  • The side effects sound like what I experienced, too. Especially the tingles. Put a call into your GP just to be sure what's happening is normal. I found exercise, not food, helped me. Just walking briskly outside did wonders. It also helps generate those feel good endorphins and beats depression's butt. Good luck!
  • I was a vegan for a bit. You can get plenty of daily protein eating animal-free, but you're going to have to plan, cook, and prepare foods wayyyy more. You must not ever forget that without animal protein, you have to create the complete proteins with your food combinations. Just eating vegetables and carbs ain't gonna cut…
  • I don't like cow's milk, so I drink light unsweetened almond milk. I do eat full fat cheddar, but part skim mozzarella, and vegan American. I eat Silk soy yogurt. Go figure! Just eat what u like.
  • Ohhhhh yeaaahhhhh. Awesome stuff, right? My Rx meds didn't help - but these combos do: Imodium for the diarrhea; GasX for the cramping and mucous gas bombs. Sorry for the TMI, but let's be real. I find that reduced fat anything makes it worse. Also, I need to watch the amount of lettuce intake. Maybe once a day is good,…
  • Agree on above post on outdoor exercise. Definitely a mental health must. Good luck and maintain those right combo drugs.
  • I had great success in the old WW plan (2009), the new plan, not at all. I've had great success on MFP so far. The only thing I would recommend WW for would be for the weekly meetings and weigh ins. If you need encouragement and accountability, this is the place for you. However, it's hard to find a good leader, so try a…
  • Maintenance is harder than losing I think. I lost 32 pounds, maintained for a year and over the last 4, gained 35 back! On the way back down, but making less severe life changes this time that I can maintain for the long haul. Good luck to you on this journey. You can do it, just try to keep your focus on staying away from…
  • Focus on keeping your food diary on MFP. Don't worry so much about the exercise right now. Changing dietary habits can be the majority of your weight loss success anyway. Start small. Make one good change at a time rather than all at once. It's less overwhelming. If you want my 2 cents, try losing with your dietician and…

  • Everyone loses differently and it's not always predictable how much or how fast you'll lose. I know you said Insanity will kill you, but please focus on the dietary choices way more heavily. Good luck!
  • Persistence, not perfection, is key.
  • I think all diets work, but-ask yourself if this is what you want to maintain for the rest of your life. The long haul is difficult and the only healthy way is reducing calories, making healthy food choices most of the time, and moving your body more. Good luck with whatever you decide.

  • I print on different floors and take the steps, I also walk to talk to people over emailing so often. If I need to brainstorm, I use a five minute break to walk around the block. I've also been walking up and down the stairs a lot more. I'd love a treadmill desk.
  • I'd see...sometimes this works, if you can get a special plate. When I was vegan and needed to do these types of events, I would call up the organizer and many times they are happy to help. Other times, I wound up not eating. Sometimes I could catch a staff member for the venue and ask for a salad without dressing and a…
  • First, take a deep breath. For now, think about making one small step in the right direction. This doesn't have to be an all or nothing proposition. If you do well keeping that small step going, add another. Pretty soon, all of these small steps add up. I find this is way less stressful. Good luck!
  • Long time runner and last week experienced knee pain. I've taken a week off and have been icing and rolling and massaging this sucker. Still fiery when I touch it. I'm only walking right now. Take time to heal. I used to run through pain and tore myself up a few yrs ago.
  • 5'4", 43 yrs young and my goal is also 140. So nice to see similar goals above! I got to 130 in 2009, but it was hell to maintain (obviously). Lol SW: 170 CW: 161 GW: 140 Let's do this shorties!
  • Count gardening/yard work as exercise? Heck yes! It's hard work! I think you just need to decide what is right for you. Use your progress as your guide.
  • OP, I would recommend trying to reduce calories by eating a healthy, clean diet and adding some movement in. It's really the only way to healthy loss. It will also help you learn to make better choices without a medical mask from the drug. I have tried qsymia myself for a month under a dr's supervision but it made my heart…

  • Agreed with everything you've said. Restricting isn't very practical forever. I find learning moderation and practicing good choices are essential. Of course, no one is perfect and my choices aren't always stellar. Pfft-I just shake it off and do the next right thing.
  • ^^^^This. I use MapMyFitness, too. Love!
  • Love this and was already using these principles. Nice to see others doing the same!
  • Try an Americano next time you're at Starbucks-I'm not a black coffee fan, but these taste awesome and low cal,
  • For me, pacing is dependent on what I'm trying to do in a run. Training for a race? Killing stress? Feeling strong or weak, or tired? I guess, just listen to your body and do what feels right. Also, I go by feel-can I talk but not sing? Cool, that's my zone. Some days that's an 8:30 mile, some days it's a 10:30. I don't…
  • Insomniac here. Hey look, I'm awake (4:43am)! I've lost over 11 pounds even with the curse of insomnia. You can try talking to your Dr-I got a Rx sleep aid but it makes me feel lousy. Maybe you'd fare better? Also, I have good results with Advil PM. Just one-sleepy time and it helps my running aches. But, I'm not cool…

  • Y-E-S! I'm 43 and aiming for a bikini when I hit 15 pounds off (4 more pounds to go!) I'll send a friend request.
  • Hi! I'm 43 and on my path to losing 30 pounds! Feel free to friend me for some motivation and fun!
  • Feel free to friend me if you'd like, I have a positive account. :) I also keep my diary between me, myself, and I. Totally get it. Best of luck on your healthy journey!
