I add to my log the night before as I always know what I am going to be eating for breakfast and lunch at work as I prepare it that evening. I like this as I know how many calories I have to work with for dinner that evening. Dinner and weekends I tend to log as I go as it can be a little more spontaneous.

As an ex-shift worker I used to do this too. I would always have 'emergency' snack foods in my bag like cuppa soups and dried fruit and nuts etc. I used to find when working nights that I didn't know what I wanted to eat so meal prep was a nightmare. Ha! I avoid the cyclos anyway, unfortunately I don't live close enough to work to be able to walk so I end up taking a moto. Perhaps I will start getting them to drop me off earlier and walk the remainder.... Any reason you avoid street food? (apart from Bahn mi which is completely self-explanatory!)

I've worked shift work (as a nurse) for about 13 years. Even when i've lost 3 stone before, i would eat at random times of the day and night - the joys of nightshifts..... I found that as long as i stayed within my calorie count then I would still lose weight. Good luck!

Dinner time sounds complicated in your house!! It is the same here, it is cheaper to eat out than to cook at home. Also, added bonus of no dishes!

Ah i'm off to Singapore next month! Heard great things. Good shout, at least then my beloved Vietnamese food can be semi-guilt free.

I'm living with my husband, we either share the cooking depending on work schedules or eat out/order in 3-4 times a week.

Hi back from Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam! Whilst food isn't too oily here, we have no idea what it is actually being cooked in, and due to the language barrier you can't really ask... (My Vietnamese is TERRIBLE!) As you say, the way forward may be to start cooking more at home. Just so hard to give up my beloved pho! Do you…
