  • I appreciate all the replies. You all provided useful information in regards to the nuances of MFP. Looking back over my entries I noticed that the foods I was selecting from the pick list was wildly incorrect. So, my new plan is if I can't scan the nutrition in then I have to ask my RD what her evaluation of nutrient…

  • It takes time to perfect good technique, so I wouldn't get discouraged if the first couple of times you try what the new stroke coach suggests and your time doesn't improve. The other aspect is it also takes conditioning to improve your speed in the pool. The new technique may be activating different muscles than the ones…
  • I never can remember it, but luckily the computer does, wmeyerbill455. So far completed 1 Sprint triathlon, and 1 Sprint Duathlon. I have two more Sprints scheduled, one in two weeks. Feel free to add me. Bill
  • BIG, BIG, BIG NO! In order to lose weight and maintain the loss you have to eat consistently fewer calories. If you are looking for a 20% reduction you need to find out how many calories you can consume each day to maintain your current weight then reduce it by 20% and that is your new calorie max, every day, no cheat days.
  • Hi, I am Bill and just getting started. Better late than never I am 50+, live in central IL, USA and never was much of a runner but love to Bike and all things aquatic, swimming, windsurfing, scuba you name it. So, I thought I could work on my running and that is what I am doing. You are NOT Kidding about that Bike to run…
  • Tell your husband to read my post. I ate like he did and eventually got overweight but I wasn't as heavy as many people my age or so I thought, then my liver enzymes went up and I was diagnosed with Non alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), if left untreated it causes liver failure = liver transplant = 5 to 8 years of extended…

  • Thanks, doing that. It's good to know that one day it will get burned off.
  • Thanks, I wondered about if that was the way it would go. That helps.
  • Fried Organic Eggs Parmesan and steamed organic kale, with organic Coffee of course!
  • Memere101, thanks you gave me some food ideas and I kind of forgot about the need to make sure I stayed hydrated. Your advice did help.
  • Thanks, I also cut way back on the exercise, but find it difficult dieting when my head hurts so much. I don't get the abdominal migraines very often so I usually eat more. I get the vertigo migraines and eating helps to quell the dizziness. Just wish I could find a better way.
  • I finally gave it up, too many calories. If I want spagettii now I use Spagetti Squash instead. You should try it, it is really good and no where near the number of calories.
  • Jessehadley0294, To make exercise a part of everyday activity you have to be able to answer for yourself Why? Why do I want to invest time in this. I have difficulty giving myself a day off to rest which also is an important part of a good exercise plan. Send me a friend request and I will help you answer the question.
  • Found out late in life after too many painful post meal episodes that I was lactose intolerant, oh and glutine was not so good either. That didn't leave much to eat on the menu, except lean meat, fish, eggs, fruits and veggies. Did I also mention that drinking was also something I can rarely do. Yeah, NAFLD. So, picking…
  • Sprinkle bug, as much as I think Vegan diets have much to offer PCOS folks need good sources of low carbohydrate lean protein and purely vegetarian sources are not the best. If you are not already vegan, suggest you not rule out fish, egg whites, and white meat poultry for protein sources. Also suggest you stay away from…
  • If you added fish you are not Vegan, you are closer to Macro-biotic which has been in vogue in the US since the 60s. The diet is more closely related to Northern Pacific Rim countries and Island nations like Japan. Vegans do not eat or use any products derived from animal products if an animal/fish has been harmed, not…
  • If one actually follows the recommended daily diet by the surgeon general (new one) you will find it to be, low fat and fairly low glycemic wise as well. Just try eating 4 cups of cooked vegetables a day (new standard). To do it I have to have veggies with my breakfast. I am not fully healed but I got my liver enzymes back…
  • No worries. Living right is hard work.
  • When you say 1672cal to survive you do mean this is you maintenance weight daily cal intake correct? As daily Cals to survive is an entirely different "animal" and depends on size, weight, health gender etc. I will assume the former. As several others have mentioned there are no "hard" numbers, unless you have the time and…
  • Let your physician determine what a healthy weight is for your size and frame. I am 5' 11". The charts say my healthy weight is 179, my physician says my with my frame and muscle development 190 is better. I am now running between 205 and 210. To lose weight it is simple but requires dedication as I have done this before.…
  • Hungry pumpkin, I was diagnosed this March with NASH. I would be happy to support you and would appreciate your support as well. My Liver Enzymes were down as of my last blood test but it is difficult for me to maintain my weight loss. Just too many desserts. " I guess I will have another kale smoothie, please"...... Yum!
  • Sugar, is really tough to kick so I can feel your pain. This is what has worked for me. Go completely natural to start, (later you may want to even pair down the sweeter natural things). Anyway, buy some mejool dates whole and put them in the freezer. They don't actually freeze but doing this makes them a bit less sweet…
  • Happy, to help same age group, have trainer too, and dietician not that it matters it just keeps me honest.
  • Well, track cholesterol in the foods you eat, but basically the body can convert any animal based food substance into a portion of cholesterol. Some sources, eggs, shellfish and certain meats are higher than others. Your body needs some cholesterol every day so you can't eliminate it. The best diet which had worked for me…
