  • Thanks for the sympathy. I have a step tracker and I'm quite active. Today has been quite inactive for me, but I still made 11k steps.....although some of those will be false. My only mode of transport is a bicycle, and is six miles to work. I can't count coming home because it's almost all downhill. On a long shift, I can…
  • Great idea! I had toyed with the idea of creating a routine like I'd code a website, but I haven't quite been able to join it up. (And it's been so many years since I had to do anything like that so I'm not even sure I remember how!) Amusedmonkey, do you program your time like this? If so, please tell me more? What…
  • I might be trying to avoid the chocolate stash, but I reserve the right to make a big fat hole in the good coffee.
  • I got out and ran.
  • I'll be working - helping make sure people have food and drink at their wedding. I'm trying to love my job but it doesn't half make me feel worthless at times! I'll be trying hard not to hit the staff chocolate stash! I might finish 2am, but I'm falling asleep already!!
  • I cant relate to having ill health, but I certainly can relate to wondering what is the point of dieting. I'm looking for a new reason for doing this because the ones I listed aren't motivating me anymore. I spend five evenings a week in the gym and one doing voluntary work, my entire Saturday is working out or caring for…
  • I'm a PhD addict too! Cherry bakewell flavour is AMAzing for post-workout shakes and I made my first ever protein crepes with Chocolate Orange flavour this morning - I feel a new addiction coming on. On top of chocolate orange peanut butter balls. :)
  • Feel free to add me too - I'm pretty new to this running lark, 10k time is currently about an hour and ten, but I'm not chasing PBs, I just go out to enjoy myself. I'm signed up for a Race for Life 5k, a Pretty Muddy and a Spartan Super. Gotta stop entering stuff now - this racing is expensive!!
  • Hey! I just signed up for Spartan Super, nine and a half weeks from now. I see a lot of burpees in my future! Would love to swap training tips and nightmares with fellow soon-to-be Spartans. :)
  • I'm so lazy with cooking so I steam my veggies in the microwave and put hot sauce and lemon juice on when they come out. I'm finding I prefer less and less sauce and lemon juice on them as time goes on.
  • Chicken and fish are one of the best sources of low-fat protein you'll find. I eat very little red meat but I can get 150g of protein in a day quite happily. And I always said I'd never do it, but I LOVE my protein shakes now. They're not a whole food, but will give you a protein boost. You can even cook with them - google…

  • go to www.nerdfitness.com and have a rummage around. They have a great bodyweight workout on there somewhere. There's a beginners one and an advanced one. It's also an awesome site. :)
  • I have told my trainer a bodyweight goal, and a body fat goal, and I'd love to see my weight under 9st, even if just once (it's at the lower end of a healthy weight range for me and I'd be disappointed if my trainer were to say she approved TBH). Really though I'd like to see the definition that's in my abs "in just the…
  • Ohh that is pretty!! I said two bikes ago that I wasn't going to add to my collection anymore. I have seven now! My NSV today is that the jeans I'm wearing have holes under the belt loops where I was trying to yank them over my thighs six months ago. Not so much as a wiggle today, nevermind the full-on skinny jean dance!!
  • Look her squarely in the face, Smile, take a bite and say "eugh. Not worth the calories" Throw the rest of it in the bin. Obvs, only works if she's watching.
  • My bottom. Sorry. I'll appreciate it now before it starts to look all skinny and flat.
  • That guy sucks! What an unpleasant individual. :( Running outside IS harder than running on a treadmill. I can't say for sure why but it is. Doesn't matter though - inside or outside you'll have days when you're just not feeling it, and that's ok. At least you didn't stay sat on the sofa eating doritos cause you "can't do…
  • Target weight or not I'll be wearing shorts this summer. I've bought myself two pairs of tiny, tiny board shorts which I plan to wear for running, when I do Race for Life and Pretty Muddy, AND to run on the beach when I go on holiday in September. I will also be wearing string bikinis whenever I get the chance.
  • The first thing I noticed was about six weeks in, I went dancing (I do rock n roll dancing) and a guy led a move with a hip spin - the guy basically grabs your hip bone and uses it to spin you round.....and it didn't feel as squishy. I can remember crying with shame when my boyfriend was kissing my belly and muffin tops a…
  • For pajama bottoms pin a safety pin to the end of a long piece of ribbon (long enough to tie round your waist). Make a little slit in the front of the waistband and you should be able to thread the ribbon through between the waistband fabric and the elastic (make more slits to come out and back in for seams) to turn…
  • Wearing a cardigan that just skims the waistband of my jeans today. Totally forgot that lifting my arms up or sitting down would show a little skin. Normally I'd be mortified but today, I am loving the little skin that it's showing!
  • "I can take a day off, but I don't feel like using my day off today" It usually happens when they've made cake for no reason whatsoever. It bugs me that they assume they can make that choice for me, but I suppose it's because they aren't used to the idea that it IS a choice.
  • Do you have a goal? I found a number is too abstract, I can't focus on that and push myself to get there, but I can imagine what it's like to wear the body I'm working for and push towards that. Maybe find a fitness goal for the time being? Run 5k or do a pull up? Join a sports team? I found that if I stay focused on…
  • In. My boyfriend is going in for surgery soon so my summer beach dreams will be delayed until autumn when he's recovered enough to join me. Could never be bothered with sunbathing but I have a dream of running on the beach at sunrise in shorts and a crop top. The abs are not far off, the running is going great, but legs…
  • Just ran for 35 minutes without a breather. 40 min total workout time, including my warm up, for 3.6 miles in total at an average pace of 11.05 min/mile. Pleased with myself.
  • I was guilty before I lost the weight but now it's worth lookin' at! I'm still at the "I have abs when they catch the light just so" phase, and I have been known to spend so long in changing rooms that the assistant knocks on the door to check I'm ok. It's my back and shoulders I always catch in the mirror. On Sunday I was…
  • Slightly scale relayed but my BMI is in the healthy range today. Hard to believe eight weeks ago I was closer to obese than healthy. :D
  • I know I'm generally pretty miserable if I miss a workout - so yes. I do.
  • I'm even worse - I'm thinner than my sister who is half my age. I feel smug when I see she only just fits into her jeans. (then I feel bad for feeling smug)
