was not a very skimpy plate of food at all. I ate everything, and I felt satisfied,…
  • earlnabby, thank you for that tip. I have a kitchen scale. Yes, that would be even easier. I'll try that tomorrow. I measured my supper with the little scale. I was really surprised at the amt. of food I put on my plate, versus just filling my plate without thinking of just how much I was eating.
  • Thank you Wendy. I know hubby is going to laugh at me when he sees me weighing everything, but I will remind him that he has been after me to lose this weight, so don't laugh, especially if I can see results.
  • Thank you earlnabby!!!!! I did not know about the different weights. I assumed 4 oz. was 4 oz. whether I weighed the food in a 1/2 cup measure or by scale. That is good info, I will follow it. I know it is going to be aggravating weighing everything, but if that is the key to helping me lose the weight, then I will make…
  • I bought a food scale from Wal-Mart, made by Mainstay. I just tested it by putting a 1/2 cup of water in the bowl. It weighed 4 oz., so I guess that is accurate enough? Can't wait to get started. Hope this helps me. Thanks everyone for your tips! Keep them coming. I need all the motivation I can get.
  • Thank you Malibu927. I didn't think about it that way. The only way for me to exercise is to walk, but with the cold weather now, I guess I will just have to bundle up. Does walking outside give a person a better chance of getting sick?
  • Dr.Oz recommends pea protein powder. One level scoop is 120 calories. No sugar, 24 grams protein. I got the unflavored, and there is a long list of amino acids, and other good for you ing. I am putting it in my green smoothies. It helps keep you full longer, and I haven't had any tummy upsets or anything using it. I get…
  • No, nothing else has changed in my habits. only thing i added, was drinking those smoothies.
  • Sherry, you are right about the calories. The recipe makes 64 oz., and it is divided up into 4 pints, and you drink 2 a day, thats about 150 calories per pint.
  • No, I didn't wash any of them. It said on the bag washed and ready to eat.
  • for the fruit, its only 1 apple, 2 bananas, and 6 strawberries, thats all the fruit. Could it be too much fruit mixing with the greens. Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the suggestions. I am totally perplexed.
  • I thought eating (drinking it in smoothies) raw kale and spinach was better for you than cooking them. I wouldn't think there is anything in the pea protein powder that would cause an allergic reaction.
  • why????
  • In her youtube video, Robyn Openshaw said, if you drink 2 pints a day of that recipe, you will lose weight, thats what I am trying to do. Now that I am older, the weight is getting harder and harder to come off.
  • in my post, I put the ingredients in there for what I put in the smoothie. I was skeptical, but when I tasted it, it was good.
  • Yes, I had a bag of frozen spinach already in the freezer, so I used it. The smoothies were good. I think the nutrients are probably just the same. She was saying in her article that fresh was better, so I thought I would try fresh.I did look for frozen kale yesterday at the grocery store, couldn't find any either.
  • I just started drinking green smoothies after I saw an article in a recent issue of Womans World magazine. The article was about Robyn Openshaw who was very overweight. She had tried every diet she could think of to lose weight, nothing worked until she happened to read about green smoothies for weight loss. She was so…
