  • Currently reading Mycroft Holmes by Kareem Abdul Jabar.
  • I started using them about a week or two ago. I like the format and the plain white backdrop. Good workouts.
  • Isn't that the main reason we buy so many do-dads.
  • My map still shows during GPS use on my phone. I dont like some of their recent changes but I'm glad I can still see the map.
  • I would like to leave my phone behind once in awhile which is why I still lean towards GPS. However, I would probably leave my phone home only 5% of the time. I have a Garmin Forerunner 10 which I can hold onto for those rare moments.
  • The Garmin vivoactive is also high on my list but the style is not office professional. However, I know it will more than cover any fitness item I throw at it. I'm not sure if I need that level of overkill. I do like the Pebble and its ability to swap the bands with typical watch bands. I'm 100% on the heart rate monitor…
  • I'm interested to know as well. Pebble is in my top 3 choices for a watch. I like that it has a fitness aspect and is stylish for the office. Your Pebble Time 2 is coming next month? Is this a early release for Kickstarter supporters? I'll be kicking myself if thats the case. I almost plunked down the cash a few months…
  • Did it maybe read 161.2 calories?
  • That calorie burn is huge. I highly doubt that is correct. The general rule of thumb for calories burned for just one mile walk is about 100 calories for a 180lb body. Steps in a mile is a little over 2000.
  • I'm in the market for a wearable/tracker. I think I would use some of the fitness tracking features more than a smart watch. However, I would like to have something stylish for the office. I'm leaning towards the Garmin vivoactive HR. On the other hand, I really would like to try a Pebble.
  • BMX was my thing back in the day. I would hit the dirt tracks all day. I think I rode my bike more in one day than my kids have done all summer. Just like skiing, I don't think it is wise for me to pick these sports back up. I fear I will try to pull off the tricks I would do as a teen. Probably won't end well for an old…
  • Crock pot will be your savior. Especially since you can literally throw frozen chicken breasts in there and let it cook for hours without it being looked after. We even use a timer that will turn on the crock pot at a certain time so we know it will be ready at the time we need it.
  • We do salmon chowder with it. I think this is the recipe or a variant of what we use. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/salmon-chowder-238699
  • I am waiting on a good deal for ViviactiveHR. I did come across the older Fenix2 real cheap but this is the older version of Garmin's high end fitness watch. http://slickdeals.net/f/9152151-garmin-fenix-2-smart-watch-black-159-99-8-rakuten-cash-free-shipping?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1
  • I've been looking at the Garmin Vivoactive HR. I need something more than a tracker with built in GPS. I wish it was more stylish so I can wear in the office. Hopefully this Black Friday will have some sweet deals on wearables.
  • I tried GF for about a week and not a fan. It is very glitchy. I stick with MapMyFitness which has been working well with MFP. I wish UnderArmour would integrate these a little better. UA has way to many app ecosystems. I hope they figure out a robust system that will still work well with other 3rd partys like Garmin…
  • Too bad Under Armour can't combine a premium package with their other fitness and healthy app suites to make it more appealing.
  • We have been using low sodium vegetable stock to boil our pasta. We also add lots of vegetables and other ingredients while it cooks. We don't drain the liquid as it infuses and creates a light sauce. There are many one pot recipes out there for pasta.
  • That is a lot of soda. I loved my soda too. What helped was reviewing studies that showed the dangers of soda. I also did some experiments with Coke and saw how good of a cleaning agent it was. Once I saw it dissolve rust, I knew that I had to cut it almost entirely out of my life. Water is key and will be a huge jump…
  • Thanks. I have seen DC Rainmaker before when I bought my Forerunner 10. I'll check it out again. The vivoactive is starting to grow on me and will research it a bit more. As much as I like to buy stuff right away, I am leaning towards waiting to see what Black Friday deals pop up. Or wait and see when brands have heir…
  • I'll look into that one. I bypassed it a few times due to its look. I am happy with my Garmin Forerunner 10 and the Connect ecosystem. My main problem with the Forerunner was it basically uploaded everything has a run to Connect. I then had to modify it in their GUI which is fine but mapmyfitness ended up syncing the data…
  • It looks like if I drop the need of a built in GPS and utilize the phone, I open myself up to more options. Anyone use Pebble Time Steel or Sony Watch3? I have a Garmin Forerunner 10 but need something with more options for fitness and non fitness items.
  • Catasauqua, PA USA
  • Also, do any watches help combat the double dipping? For example, I dont want the step counter to keep tracking if I go out for a run and utilize GPS routing or if I'm at the gym on a treadmill and manually log my data via MapMyFitness.
  • Never thought about the double dipping between the step counter and manually logging workouts.
  • I tend to eat at my desk while I work and then use my lunch break to take a walk. Luckily I run a data center so there are days that I am on my feet for hours doing light construction. Then there are weeks where it is nothing but being a desk jockey. No matter what the work day brings, I still try to walk a mile for no…
  • I typically do log such activities as lawn mowing, gardening, etc. Anything that does take a good period of time and I break a sweat will be logged. As for the calorie count, I always cut it in half or more. I do this even on a gym or treadmill workout. I do this to help my MFP diet tracking and I can see bigger gains than…
  • I'm looking for an affordable smartwatch that has GPS and possibly HRM. I would like it to be my main fitness tracker but also would like a look and feel that I can wear to the office or out on a date. (Swappable bands would be nice.) I would also like to have it work with MapMyFitness and export data to the main app. I'm…
  • In a mug. (No sugar and just a splash of flavored creamer.)
