  • Vegetarian a few months now, make vegan food at home. My husband still occasionally eats meat (not at home) and loves the stuff I am making and likes to joke "as long as you hold off on that weird vegan *kitten*" around people who think vegan food is boring after they have eaten and expressed pleasure from one of my meals.…
  • the cucumbers and mushrooms are marinated and leaky as is the fruit. I need a proper bento set lol. I make a marinade with reduced calorie caesar dressing and cider vinegar for the mushrooms. The cucumbers have been kept in vinegar.
  • this and the pic above for me....not taking photos of all of them though
  • Feeling cold and a cold base temperature...people with cooler baseline temperatures burn a little less in calories from what is used to keep your body warm. But metabolic conditions such as hypothyroid can indeed slow the metabolism and lower what your body will burn. And the TSH test alone does not always find thyroid…
  • As for pocky....it is nice since I can eat just one....
  • I can sometimes get to a store if I am up during the day when they are open and my daughter and I so do love to go there. We both want to order Bento boxes sometime but keep spending money on cons and cosplay....Geekcon is in August and coming fast, then Daisho Con in November, and I have to see if I will be off for a con…
  • I was asked to post my bento style lunches that I just started due to inspiration here. I do not have any traditional Japanese foods in here
  • With a leg acting up already squatting is not really a good idea...too much risk of hurting yourself. But I want to share that at my highest, a few months before I started with MFP, I was about 235 but so out of shape I would get winded after a short walk on level ground (15 minutes maybe) and one set of stairs left me…
  • It may be because you are gaining muscle which is heavier than fat but it will also burn more calories in which case your weight will start dropping again.
  • Health concerns versus health conditions: A health condition may mean not being able to eat a specific food, such as gluten for someone with celiac disease, high sugar foods for someone with UNCONTROLLED diabetes where it is so bad those foods will make it worse, salt for someone with blood pressure or congestive heart…
  • From a nurse here: She is likely talking about eating for an upset stomach not going on a liquid diet just to diet here. Actually when one is sick and the stomach is ill they can start with a clear liquid diet, then when that stays down and you don't feel sick from it you move on to full liquids: add milk, yogurt,…
  • "You will sometimes get annoyed or even angry when people offer you seconds or say you "deserve" a treat. I'm trying to lose weight! Extra calories means more work for me! Back off! (I'm still training my boyfriend about this). " I am on the beginning of my journey and find that is already happening, but I have trained my…
  • "Peaches, pears, plums, prunes, pineapple, peppers. If it starts with p it will make you go." My doctor has said as much. For me also having oatmeal (which is awesome with fresh peaches and some cinnamon". And I have to work at drinking enough fluids. Also keep any baked or pasta or grains type carbs whole grain, which are…
  • I was not feeling motivated at all when I started, so I came from a "just do it" and really had to take one day at a time. One thing that helps is to list all of the advantages to eating healthy and the disadvantages to not eating healthy, and do the same for exercise. And to start somewhere. Also getting supportive people…
  • If you are needing that much water on a daily basis you might want to get a checkup. It is a symptom of quite a few illnesses.
  • I love carbs and would never be able to stick to a low carb diet, but I have focused on spending my carbs on mostly "good" carbs, such as whole grains instead of white, eating the potato skin as well as the potato, enjoying fruit...I need to have some moderation to keep the calories under control so I make sure I also get…
  • I had that type of surgery a few years ago to fuse two vertebrae together after removing a disc so badly slipped it was compressing my spinal cord and I was losing the ability to use my right arm. Josalinn has some great ideas, to it I would add oatmeal if you like it, scrambled eggs, some soft fruits like banana or melon,…
  • sometimes it helps to divide it up, set a goal of 25 pounds, then when you get there, set a new goal of 25 pounds, and then repeat the third time.
  • making sure not to forget my levothyroxine and keeping moving daily even if it is just a walk. Using my fitness pal helps a lot.
  • I would love to do this but I am working on weight loss at a steady pace instead of in an extreme fashion. It sounds like such fun and very motivating (as long as I don't have to be hunted by demnetors....).
  • Sometimes I want a banana, sometimes the muffin...but as some folks have posted some muffins are better than others. IF I am burning the calories on a banana muffin, a home made one tastes better to me and I have control of what goes in it....although I don't hand mill my own flour I do like my muffins to be with whole…
  • I would love to find something to take bento. I am in the U.S, don't have a Daiso store nearby.
  • Wisconsin cheesehead here: be it grams or be it 1/4 cup, if I want that much cheese I will cut the calories elsewhere  We love our cheese! I would not eat that every day but it can be quite lovely and pairs well with fruit and salad (as well as a lot of other things....) It is also nice on portabella pizza rounds:…
  • It is indeed! I also noticed the sodium levels in my food were outrageous. It gets easier though...I am finding I eat and want less food. And I have been mixing a ton of veggies with pasta to make a full meal without overload.

  • Welcome! I am going to say a good bit, and hopefully it will help you know you are not alone and that this does work! I have a long haul also, with an initial goal to get from 222 pounds to 150 as I could not face setting a goal to do any higher. My plan is to set a new goal once I get to 150 pounds. I used to hate keeping…
  • Most of the my fitness pals are really great, just a few trolls out there. And you have a really good start!
  • Hi, I have been hypothyroid for years. With thyroxine make sure you take it on an empty stomach and not with any other pills, and wait an hour before eating, also taking it when you first get up really helps. It is hard to lose weight and I find for me exercise, at least walking daily, is needed to help the metabolism kick…
