  • Homemade bread...oh yeah! That seems to be the biggest problem with the Atkins, you have to pass on way too many things. Honestly I love bread, pasta and lots of other carb rich foods. Food was meant to be eaten! In moderation of course...
  • I did Atkins a while ago and I dropped 20 lbs pretty quickly. I felt better. I did it because I was looking for an "easy" diet and because I have tried so many. The biggest issue was it didn't fit into my lifestyle very good. I was always eating different foods from everyone else in my house which made it difficult. Also I…
  • I have logged for almost 190 days and have lost 37 lbs so far. I feel the itch too. I feel great, dropped cloth sizes and a lot of people have noticed. Although I am not loosing nearly as fast, I have switched to the "living" mode. MFP has really made me more aware than anything about how and what I eat causing me to make…
  • Heck, your young yet! You are still at the point in your life where you can change your habits before they become permanent. There are a lot of great people here and this MFP app is awesome. Your life will be about choices. Take credit for the good ones and take responsibility for the bad ones. Good Luck!!
  • I tried the Atkins plan for a while and yes, I did loose weight. Actually I lost it pretty fast too. I have tried soooo many of these fad diet plans and the biggest reason they always fail is they are not a "lifestyle". Can you really livethe rest of your life low carb? Well maybe but as I have found and we all will have…
  • Welcome, I think you will like it.
  • For me, it helped in the beginning to not eat my excercise calories. I never had more than 500 anyway. That way I was assured that I was in a deficit. I'm trying to make this easy and fun this time and so far it's working. I only excercise 3 days a week for 30 min and it makes a big difference. Now I add in my excercise…
  • Couldn't have said it better.
  • I just do your last 2 and over estimate slightly. I always log even if I'm way over just to be accountable. If you are over on a day, watch your next couple a little closer.
  • Yes, Amen. This is the best part about this. You don't need special tricks or weird customs to loose weight. It's that simple. That's why using the MFP is so successful.
  • Well, I'm still not sure what "NSV" stands for but I was never accused of being too sharp. Anyway, I think I might understand so here goes. I have been doing the MFP for about 50 days so far and yesterday went down another hole in my belt which is a total of 3. I LIKE! All my pants are finally fitting like they were meant…
  • One thing to remember is that your body doesn't hit the reset button at 12am. All your weeks calories are really averaged out over time. If you go over one day your probably under another. As long as you dont go loopy, it all works out.

  • I really was an addict to dognuts and cookies. I still try to avoid them as I have little self control. But on the flip side, using the MFP, I usually eat what I want, just in lower quantity. Trying to "avoid" certain kinds of foods on other "diets" I think had a lot to do with why they didn't work. Oh and yes, another…
  • Congratulations on your 78lbs! I was in your shoes once (on my way back down). I lost 65lbs and was at my goal weight. It seemed like if I looked at food, I would gain weight. I think your body is adjusting to your new size somewhat. If we believe what other posts say, CICO, then your eating what your body needs. That said…
  • I guess what I am taking from most of this is calories in<calories out is what works. I'm not sure who said it but if you restrict yourself from eating what you like, your chances of success are going to be much lower. That has been my issue in the past. No carbs, no fat, man you cant eat anything! So far in my 6 weeks, I…
  • I have lost a lot of weight (60lbs) and gained it all back and more. Weight has been my #1 issue in my life forever. I'm on my 10th try here but 6 weeks in, I can say that the MFP app is really doing the trick. Just knowing what I'm eating really hits home with me. As far as the gym goes, for me being in the atmosphere…
