Hi all, I am from India.

Please suggest Diet goals for fats if need to reduce cholesterol levels

    Well, track cholesterol in the foods you eat, but basically the body can convert any animal based food substance into a portion of cholesterol. Some sources, eggs, shellfish and certain meats are higher than others. Your body needs some cholesterol every day so you can't eliminate it. The best diet which had worked for me in controlling cholesterol without using drugs (statins). Is Ovo, lacto vegetarian. That is a vegetarian diet with the addition of Milk products and eggs, but you still have to track you daily intake and keep below the level your physician recommends. Good luck :)

    Your body can make cholesterol out of any fatty acids, so avoiding animal fats doesn't prevent that. Which is good, because your body needs cholesterol to function!

    I personally found that eating a whole avocado every day (which means I get about 50% of my calories from fat, because the rest of my diet is moderate-fat) dropped my cholesterol 50 points over 8 weeks. YMMV.
